Luke Timothy Charles Montagu, Viscount Hinchingbrooke (born 5 December 1969) is a British aristocrat and philanthropist. He has been Viscount Hinchingbrooke since the death of his grandfather in 1995.

Early life and education

[edit]

Luke Montagu was born on 5 December 1969,[1] the eldest son of John Montagu, 11th Earl of Sandwich, and Caroline Montagu. He was educated at Westminster school and later read film at the Columbia University. He met his wife in 2003 while she was living in London. She was a single mother at the time, with two children.[2] A year after they first met they were married at Mapperton House, Dorset, the country estate of the Earl of Sandwich.[3]

Luke Montagu suffered years of side effects from being removed from prescription medication by an addiction clinic, and was later awarded £1.35 million in compensation.[4] Julie Montagu began running yoga classes in nearby church halls to bring some money into the household. By then Luke was unable to continue in his position as director of the Met Film School, so Julie became the sole supporter.[2]

Personal life

[edit]

Viscount Hinchingbrooke is married to Julie Fisher,[3] whom he married on 11 June 2004. Julie Fisher, originally from Sugar Grove, Illinois, has two children from a previous marriage, and together they have two children:[3][5]

The family lives at Mapperton House.
