Summary
[edit]An example of insulator flashover across a string of 3 glass insulators. The insulators have been coated with 3 mm of wet volcanic ash. The insulators flashed over at ~80 kV, which is approximately 30% lower than if the insulators were in a clean state (i.e. without contamination).
