Mesquite is a census-designated place (CDP) in Starr County, Texas, United States. It is a new CDP, formed from part of the former Escobares CDP prior to the 2010 census, with a population of 505.[1]

Mesquite was formed along with Old Escobares CDP from the part of the Escobares CDP that was not incorporated into the city of Escobares.[15]

Education

The CDP is within the Roma Independent School District.[16] The zoned elementary school for the 2010 Census community is R. T. Barrera Elementary School.[17] Roma High School is the district's sole comprehensive high school.
