Banned gymnastic skills are gymnastics moves which gymnasts are prohibited to perform, mostly due to safety concerns for the performing athletes.
Artistic gymnastics

[edit]Official regulation from the International Gymnastics Federation states in its Code of Points for Women, Section 14 Table of elements:[1]: 182
The following elements are prohibited:
- Vault – vaults with sideward take-off or landing.
- Uneven bars – salto & dismount with take-off from two feet.
- Balance beam – dance elements with cross sit landing on balance beam.
- Floor exercise – acro elements with sideward take off and/or landing into roll.
The following gymnastics skills are banned by at least some gymnastics associations:
- Korbut flip[2][3]
- Thomas salto[3]
- Roll-out[3]
The following gymnastics skills have reduced score due to safety concerns:
Men
[edit]For males, the 2022-24 Code of Points Men's Artistic Gymnastics[6] states the vault is invalid if the following moves are done:
Juniors
[edit]A series of skills are also prohibited for juniors athletes.[6]
Tumbling
[edit]Quadruple tumbling, for youth athletes[7]: 23
