Template talk:Fs interlinear

Template's name

[edit]

The choice of title for this template was unfortunate. I didn't give it much thought, and was probably simply following the pattern of things like WP:RFFL. The use of "foreign" is definitely not appropriate (even RFFL has now been moved) and the template should be renamed. But what is the best choice for a new name? {{interlinear with transliteration}}? {{interlinear with non-Latin script}}? Should it be abbreviated as in {{interlinear wt}} or {{interlinear nls}}? Pinging Erutuon, who I seem to remember has used this template in the past. – Uanfala (talk) 16:12, 31 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Tibetan

[edit]

The templates Template:Bo and Template:Bo-textonly "allows the correct display of Tibetan script (with the proper fonts and suitable text size)". However when you set up {{fs interlinear|lang=bo, it doesn't do that, and you just have normal, too-small Tibetan text. Can this be fixed? --Eievie (talk) 19:58, 8 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Using the |lang= parameter in an interlinear template only sets the relevant html element's lang attribute, leaving its rendering up to the reader's browser. In addition to that, Template:Bo-textonly applies the uchen class (which affects the choice of font), and adds the folowing styles: font-size:1.25em; vertical-align:middle; word-wrap:break-word;.
I've tried adding this behaviour to Module:interlinear: it checks if the template used is {{fs interlinear}} and if either |lang= or |lang1= are set to "bo", then it applies the same class and styles as the Bo-textonly template (minus the vertical-align bit, as this apparently won't have any effect on the p elements used for the interlinear display). I haven't had the time to test it much, so it's worth to keep an eye out for potential issues. – Uanfala (talk) 23:11, 9 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Only a few examples, but the ones on Modern Standard Tibetan grammar look better now. Thanks! --Eievie (talk) 23:55, 9 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
