File source problem with File:Domingos Caldas Barbosa.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Domingos Caldas Barbosa.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of that website's terms of use of its content. However, if the copyright holder is a party unaffiliated from the website's publisher, that copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider verifying that you have specified sources for those files as well. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. File permission problem with File:GracilianoRamos.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:GracilianoRamos.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Eeekster (talk) 20:38, 23 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, there is a Manual of Style that should be followed to maintain a consistent, encyclopedic appearance. Non-free rationale for File:GracilianoRamos.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:GracilianoRamos.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Hi. When you recently edited Canção do exílio, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Epigraph (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Hi, thanks for your work in translating articles into en.WP (I presume some are translations). Please note that at en.WP, dates and years are not wikilinked unless there's a good reason to do so. Tony (talk) 02:49, 20 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The article Cadão Volpato has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, all newly created biographies of living persons must have at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Your move of Kronet til konge

[edit]

Hi! I saw you moved Kronet Til Konge to Kronet til konge, but the only explanation you gave was "Norwegian title rule", without a wikilink to that rule. I have started a discussion at Talk:Kronet til konge, because I think this move should be undone (my reasons are stated there). Please join in that discussion to support the reason you moved the article. MrMoustacheMM (talk) 22:25, 5 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I have moved this back to "Kronet Til Konge". If you reply at the talk page and support your move, we can discuss it there, and if consensus is gained to move it back to "Kronet til konge", we can move it then. MrMoustacheMM (talk) 18:13, 12 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Anonymous from the 21st century. I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you started, Smack (Brazilian band), for deletion because I don't think it meets our criteria for inclusion. If you don't want the article deleted:

  1. edit the page
  2. remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
  3. save the page

Also, be sure to explain why you think the article should be kept in your edit summary or on the article's talk page. If you don't do so, it may be deleted later anyway.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Ad Orientem (talk) 03:46, 31 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (File:Amebix Make Some Fucking Noise.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Amebix Make Some Fucking Noise.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Request reason:

I don't have any other accounts besides this one, I was quite surprised when I hear I was "abusing multiple accounts"

Accept reason:

Per below, I think this user was inadvertently caught in the same net with some obvious socks based on username similarity. If someone runs a checkuser which suggests otherwise, than a reblock would obviously be warranted. OhNoitsJamie Talk 14:21, 24 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@HJ Mitchell: - is this a case of someone making edits while logged out, or is there another named account? PhilKnight (talk) 03:23, 24 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Phil, It appears to be a case of multiple accounts, see here—half a dozen accounts with nigh identical usernames made almost the same disruptive edit to Godzilla (2014 film), each within minutes of the last. The others all appear to be throwaway accounts, but I'd struggle to believe there was no connection. I think I just blocked all the account en masse, so I hadn't realised Anonymous from the 21st century was an established editor or I might not have blocked indefinitely. If you want to run a CU, I'll defer I'll defer to you. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 12:35, 24 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
It's quite possible that another user created all of the other "anonymous" accounts as a Joe Job. Seems unlikely to me that an established editor would engage in such obvious socking like that. The only recent edits AFT21 made were noncontroversial copyedits. I'm going to unblock pending a CU (if that's even necessary). OhNoitsJamie Talk 14:14, 24 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Edit sumnmaries

[edit]

Hi there.

When editing Wikipedia, there is a field labeled "Edit summary" below the main edit box. It looks like this:

Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)

The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.

Filling in the edit summary field greatly helps your fellow contributors in understanding what you changed, so please always fill in the edit summary field. If you are adding a section, please do not just keep the previous section's header in the Edit summary field – please fill in your new section's name instead. Thank you. --Midnightdreary (talk) 12:34, 19 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on André Pretorius (musician) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Replaceable fair use File:Ciro Pessoa 2010.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Ciro Pessoa 2010.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 22:27, 21 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Edit summaries

[edit]

Hi. Could you please leave WP:ES, particularly when making a number of substantial changes to an article. It's frustrating for other editors to have to go through such changes (in this case, I'm referring to several consecutive edits on Comoros) in order to substantiate what was changed and why, and that they're GF edits. Punctuation vs Quotations

[edit]

Hey, it seems you have an interest in the proper placement of punctuation with regards to quotations. At least one of your edits at Slaughterhouse-Five suggests to me that you may not be aware of some of the specifics found at MOS:LQ. Essentially, if the quoted portion is a complete sentence, then the punctuation belongs within the quotation marks. This is considered to be the style here, regardless of regional preferences, which is indeed different than some MOS rules when it comes to regional differences.

Also, I will join the chorus of users above who would politely request that you include an edit summary for your edits. It doesn't need to be much; most of your edits that have shown up on my watchlist would be well-described by simply including "c/e" or "ce" (short for copyedit) in the edit summary. Thanks! I see you like to use M-dashes but you are using them incorrectly. According to our manual of style about this MOS:MDASH either use them without spaces on either side of them or use N-dashes. Skylab albums

[edit]

Hello, thank you for your contributions. However, articles you created such as Skylab V are problematic due to the fact that there is only one independent source, with the others being primary sources from the artist's own website. Per WP:NALBUMS, notability is not inherent just because an artist is notable - you must provide 3rd party sources discussing the album to show its notability. Having at least 3 independent sources would be considered sufficient, with perhaps even two in-depth sources being enough. In any case I can tell you worked hard on these articles and I appreciate that, and if you can find more sources for the articles they would be great and wouldn't need to be given ugly templates. Does this make sense? Sometimes I have a tendency to ramble lol. Well, please do find more sources, and I would then be happy to go through and review all the Skylab articles. Cheers! --‡ Єl Cid of ᐺalencia ᐐT₳LKᐬ 16:37, 27 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. I recommend redirecting all these Skylab related pages to the main article about the artist Rogério Skylab. These independent album articles do not have the sources available to be stand alone articles per WP:N and WP:NALBUM. Redirecting is an alternative to deletion and proposing for deletion per WP:ATD-R. This would be a good way to wait until reliable sources become available to add to these articles and then bring the qualified articles back to the main space. Thanks. ---Steve Quinn (talk) 02:49, 29 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Steve Quinn: - if this editor fails to respond to our notability and source concerns soon, it would certainly make sense for you to redirect these articles to the artist's page, and I would endorse such action assuming the sources fail to be improved. ‡ Єl Cid of ᐺalencia ᐐT₳LKᐬ 14:28, 3 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The article Skylab (2017 EP) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Fails WP:NALBUM, no evidence of independent notability, no charting singles, in-depth media coverage, etc.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. RonBot (talk) 17:21, 13 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello and thank you for your contributions. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, please note that there is a Manual of Style that should be followed to maintain a consistent, encyclopedic appearance.
