"Do It" is a song by the American hip hop superduo ¥$, composed of rapper Kanye West and singer Ty Dolla Sign, from their debut studio album, Vultures 1 (2024). The song features vocals from rappers YG and Nipsey Hussle. It was recorded during the album's sessions at the temporary studios in Dubai. The song samples Nipsey Hussle's "I Just Wanna Know" for the intro. It is a party anthem, themed around pleasure and lust.

Background and composition

[edit]

YG and Ty Dolla Sign were friends before working on "Do It", although the song marked the rapper's first appearance on an album by Kanye West.[1] The song also includes a posthumous appearance from Nipsey Hussle on the intro, which is sampled from his leaked collaboration "I Just Wanna Know" with Ty Dolla Sign and fellow rapper Cardi B.[2][3] West and Ty Dolla Sign recorded "Do It" during the sessions for Vultures 1 in Duabi, transforming an empty building of a hotel complex into temporary studios.[4] The performers brought out YG to perform his verse from the song for the album's first listening event at the United Center in Chicago on February 8, 2024.[5]

After the intro from Nipsey Hussle, "Do It" moves into a party anthem. The song incorporates a West Coast bounce and soaring string orchestration.[3] Ty Dolla Sign delivers a hook melody, establishing the themes of pleasure and lust. West performs next, followed by YG's verse at the end.[3]
