Ardderry Lough is a freshwater lake in the west of Ireland. It is located in the Connemara area of County Galway.

Geography

Ardderry Lough measures about 4 km (2.5 mi) long and 0.5 km (0.3 mi) wide. It is located about 40 km (25 mi) northwest of Galway city on the N59 road near the village of Maam Cross.[1]

Natural history

Fish species in Ardderry Lough include perch, brown trout and the critically endangered European eel.[3] Ardderry Lough is part of the Connemara Bog Complex Special Area of Conservation.[4]
