English: A fussy client approves — or maybe rejects — yet another press proof of his printing job. It's gotten into the wee hours; the clock reads 12:28. Meanwhile the employees look bored. One holds a deck of cards behind his back, another smokes his pipe, another lights a cigar, while others look out the window. There will be a long wait if the job goes back to press for another round of adjustments. The print shop looks like the ones that existed in every town at the time, with its typographic job case on the left and piles of inky paper on the lower right. The scene evokes the late-night press checks that still go nowadays everywhere that there is a printing press and a persnickety client. Oil on canvas, 8" x 14".
