Upgrade of Yuanlin

[edit]

Looks like Yuanlin has been upgraded from an urban township to county-controlled city of Changhua County today. Do you have any reference/source for that? Preferably English language. I'll try to upgrade the other-related info regarding Yuanlin. Thanks a lot. Chongkian (talk) 01:15, 8 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Chongkian, here is the source I found sorry no English available (http://www.ettoday.net/news/20150729/542126.htm#ixzz3i5eN6kNz). — ASDFGH =] talk? 01:20, 8 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Oh thanks, I think it's enough to get the reference date of 8 August. Well, it looks like the English-version of Yuanlin gov office has changed its name already to Yuanlin City Office (http://www.yuanlin.gov.tw/en/know/main.asp), although not all of its content has followed the upgrade (it takes time to change all of these for sure, especially with the coming typhoon today in Taiwan). :| Chongkian (talk) 01:24, 8 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

OK, this helps a lot! Do you know if it is possible to extract vector data from that system? By the way, another such question: What is the source of File:1949 PRC map.png?--Antemister (talk) 13:43, 7 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Antemister, the tiles are being served by a Web Map Service (WMS), so it may be possible to export them in another format. I have in the past tackled a similar vector-data extraction exercise, by requesting PDF/SVG from the WMS server—however that brings us to the question of the licence for the data. The chinadataonline.org/asp/agreement.asp doesn't look particularly Wikipedia-friendly (unless I've missed something). —Sladen (talk) 19:06, 8 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, I do know as well. For the File:1949 PRC map.png it be on many history of China administrative units atlas maps similar to this one: www.668map.com/overview/china/china_pic/china_1.gif. — ASDFGH =] talk? 19:27, 7 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. New Map for THSR after 3 new stations have been opened

[edit]

Hi ASDFGH,

Do you know how to make picture for Wikipedia? Because I think the THSR map (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:TaiwanHighSpeedRail_Route_en.gif) in the Wikipedia article (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taiwan_High_Speed_Rail#History) needs to be updated after 3 new stations have just recently been opened, making it 11 stations in total. The map still show 8 stations in operation. Thanks. Chongkian (talk) 01:20, 4 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hello ASDFGH, please try to choose a vendor neutral name when adding entries to Template:rail-interchange; for the moment I've reverted this[2]. When it a vendor/operator/franchise/sponsor name is added it defeats the point of why the template exists! Instead try to describe what the transportation system is, and the location of it. Then, as operators change, the logo and name can be easily updated without problem. —Sladen (talk) 00:18, 6 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Sladen for the tips, okay would plain "mtr" or "metro2" work because many metro systems in China more then one operator per metro system? — ASDFGH =] talk? 00:26, 6 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Try to choose things that aren't likely to change, so for the Shenzhen Metro, use {{rail-interchange|shenzhen|metro|1}}, {{rail-interchange|shenzhen|metro|2}}, …. This way you get the generic logo if you just add {{rail-interchange|shenzhen|metro}}, and the present correct colour/logo/operator (per table on Shenzhen Metro#Current System) if the number is also added at the end. And Bingo! when the operator for eg. Line 3 changes it only needs updating in a single location in {{rail-interchange}}, not hundreds of places across Wikipedia. —Sladen (talk) 00:34, 6 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there

[edit]

Hi, ASDFGH:

I am Wishva de Silva and I have saw your substantial edits for articles related to the city of Shenzhen.

I know the following may sound a little weird but please read it through if possible...This is not a mass message

For quite a while I have been looking for Wikipedians that would like to help in editing Shenzhen-related articles. Which, as you probably might have knew, are in a terrible shape and are nothing close in being encyclopedic. I have set up a WikiProject particularly focusing on Shenzhen but due to the lack of local Shenzhen editors I am currently in touch with, this project is still very much stagnant. Thus, as you probably might have guessed already, I really want help from people like you! So see if you can join this WikiProject, then slowly but surely we will improve the coverage of Shenzhen-related articles. Thank you!

Proposed deletion of Democratic Party (Japan) leadership election, 2010

[edit]

The article Democratic Party (Japan) leadership election, 2010 has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Vanishingly unlikely search term created by page move.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Citations for tables of prefecture-level divisions for each Chinese province

[edit]

When you updated the table of prefecture-level divisions for each Chinese province back on 11-12 December 2015, e.g. this or this, I noticed that you tried to add some references, which is great since it's not so easy to find good sources for these figures (as I discovered while cleaning up List of Chinese administrative divisions by area). But for the table of every province, the area column cites the Shenzhen or Baoding Statistical Yearbook, and the citation for the population column is also really messed up. Can you fix these when you have a chance? Thanks! Cobblet (talk) 07:46, 26 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Dalian North Railway Station

[edit]

Hi. I'm writing to try to inform you that yhere may be something wrong with your edition of Dalian North Railway Station. {{Infobox station}} has som parameters that must be strongly noticed, namely symbol_location and symbol. You apparently removed the correct codes and replaced with incorrect ones. In other words, symbol = metro under symbol_location = dalianmakes no sense. As an alternative you may want to type symbol_location= cn |symbol = metro, however it would just ruin the livery that is meant to be shown to the right of the station's name in preview mode. Please consider restore the last version of that page, or I'm taking actions. Super Wang 10:45, 22 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Forgive me for my spelling mistakes -- I am writing it on a smartphone rather than a PC. Hope you have a good day. Super Wang 10:47, 22 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

(talk page stalker) @Super Wang: I believe the symbols are currently correct. Usually only the system logo is shown and not the line number. (There are some exceptions but this is mostly consistent in Mainland China.) Jc86035 (talk) 10:52, 22 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Jc86035: Firstly I am not interested in TPS, and secondly, the current version by this user (ASDFGH) (off topic:what's that username all about?) does not show any symbols, let alone line numbers. I aim to make more people understand what a station is for, or in another way: if we are not using line numbers, why did they program them into the template? Super Wang 11:02, 22 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Super Wang: The symbols are not displaying on the mobile website for some reason. Jc86035 (talk) 11:04, 22 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Jc86035: You may be right on that... now tell me why using the Dalian Metro logo rather than line number. Super Wang 11:06, 22 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Super Wang: I don't really remember (I last worked on this about two years ago), but it was something to do with the connecting lines already being in |lines= (so putting them in the header would be unnecessary), as well as preventing clutter in the infobox title for stations with multiple connecting lines. (I have also added {{rail color box}} to the infobox, as it is in e.g. Futian Checkpoint Station.) Jc86035 (talk) 11:17, 22 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Line 1, Hefei Metro

[edit]

Hi. I revoked your edition in Line 1, Hefei Metro because of I found some mistakes. In Chinese railway system, the code of Hefei Railway Station is HFH and the code of Hefei South Railway Station is ENH. In IATA code HFE represent Hefei Xinqiao International Airport. In Hefei Metro system Hefei South Railway South Square station can not transfer to Hefei South Railway Station.

I am very glad to see you created the Hefei Metro page. But I also hope you thoroughly confirmed before editing. The English name of Line 1 in your edition was totally fault.

Please forgive my grammar mistake. My English grammar not very well. And wish you have a good day. - via User:Caoyuanlang2011 (User talk:Caoyuanlang2011) 14:07, 12 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

English names of Macanese political groups.

[edit]

In Macanese legislative election, 2013 and Template:Macanese legislative election, 2013, some of the english names of the groups are different from the government web site [4], for example "United Citizens Association of Macau" vs "Macau United Citizens Association" and "Union for Promoting Progress" vs "Progress Promotion Union". Do you think they should be corrected?--1.64.91.157 (talk) 21:32, 17 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that you've added some links pointing to disambiguation pages. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Nanjing–He County intercity railway, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Shuanglong Station (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

New Page Reviewing

[edit]
Hello, ASDFGH.

As one of Wikipedia's most experienced editors,
Would you please consider becoming a New Page Reviewer? Reviewing/patrolling a page doesn't take much time but it requires a good understanding of Wikipedia policies and guidelines; currently Wikipedia needs experienced users at this task. (After gaining the flag, patrolling is not mandatory. One can do it at their convenience). But kindly read the tutorial before making your decision. Dalian Metro station name moves

[edit]

Hi ASDFGH, May I ask that you take a pause from moving pages relating to China metro system articles unilaterally without discussion or a move request? You moved a bunch of pages for Dalian Metro stations to English translations over their Chinese names in pinyin. Do you have any official source for these English names? I'm afraid that if you introduce your own English translation of these station names where no official one exists this could be considered original research. Some of them are fine but other ones like Golden Pebble Beach could be up for debate. Could you point to a source or some other rationale for moving to these English translations? I feel that in the absence of English translations we need to have some discussion on which names to use. Thanks Heights(Want to talk?) 01:44, 10 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Recently, Dalian Metro Corporation published their last revision on Dalian Metro station names. [5] They are not original research name of these stations. — ASDFGH =] talk? 01:53, 10 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Ok great, just wanted to see where they came from because some of them are kind of weird. When I have some time I will try to add a source to those pages so it is clear the English name is an official translation. Thanks so much for the quick response.
