Diwali
Diwali is a five-day Hindu festival of lights which symbolises the spiritual victory of light over darkness and good over evil. It commemorates the day when Hindu god Rama, along with his wife-consort Sita and brother Lakshmana, returned to his kingdom of Ayodhya after defeating demon-king Ravana and following 14 years of exile. Celebrations peak on the night of the third day of the festival—the main day of Diwali, which is today—marking the darkest night of the Hindu lunisolar calendar. People celebrate on this day by lighting traditional lamps (diyas) and candles. Pictured here is a woman lighting candles on Diwali.Photograph credit: AjoyDutta1997; edited by Aristeas

About the recent change

[edit]

Hi Antonio, I really appreciate your time and help. I changed the page because I added 2 public news citations. I think that I forgot to mention it in the recent changes box. Should I revert it?

Thanks.

Valentinetzekas (talk) 07:48, 27 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

No, I added back one of the references. I will add the other one back. If you are the article subject it is best to put requests on the talk page. Thanks. Antonioatrylia (talk) 07:53, 27 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you!

Thank you for the addition of the table of contents to the page I made. Much appreciated! Blunt001 (talk) 09:39, 10 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

You are welcome. The article also needs a lead section at the very top. See WP:LEDE for help on that. Let me know if you have any questions. Antonioatrylia (talk) 09:45, 10 February 2017

Michael Bayard Article

[edit]

Thank you for the edits Antonio! This is a great practice project for me. I've add more edits. Can you please look at the page again before I resubmit? Soli58 (talk) 07:00, 7 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Sure. Will do today. Antonioatrylia (talk) 11:35, 7 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for checking the article again Antonio! I trimmed the content more and added some citations, but am unable to remove the "needs citation" tag. Also wondering about what to link. I looked at the Wiki page for guidelines, but it's very unclear. Can you look at the article one more time before I resubmit it? Thank you again!!! Soli58 (talk) 21:44, 9 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I will take a look later tonight or in the morning. Antonioatrylia (talk) 22:27, 9 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Soli58 I looked it over, and I am not seeing those youtube testimonials that had been used as references. (unless I missed one) That is good. Tidy up anything else you might want to and maybe you should submit it again. Please let me know if you have any more questions or need help. Antonioatrylia (talk) 05:05, 10 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you Antonio. I still the citation needed tag after I added citations. Should I submit the article with the tags or can you remove them before I submit? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Soli58 (talkcontribs) 21:03, 10 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I went through the draft again. Please check the link for the official website under external links.

It is not working for me. Antonioatrylia (talk) 21:59, 10 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I changed the external link. Should work now. Thank you soooo much for helping me on my practice project! I'm wondering if I should trim more of the promotional quotations before submitting? They are all verifiable but may still make the article seem to promotional. Soli58 (talk) 22:54, 10 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, it is best to trim anything promotional. There were one or two spots with quotes that were referenced to the subject's website. Since you have provided the website where the reader could go to read those. I would remove those quote referenced to his website. You are welcome for the help. You are a pleasure to work with. Antonioatrylia (talk) 23:34, 10 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you Antonio! You are also a pleasure to work with Soli58 (talk) 00:13, 11 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Antonio. I just resubmitted the article! I removed any promotional content and cleaned it up a bit more. I'll keep my fingers crossed! This has been a good project for me. Thank you soooo much again for all of your help! I'm looking forward to working on another article after this is hopefully accepted. Soli58 (talk) 00:35, 12 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Antonio! I saw on your page that you're considering retiring? Nooooooo! You are my favorite editor! I have a question: I am continuing to edit other articles, but keep going back to Michael Bayard's article and looking at the Rhythm Magic links. It interests me because it involves "risk of use" topics, which I am very interested in. What would you think of me writing an article about the Rhythm Magic program? I believe many people would benefit from knowing about programs such as these, and it may be a good place for me to start. While I love editing, I'd also like submitting articles. Thank you Antonio. Please don't retire!!!!!! Soli58 (talk) 17:49, 28 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Antonio! I'm trying to submit an article which is in draft form now titled: Rhythm Magic. Its been denied a few times. Can you look at it for me? I've trimmed promotional content, but still getting the "advertisement" rejection. I think its an important article as it is a great way to help at-risk-youth. Please suggest what I can do? thanks so much!!!!!!! Soli58 (talk) 17:24, 14 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Vanessa Parise page

[edit]

Thank you for the notes on Vanessa Parise's page. I didn't realize IMDB was not a usable source and when I saw "citation needed" I thought it was because I hadn't put one there in the first place. I didn't mean to be replacing links that were ruled un-unable. Cheers! Jen — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jjenred5 (talkcontribs) 16:02, 14 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Do not change the name again unless you provide a WP:RS reliable source independent of the article subject to cite the name change to for verifiability. Thanks. Antonioatrylia (talk) 05:57, 19 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

song credit

[edit]

hello, you've made a mistake citing Shawn James & the Shapeshifters as the author of Through the Valley when in fact it is my solo material just under Shawn James. Check Spotify or iTunes where the track comes from the Album Shadows and that it is in fact my solo material. My work with The Shapeshifters are a heavy southern Blues Rock sound. -Shawn James

Please see the citations on the talk page of the article. Three reliable sources do not agree with what you are saying. Antonioatrylia (talk) 11:22, 20 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Jessica Matten article

[edit]

Reliable Sources have been added and cited along with content. Please reconsider article deletion for Jessica Matten — Preceding unsigned comment added by Roughhead (talkcontribs) 22:48, 20 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I can see some have been added, unfortunately many do not even mention her. Notabilty is not inherited. The article is promotional and does not show notability for her. I will take another look later today. Antonioatrylia (talk) 22:54, 20 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your work at Paige Brooks

[edit]

Thanks for your work at Paige Brooks... I still don't think the notability is there but it will at least make it easier to judge the AFD going forward. Nice work. I'd just make the suggestion to check the citations against what they are asserting, for example it says she was a finalist at Miss USA, but she wasn't... none of the three citations there assert that. See here and in fact two of the citations are to the same article hosted on her site/fan site/whatever it is. --- PageantUpdater (talk) 11:41, 21 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for noticing. I have not even do e my searches yet. I am taking out most of the primaries and will find better citations hopefully and then we can see. That article eas in horrible. I happened to notice it on ANI while I was skimming thdre. So I clicked it. O my. Antonioatrylia (talk) 11:54, 21 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Oh my indeed! I was probably too hasty bringing it to ANI but the behaviour of the editors/their "ownership" of this article was concerning me and I wasn't sure it was wise waiting for the AFD tao take its course, especially as I could see it heading for relisting. You've done some sterling work here, hopefully the ANI will act as a wake up call to the editors to pay a little more attention to guidelines & policies so your edits stick. --- PageantUpdater (talk) 12:06, 21 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

And thank you for opening the sockpuppet investigation. Hopefully this will be the end of it all now. --- PageantUpdater (talk) 03:19, 22 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Or not. Did you see this? --- PageantUpdater (talk) 10:32, 22 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I skimmed it. I am really not so bothered. She got a checkuser block. Only a checkuser can unblock her. In the unblock request, she used her opportunity to try to bash me and said a bunch of lies and things that were not true. Blaming others in your unblock material never really works to well, as far as I have read in the couple ones I have read over. Who the heck knows?

Hey if you have time will you look over this guy, and in a five minute period of searches on your computer, let me know if you deem him to be notable. I would like your opinion on the article. It is here: Milcho Manchevski. Thanks! Antonioatrylia (talk) 10:46, 22 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Good to know. Hoped/figured someone would see through it. Yes of course, will go have a look now. My opinion on the notability of Paige Brooks probably seems weird to you given my username. The topic has gone through a really contentious year or so of AFDs and as such what seemed to qualify as notability changed so much the articles seem to have been held to very strict sense of notability. People with much more newspaper coverage than Brooks were being deleted due to the articles only being considered from "local" sources. Won't lie, the conflicting standards of what will and won't get deleted have left me very confused. --- PageantUpdater (talk) 10:58, 22 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
The current sources seem to be more about the films than the filmmaker but of course notability is based not on what references are in the article but what can be found. Most of what I can see on Google isn't from newspapers or sources which would generally seem to pass WP:RS (from magazines etc) but of course we're 20 years out from when he was most famous. A quick search of Newspapers.com seems to show much more coverage from the 1990s, the only problem is I can't really assess it properly as I don't have a subscriber account and can only see search snippets. I think on the whole the source material is promising, and of course this is only what I'm finding in English as well, I would assume there would be more in his native Macedonia. What a shame Google dismantled their news archive. --- PageantUpdater (talk) 11:06, 22 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
And of course I start to find the most promising sources on page 8... thanks Google ;) this this cover him in significant depth, as does this article from Film Quarterly which I think would qualify as a RS more than just your run-of-the-mill mag? --- PageantUpdater (talk) 11:20, 22 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Thank you for vastly improving this article. I appreciate your help in making it better. Today, I made some formatting changes, which I think are improvements and make it easier to read, etc., and I also added a few more items to the titlebox. Certain sentences needed to be relocated to the appropriate topic area. (i.e. L'Vegue should appear under Modeling as opposed to Film and Television.) Since it will be very difficult for me to re-add the improvements individually at this juncture, (and I do think you will agree that the formatting changes are making the article better), I will just do a revert and then an immediate edit to remove the added sources that you mention above and make sure that your sources stay. I think that way, we both can keep our good edits. I am only doing a revert because it is so much easier, not because I do not like or agree with your work and research. I hope you find this agreeable since it is so much easier for me. Thanks, again, for your help! SSIISS (talk) 23:09, 21 March 2017 (UTC)

Hi, again, Antonioatrylia. I was in the process of removing sources that you thought were unreliable, but then I realized that I have no idea to which sources you are referring. Could you please provide a list of sources that you think I should remove and I will do so? Or, I will provide more information on those sources so you can judge for yourself. All of the sources that I am using are verified (newspapers, magazines, legitimate websites, etc.) However, please let me know if it is done correctly. I will list the sources here for you and you can tell me which ones you think need more research, etc. I do strongly prefer the formatting and clean-up and hope that you like it, too. Multiple AfD nominations

[edit]

That's a very good question. I've never done that before. I see that nominating multiple articles is covered by WP:MULTIAFD, and my reading of that is that such articles need to have a relationship to each other, not just similar qualities. The technicalities are covered by WP:BUNDLE. Coretheapple (talk) 12:02, 29 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Antonioatrylia. I received your e-mail, but I prefer to talk on-wiki. It doesn't seem as though the proposal is going to gain consensus as is, although sometimes compromises happen. A lot of things are proposed, but most aren't adopted, and those that are are often modified to be more acceptable. No use worrying prematurely! I've been a Wikipedian for four years, which is not a particularly long time compared with others, but even over that time there have been a lot of changes. I've disagreed with some of them, but I believe in the project and have always been able to find many ways to contribute. I agree that helping new users get started can be fulfilling, but the proposal wouldn't stop you from doing that even if it passes. Any autoconfirmed user can improve draft articles and move them to mainspace.—Anne Delong (talk) 01:53, 1 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

BLPPROD on Rob Level

[edit]

I restored the BLPPROD you removed from the article. All of the sourcing was to blogs, iTunes/Spotify, was not independent of the subject, or was in some other way deficient from our RS standards. A validly placed BLPPROD on an article with no sources can only be removed if an RS is provided. Since I didn't see any, I went ahead and reverted so that an admin can review it. TonyBallioni (talk) 14:57, 26 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

TonyBallioni We are not in agreement that there are no reliable sources in the article. If you read over the policy at WP:BLPPROD you will see that when there is an objection, 2. however, in borderline cases, such as where a source of questionable reliability (rather than an obvious unreliable source) has been added, the biography should be listed instead at Articles for Deletion.

3. If a relevant and reliable source has been provided but you still believe the biography should be deleted, use one of the regular deletion processes.

I have removed the prod according to policy. Antonioatrylia (talk) 00:56, 27 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

That's fine. All of the sources provided are blogs or not independent of the subject, so I wouldn't consider them borderline under BLPPROD, they just aren't reliable by our standards. I'll take to AfD though. Not worth fighting over. TonyBallioni (talk) 00:58, 27 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Oh dear! I thought something must be up. I remember seeing Lil Cory before. Can you help me with on Riff Raff (rapper). The first reference is to LA Weekly which is a dead link now, plus it is only a blog. I know how to remove the reference, but it has 10-12 sub references to the same dead blog. How does one address those? Thanks for handling the Lil Cory incident. Antonioatrylia (talk) 10:48, 27 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
For dead links, wee WP:Dead link. I'm not sure I agree with you about LA Weekly given its Pulitzer Prize, etc. I suggest you ask at WP:RSN. See also this. As for the question, you'll just have to remove by hand, deleting quotes, adding cn tags where appropriate. Unless you use Wikiedit, which has search and replace tools. Ping me if you need more help, eg {{re|Doug Weller}} If you ping someone you have to get it right. If you save and find an error, you have to start a new edit as you can't fix a broken pin. Sir, this [1] was unwise. Did you not see my detailed commentary on the talk page? Seeking speedy deletion was unwarranted and uncivil on your part. You can't promote a two-vote AFD forever as the basis for denying notability. The subject's notability should rise or fall on the merits.--Milowenthasspoken 13:26, 14 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

This was unwise. That really sounds like a threat. I am certainly allowed to nominate an article for speedy deletion if I deem the subject not notable. It is not uncivil at all. It is not unwarranted in my view. I have addressed the issue you raise at the proper venue at the AFD. Kindly keep any further discussion there, or at the appropriate article talk pages. Thank you. You're not helping

[edit]

Your behavior on Ijeoma Oluo is not helpful. Please go to Talk:Ijeoma Oluo and explain exactly what it is that you're unhappy with. For example, if you think there is an unreliable source, can you say which one? Don't send other editors on an easter egg hunt trying to guess which of 24 citations you don't like. Your definition of "promotional links" is simply incorrect. Also, the lack of due diligence before submitting an AfD nomination, not cool either. --Dennis Bratland (talk) 17:05, 3 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

External links, promotional or not are not allowed in the body of the article. I am sure you must know that. My behavior is fine. I nominated an article for deletion with good faith. I have had that article on my watchlist for sometime.

Your behavior is atrocious. You need to remove those external links from the body of the article. They are against policy. Whoever put them back in has introduced errors back into the article. Don't come around here spouting your apparent newfound WP:OWNERSHIP of said article. Your accusation of not doing BEFORE is unfounded and incorrect. Antonioatrylia (User talk:Antonioatrylia)

DYK for Ijeoma Oluo

[edit]

On 24 February 2018, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Ijeoma Oluo, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that after the shooting of Trayvon Martin, Seattle author Ijeoma Oluo started writing about her social concerns on a blog that she had previously devoted to food? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Ijeoma Oluo. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Ijeoma Oluo), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.
