English: Painting by J. Lamers. The Moses and Aaron church in Amsterdam in 1895, The Netherlands.
The painting is copied after a similar painting of Cornelis Christiaan Dommershuizen (1842-1928). The original painting is of the year 1895.
The original painter has painted something different than the actual site. The three houses next to the church on the right and the three houses on the left are different. The boats are painted with sails, this is very unlikely in the middle of a city.
Old photo's of Amsterdam make clear that the painter has painted a romantic painting.
Therefor also this copy by J. Lamers is not the actual site. A date of "1880" is written with pencil on the back, but that date probably not the date of this painting. It is uncertain when J. Lamers painted this copy.
Note that this photo (taken by me) is not in the public domain, although the painting is old. The license of this photo is set to "GNU Free Documentation License".
