Durante las excavaciones arqueológicas realizadas desde 1954 se hallaron antigüedades en un montículo artificial de 12 m de altura con siete capas estratificadas creadas por varios ocupantes desde el 2300 a. C. hasta el siglo XVIII, incluidos los casitas, griegos, portugueses y persas. El sitio, que fue la capital de la civilización Dilmún, se inscribió como Patrimonio de la Humanidad en 2005.

Gli scavi, iniziati nel 1954, hanno portato alla luce numerosi reperti archeologici sepolti nella collinetta artificiale, alta 12 metri e stratificata in sette livelli, che nel tempo ha ospitato vari abitanti diversi (tra cui cassiti, greci, portoghesi e iraniani), dal 2300 a.C. fino al XVI secolo d.C. Un tempo costituiva la capitale della civiltà di Dilmun, e nel 2005 è stato inserito nell'elenco dei Patrimoni dell'umanità dell'UNESCO.

Wykopaliska prowadzone tutaj od 1954 roku ujawniły zabytki w sztucznym kopcu o wysokości 12 m składającym się z siedmiu warstw stworzonych przez mieszkańców od 2300 p.n.e. do XVIII wieku, w tym Kasytów, Greków, PortugalczykówPersów. Kiedyś miejsce to było stolicą Dilmunu. Od 2005 roku znajduje się na liście światowego dziedzictwa UNESCO.
