English: Recovered oil-painting, painted in Hickey’s portraiture art genre, presently housed at the Art Gallery in the Mallick-Bari Estate Palace, representing Chaudhuri Zamindar Janmenjay Mallick Bahadur, one of the most prominent and noted Zamindars of Southern Bengal in his age. Widely acclaimed by both natives and colonial settlers for his statesmanship and philanthropic excellence, Janmenjay Mallick was instrumental in the construction and patronage of hundreds of temples, water bodies and administrative buildings in and around his domain. He was also a close friend of Raghunath Malla Dev, the contemporary Zamindar of Jhargram and the two commenced and participated in several noted religious and cultural festivities together.
