This photograph was taken by me on October 23rd, 2006, of the memorial plaque honouring en:Fred Astaire on the wall of Madden's Summerhill Cafe (formerly Madden's pub) on Main Street, Lismore, County Waterford, Ireland. It was erected by the people of Lismore in 2000 and unveiled by Astaire's daughter, Ava Astaire McKenzie, in recognition of Astaire's longstanding relationship with the village (he visited[1] his sister Adele Astaire in Lismore Castle from the mid-1930s until the 1970s). Astaire continued to visit Ireland regularly until shortly before his death, visiting his daughter Ava who has lived in Ireland since 1975.
