Cars 3[edit]

The reason I included the Guardian article is because they have mentioned that Pixar hasn't confirmed the news just yet. I don't really like to say that a film will be made on only the say-so of one actor when the company itself hasn't actually said that the film will be made. I've seen it happen where an actor involved with the film, sometimes even someone who would be considered to be a good source, will claim that something will definitely get made only for the film to never actually come to fruition. Sometimes it's just that someone was told something along the lines that something will likely happen and they took it to be truth. It could just be that they told Wallis that it was likely to happen and that they'll need him to research for now, but haven't actually confirmed anything. That's why I wanted to include that Pixar hasn't confirmed anything, which is what I really want in the article more than anything else. I'm just uncomfortable saying "yes this will happen" when only one person is saying that it will happen and the company itself isn't saying anything at all. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 17:17, 9 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

But, we don't claim that the film will be made or that Pixar has confirmed anything. The original quote is "Cars 3, we're coming back to the road. And we're coming back to 66 into 99. That's the road that runs right through central California." So, Wallis thinks that the third film will be made, and that is what it is reported. Nothing more. No unnecessary commentaries, which add nothing new to the article. Anybody can interpret his words as he/she wants, including in the way you wrote above.
Actually, I don't mind a commentary that Pixar has nothing confirmed so far. Because this is true and has a source. I have a problem with several other things:
  • "In mid-October 2013 The Guardian reported..." and "Pixar has not yet confirmed reports..." - The Guardian was not the first which reported about Wallis (actually it was 2 months late). Reports also do not matter, as the original source was Radio WGBZ and Wallis himself.
  • "that there were rumors..." - this is not a rumor. Wallis said something in an interview and his words are fact.
  • "production would soon begin." - this is not what Wallis said in the interview...
In addition, there are exclusive reports daily on various news portals. Should we add any time we cite them "but X hasn't confirmed anything yet"?--Carniolus (talk) 20:39, 9 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Just a heads up[edit]

I noticed you uploaded the original work from which I made derivatives from. The reason I didn't upload the original is because WP:WATERMARK forbids freely licensed images from being uploaded with a watermark, which is why I used derivatives. The copyrighted "Disney" and "Dolby" logos are also prominently displayed on the original which could inhibit free-use as well. I wasn't sure if you were aware of that, so just letting you know in case an admin notices it and opens a deletion review. DrNegative (talk) 17:04, 28 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think logos will be a problem as there are plenty of similar Disney and Dolby logos on Commons. Maybe only a proper license is missing. Regarding the watermark, I don't think Commons has a very strict rule that forbids watermarks. For example, on Removing watermarks, it says that watermarks "are generally discouraged," while the guideline for watermarks is currently only in a proposed state. There is a category on Commons with many similarly watermarked photos, which have been tagged for watermark removal, but not for deletion.--Carniolus (talk) 20:11, 28 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Stop icon

Your recent editing history at Geri's Game shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.

To avoid being blocked, instead of reverting please consider using the article's talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. See BRD for how this is done. You can post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection. Thanks for your input. I am baffled by what they are doing and I've just wasted, I fear, a chunk of my life looking at old MovieWeb pages. I've made one WP:AGF-ish attempt in case they are, I don't know, in some difficulty with what they're trying to achieve - but if that gets nowhere I think it needs admin help to stop them and protect us from the timewasting. Best wishes DBaK (talk) 13:03, 20 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

You are invited to join the discussion at Talk:Toy Story 3/GA1. Seeing that you are a frequent editor of the page - Toy Story 3 - I'll advise you to take part in the GA review going on here, being done by me. Your suggestions on the review, as it is going on, and your help will be highly appreciated. Thanx.

Disney vandalism from Vietnam[edit]

Hey Carniolus, I saw your revert here at Disney Television Animation. On a hunch I did a geolocate on the IP, which is located in Vietnam. Have you seen this article? Virtually the entire thing is a wall of gibberish "contributed" by Vietnamese vandals, or so I presume. Just a heads-up. :) Cyphoidbomb (talk) 19:55, 1 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Carnolius,

I don't understand your comment about the official logo I've uplodaded for the TV series Angelo Rules. Would you mind explaining me clearly what's the matter? I would be pleased to fix it. Same for the logo Plankton Invasion. Thank you, Constance — Preceding unsigned comment added by Constance Lassort (talkcontribs) 11:59, 6 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! There is nothing to fix :) Your Angelo Rules logo was replaced with a transparent version, which looks better in the infobox. Since your logo is a non-free file that is not used anymore, it needs to be deleted from Wikipedia. By the way, your image was too big for a non-free file: WP:Image resolution.
Regarding the Plankton Invasion logo - I've only moved it into the infobox, which is the usual place for a logo.--Carniolus (talk) 14:26, 6 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Yes, you are right, this logo is not stored in the vector format. It seems like that Marvel is quite protective of its own logos, since I've tried several times to find one for Marvel Studios, but without luck so far.--Carniolus (talk) 13:44, 21 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

August 2014[edit]

Could you please explain what you mean by "Third-party sources must themselves discuss about those 'historical inaccuracies'"? Wikipuser777 (talk) 20:50, 6 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. On Wikipedia, we can't draw our own conclusions, so we can cover only what is explicitly written in reliable sources. Sources you added don't discuss about historical inaccuracies in the film, and at least one of them is not reliable, since it can be edited by anyone. For more information, please see WP:ORIGINAL and WP:ORIGINALSYN.--Carniolus (talk) 21:20, 6 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, but both sources are from Encyclopaedia Britannica, which is widely regarded as a reputable source. Furthermore, the articles confirmed what really happened in history. Wikipuser777 (talk) 22:41, 6 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Wikipuser777 is now blocked for edit warring, but nonetheless: the sources must discuss the movie and its inaccuracies. For them to compare the movie with the Brittanica and say "this or that is inaccurate", that's the definition of original research. In addition, Mr. Peabody & Sherman is an animated sci-fi movie for kids, so this is all kind of trivial to begin with. One might as well take issue with the very first clause of the very first sentence of the plot summary: "Mr. Peabody is a talking dog". Wikipuser--dogs don't talk. At least not in English. Drmies (talk) 22:55, 6 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Upon closer inspection, it looks like this is a case of persistent addition of unsourced content. I have semi-protected the page to prevent further disruption. It would be helpful, however, if you labeled your reverts as "removed unsourced claim" or the like, and not "vandalism". The edits appear more like a content dispute, not outright vandalism. This lead me to believe this was an all too common edit war. I did my own research, however, and the IP's additions appeared to be mere unsourced original research. Next time, do not continually revert other's changes and clutter the page history. Simply report the user or the page to WP:RPP and wait for preventive measures to be put in place. Thanks — MusikAnimal talk 16:03, 7 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • The amount of text that I added is not particularly out-of-scale. As the weeks pass after this film was released, many users will likely add plot details. How much plot matter to add, will likely keep on being a bone of contention :: often one man's trivia is another man's important relevant matter.
  • I bold-faced the characters' names in the list of actors because they were hard to pick out otherwise.
Anthony Appleyard (talk) 21:01, 16 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Problems:
  • What does the quote add to the plot?
  • WP:FILMPLOT clearly says: "Plot summaries for feature films should be between 400 and 700 words". Since this film is not "unconventional", "the summary should not exceed the range."
  • "Voice actors" header is redundant as every actor in this film is a voice actor.
  • Roles are never bolded as per WP:FILMCAST: "Also, per Wikipedia's Manual of Style on boldface, please limit boldface to table headers and captions. Actors and roles should not be bolded."
  • Unsourced information that looks like original research: "Everything in the movie was CGI. There are a few side-view-of-airplane-shaped mountains.".
--Carniolus (talk) 21:19, 16 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I can't say if those details are necessary or not (the quote definitely is not), since I haven't seen the film, but from my experience, such a lengthy plot is just a few expansions away from being stripped down again to a bare minimum - much less than 700 words - or it will be stuck with an "over-detailed plot" note forever. This can be prevented only if every over-limit expansion is automatically reverted.--Carniolus (talk) 21:57, 16 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • This looks like running into the endless war again between inclusionists and exclusionists. This depends on whether there is a link to a website elsewhere which describes the plot in more detail. For example, long descriptions of plots in Star Trek and Stargate etc episodes is not so much needed in Wikipedia because those serieses each have their own wikis. Inclusion of The Incredibles Franchise in Template:Pixar[edit]

Well hi there User:Carniolus. I hope you remember me. Anyways you say that only existing articles should be there in navboxes. That is indeed true but that is not a rigidly strict rule. I suggest you take another look at WP:EXISTING, it says that a red link can be created as long as it is very likely to be made into an article. Incredibles (franchise) definitely satisfies that exception. It is notable, article stuff and is definitely going to be made sooner or later. Thus i think it is eligible for inclusion in the navbox. Plus it is going to help find someone willing to make an article on it. Someone might look at it and create an article through the link. And, anyways, it's not going to hurt anyone, is it?. King Of The Wise (talk) 09:00, 6 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I don't think that a franchise article will be created any time soon. The Incredibles 2 does not even have a release date, and according to the List of Pixar films, it can't be released before 2017. Even then it would be too soon, since a franchise article with two films released can't offer almost no additional value. In my opinion (and some other editors agree: Talk:Rio 2#Rio film series) we should wait for a third film or maybe a television series, before we create the franchise article. This means that the Pixar's navigation box would have a red link for at least three years, and if we wait for the third film, maybe forever.--Carniolus (talk) 11:39, 6 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Um, er, well, er (Man, i am completely at a loss off words!). Well I reckon that by the time you read this you might have already seen what all I have already done since creating this section on your talk page. But Finding Nemo too has a Franchise page. It also has just two films and is not going to be released anytime soon. And anyways the franchise article can be created anytime (any article can be created anytime if it is about a notable and confirmed title with enough references supporting it). Plus I think we have enough material to fill the franchise page, just like the Finding Nemo Franchise page. The Franchise page, aferrall, is not only about the films. We have got Video Games, Merchandise, Short Films and much more. I think we can indeed create (unless some idiot has already done so :p) a franchise page with a summaritical info of all this. King Of The Wise (talk) 12:23, 6 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Video games, merchandise, one short film... do not make something a franchise. All that is standard media which supplements almost all animated films. Currently, the franchise article for The Incredibles would contain exactly the same information that is already in the film's article, only condensed, and would be therefore redundant. A franchise article's role is to tie many articles together, and offer readers some additional value, like tables where various data can be compared. The Finding Nemo franchise is one such example of an article, which gives no additional information...--Carniolus (talk) 21:15, 6 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Carniolus. I was wondering if you could do me the favor of uploading an SVG vector image of the Amblin Entertainment logo, which I have already found stored as a vector image on page 9 of this PDF file. I still don't possess the necessary skills to perform such a task, so I'd be much obliged! Thank you, ~ Jedi94 (Want to tell me something?) 19:18, 14 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

No problem. I found it too some time ago, but since it isn't colored, I wan't sure how it would be accepted.--Carniolus (talk) 19:34, 14 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Vietnam IP Disney vandals[edit]

Hi Carniolus, saw your recent reversions at a couple of Disney articles including here. I don't understand the background behind it, but I've been dealing with a vandal/or vandals who vandalizes obscure Disney articles from Vietnam-based IPs, typically out of Ha Noi. The edits you reverted were part of their campaign. I mentioned them to you before on your talk page several months ago. Anyhow, if you're curious about the scope of the disruption, please see this list. Thanks for your eagle-eyed reversions! Cyphoidbomb (talk) 16:54, 18 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! Yeah, I've noticed that those edits are coming from the same editor. It is getting annoying to have to continuously revert same edits day after day. Since banning an editor with dynamic IPs is impossible, I am surprised that no one has already protected those articles. Next time the vandal returns, I'll automatically request for protection. And thanks for your anti-vandalism work too!--Carniolus (talk) 20:21, 21 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

New Drafts incoming[edit]

Hi. We have incoming drafts to you for the following:
Draft:Cuppy (animated series)
Draft:Astig
Draft:Demolition Job
If you don't know when the publish an draft to article. Please let me know. Thank you. Lara Maigue (talk) 14:39, 24 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! Please don't be too quick with creating new articles for television shows that are not notable. As it was explained by a reviewer of Astig, you have to have reliable references to "adequately evidence the subject's notability." Since Cuppy is just a 1-minute short film with no coverage on the internet, and "Astig" and "Demolition Job" are two Philippine television shows that are not particularly notable for the English Wikipedia, I don't think that any of those articles is worthy to be created.--Carniolus (talk) 19:29, 24 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Talk page archive[edit]

Hey C, were you aware that Lara Maigue (poorly) set up a talk page archive on your talk page? Was that something you wanted her to do? She's been indeffed as a vandal, FYI. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 17:34, 25 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! Thanks four your concern. No, I did not want her to do that, but apparently the page was too slow to load, so I left her additions alone. I've tweaked some settings and restored this year's topics, so I think everything should be set up properly now.--Carniolus (talk) 19:42, 25 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Avenger2015[edit]

Hi Carniolus, I saw your edit here where you re-added some of the cast to the article. I'm not going to revert your edit, but I hoping to encourage you to reconsider for the following reasons: 1) The infobox contains a list of the most important actors. 2) The List of Characters articles contains all the noteworthy character info. 3) We've had problems with a sockpuppeting user, [Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Avenger2015/Archive Avenger2015] adding ponderous lists of every character large or small who appeared in various TV series. Even a minor list is a cruft magnet as is evident here, here and here. If you're not interested in removing the list, I might counter-propose that the content be presented in prose, so as not to visually entice list cruft. Thanks, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 21:12, 23 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
