CTU is fighting for a new union contract to protect students, schools and improve their jobs.
They want:
Equal pay for equal work. Fully staff the schools. Provide resources for all students. Protect special education. School money for classrooms not CEOs and boardrooms.
CPS gives 8% more funding to charter school companies than to neighborhood schools.
This money goes to corporate boardrooms and private companies while CPS continues to close schools. Charter management companies found money for executive raises, yet charter staff are paid far less than CPS employees for doing essentially the same work.
The above was taken almost verbatim from a CPS flyer distributed at the rally. For more information contact [email protected] or call 312-329-6279.
