Help please! I have received the following message:

Since you asked about how to get precise coordinates and make them into an active link:

• Getting the data: Many people extract them from URL's of services such as Google Maps, but the good folks at GISWiki have made it very easy.
  • Go to the GIDWiki site.
  • Note form on the left. Note Google Map insert to your right.
  • Navigate to your precise location (say, the train station in Macclesfield, UK), using Google Map navigation semantics. You may switch to satellite view to help you locate your point of interest. When you are satisfied that the location of interest is visisble, left-mouse-click on it (Map, Satellite, or Hybrid views).
    • A marker appears above the location
    • The left hand form will display the latitude and longitude
  • Additional buttons will generate preformatted strings for various purposes, including the Wikipedia {{coor}} coordinate template, though this is now deprecated. The favored coordinate template is {{Coord}}
• Making an active link: Pick your coordinate template of choice. See WikiProject Geographical coordinates for a review. Here's how I set up the link for the Macclesfield train station using the Coord template to obtain results similar to those you saw on the NYC Meetup talk page

WHO All Wikipedians and non-Wikipedians are invited to participate in team of up to three (no special knowledge is required at all, just a digital camera and a love of the city). Bring a friend (or two)!

Our next Wikipedia NYC Meetup is this weekend on Saturday Dec 4 at Brooklyn Museum during their awesome First Saturdays program, starting at 5 PM.

A particular highlight for the wiki crowd will be 'Seductive Subversion: Women Pop Artists, 1958–1968', and the accompanying "WikiPop" project, with specially-created Wikipedia articles on the artists displayed on iPads in the gallery.

Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.

Saw your link on Wikepedia site concerning the S.S. Andrew Hamilton, a WWII Liberty ship that saw duty in Europe. My father was a Navy gunnery officer on this ship. I inherited his photo album of him and his crew on this vessel. I know he saw duty in the North Sea and in North Africa. But, I have no idea if all was on board the S.S. Hamilton.
