From 1962, Fords mainstream cars were available in three sizes; the compact Falcon, the mid sized Fairlane and the full size Galaxie. The 1965-68 Galaxies were an all-new design, featuring vertically stacked dual headlights, they were taller and bulkier. The 1966 facelift saw changes to the grille and taillights and the 428 V8 was now available The base model was the Custom and Custom 500 in 2 or 4 door Sedan. The mid spec Galaxie 500 got extra mouldings, carpet and sill moulds and was available in 4 door Sedan, 2 and 4 door Hardtop and Convertible. The 7 litre version was an option on the 2 door hardtop and Convertible. The sporty model was the Galaxie 500XL, it got a more refined interior, bucket seats. floor shift and chrome trim, available in 2 door Hardtop Fastback Coupe and Convertible. The top of the line Galaxie LTD got special upholsterey, walnut appliques on the instrument panel, courtesy lights and a clock, available in 2 and 4 door Hardtop Also available was the 4 door Ranch and Country wagons.
