At the very least, putting Kagan's name out for general discussion may lead more of us to be more educated about the important role of the Solicitor General. It sounds as though Kagan is in an excellent position for her skills at this moment. Perhaps she would be a good candidate for the opening following this one after she gives some significant service where she is.
