[edit]

Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from Zoran Milanović into Social Democratic Party of Croatia. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. Please provide attribution for this duplication if it has not already been supplied by another editor, and if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, you should provide attribution for that also. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. — Diannaa (talk) 00:30, 5 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for pointing that out! I'm still very new to this, I read that somewhere in the guides but completely forgot about it. I would have added it immediately, but has it been fixed already by you?. CroatiaElects (talk) 09:08, 5 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
yes. — Diannaa (talk) 22:53, 5 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
hi! a question about this, does copying a single citation/reference from another article count in this as well? CroatiaElects (talk) 13:48, 7 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You only need to provide atribution if you copy prose that someone else wrote. A citation or reference contains no creative content; therefore attribution is not required. — Diannaa (talk) 16:32, 7 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

(To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, it's important to understand and adhere to guidelines about using information from sources to prevent copyright and plagiarism issues. Here are the key points:

  • Limited quotation: You may only copy or translate a small portion of a source. Any direct quotations must be enclosed in double quotation marks (") and properly cited using an inline citation. Read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on ”text”. Additionally, Help:Referencing for beginners offers guidance on how to cite sources.
  • Paraphrasing: Beyond limited quotations, you are required to put all information in your own words and structure it properly, adhering to the principles of paraphrasing. Following the source's wording too closely can lead to copyright issues and is not permitted; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when paraphrasing, you must still cite your sources to verify the information and demonstrate that it is not original research.
  • Image use guidelines: We have strict guidelines on the usage of copyrighted images. Fair use images must meet all ten of the non-free content criteria to be used in articles, or they will be deleted. Any other images used on Wikipedia must be available under a free and open copyright license that permits commercial and derivative reuse.
  • Copyrighted material donation: If you hold the copyright to the content you want to copy, or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license the text for publication here. However, unlike many other sites that allow content licensing for site use while retaining non-free ownership, Wikipedia requires that content release be irrevocable, worldwide, and either into the public domain (PD) or under a suitably free and compatible copyright license. Please see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • Copying and translation within Wikipedia: Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without proper attribution. If you want to copy or translate content from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps outlined at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. See also Help:Translation § License requirements.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices. Persistent failure to comply may result in being blocked from editing. If you have any questions or need further clarification, please ask them here on this page, or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you. — Diannaa (talk) 22:18, 6 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I see you actually copied it from Cabinet of Andrej Plenković I. I have had to remmove the same material from that article as well, where it's been present since 2017. You had no way of knowing. — Diannaa (talk) 22:23, 6 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi. I'm sorry to bother you, and I know this is not relevant to this topic here, but I didn't want to create a new one, while my "Mentor" doesn't seem to reply for days to other questions (i've never talked with them before) and The Teahouse seems pretty intimidating. I was writing a section for an article in my Sandbox (which I've not used before) and it took me quite a long time and a lot of work. But, now it's all gone. I'm sure I saved it, but all the articles I used and everything in my browser stayed open. Before, while I was writing it, I had to leave/refresh page or smth and I copied it to make sure to be safe, but when I came back it reloaded, it was autosaved in the sandbox. Now, I can't find anything anywhere, when I enter the sandbox, I'm creating it from scratch again (but I'm sure I saved it). Am I just not seeing it? Can you please give me any advice, is there anything I can do? Is it saved anywhere? Could an admin do anything? Thank you. CroatiaElects (talk) 12:36, 7 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry but I checked your contributions and your deleted contributions (there were no deleted contributions) and found no evidence that you had ever created your sandbox. There's nothing in draft space either. The content you were working on will not be present anywhere on our servers unless you saved the page, so there's nothing we can do unfortunately. — Diannaa (talk) 16:31, 7 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

MEPs of EFA/PES

[edit]

Hi CroatiaElects,

I took the liberty to revert the change you made to the template for the number of MEPs members of European parties.

As indicated in the template, the most reliable source for these numbers is the APPF, which regularly posts the official number of MEPs that are members of European political parties. Sticking to this source would ensure that the numbers displayed are accurate, consistent, and regularly updated.

Hope that makes sense!

Best,

2A03:1B20:B:F011:0:0:0:A06D (talk) 17:21, 1 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi!
I understand, it's just that on different articles (for example PES, S&D, EP + the template) there's different data and it's really confusing.
Looking at the European Parliament website, it seemed like the EP article infobox was completely correct so I went to change it in accordance to those numbers. But I completely forgot about individual membership and the fact that most of the articles ignore them and tend to list independents as separate from the europarties, because there isn't often a clear source of all listed individual members for an europarty.
That's why I actually am so glad there's the APPF source I didn't know about, bcs unlike EP website it lists all the data really well, even membership of europarties and it's a concrete precise source. The only problem you could say is, that it seems to not be a very up to date source as for example the lists of MEPs by europarty are from September 2023 and a lot can and has changed since. Maybe APPF as the foundation (very useful especially for individual europarty membership) and then adding changes based on other sources. It feels weird still having an MEP under his former party when he obviously switched to another one and there's many sources, even EP official website member profile that show that change.

Idk, but we definitely need to make it consistent across different articles. CroatiaElects (talk) 17:58, 1 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, I agree with the consistency bit. And that's why the template is useful, so it should be used more consistently and that's something to work on. As for the update, sure, there are changes more often than once a year (which is pretty much how often the APPF updates its data), but consistency and official figures are probably more important than exact timeliness. Finally, you have to make sure not to confuse figures for European parties and for parliamentary groups, so numbers are bound to be different for PES and S&D, for instance -- that's just normal. 2A03:1B20:B:F011:0:0:0:A06D (talk) 19:50, 2 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi again! Yes, I think we agree. But for the last part, I'm not confusing groups and europarties. I was thinking about individual party data that's also different between articles. For example, Italian PD having 18 MEPs according to S&D article, 14 on PES and 15 on its own article. (I made up the numbers, not exactly corrrect but just an example). When you add all of those up of course you also have different values for europarties. But yeah CroatiaElects (talk) 19:58, 2 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Which is also why it gets tricky to always have the latest data, because it needs to be constantly updated everywhere and multiplies the risk of inconsistencies. I would support more stable data and clear links to parties websites. As to your example, you could definitely have members of the same party sitting in different groups. 2A03:1B20:B:F011:0:0:0:A06D (talk) 20:01, 2 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Forgot to add that these official numbers are what counts for the calculation of European party funding, so they are relevant in themselves, even if they don't reflect the latest figures for MEP membership, which can always be found on party websites. 2A03:1B20:B:F011:0:0:0:A06D (talk) 19:58, 2 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
you're right, thanks for the info 👍 CroatiaElects (talk) 20:03, 2 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Review of ALDE membership

[edit]

Hi, I saw your comment regarding the membership section of ALDE. Thanks for taking the time to update it. Not sure when the members were last updated, so it's great that you get to it. This being said, when you say "it's completely wrong, there are no associated members but affiliated members"; is there a major difference? It feels like a different term for the same thing. I may have changed that name the other day when I harmonised these sections across the various European parties (didn't touch the members themselves), but is that particularly relevant? Really wondering. Julius Schwarz (talk) 18:20, 30 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

no, I didn't mean it like the name difference is wrong but the fact that a lot of parties are in the wrong categories is. I probably worded myself badly, it's not the end of the world, but I was just surprised when I realized it. For example, I never knew GLAS, HNS, HSLS from Croatia weren't full members. CroatiaElects (talk) 18:29, 30 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, all good then. Thanks for reviewing this! Julius Schwarz (talk) 18:31, 30 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I just realized that didn't sound the way I meant it. It's obviously not "completely" wrong, not even close so that's not correct. I don't wanna sound rude or unappreciative of other editors who update it. About the "affiliate/associate" membership type name thing, I suppose it's not important, but I still think the wording of ALDE/any europarty should be used idk
also btw, I wanted to say I really appreciate the work you've been doing on harmonizing the europarty pages! and the europarty seat numbers stuff with the APPF source, the notes on individual members... all that :) CroatiaElects (talk) 18:37, 30 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
