Ways to improve Noli me tangere (Correggio)

[edit]

Hi, I'm Boleyn. DilletantiAnonymous, thanks for creating Noli me tangere (Correggio)!

I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. PLease WP:INLINECITE your sources; this will make it far easier for other editors to expand the article, and for readers to use it for research. It's also very hard for anyone but the creator to rectify this, without going to a lot of trouble.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can leave a comment on my talk page. Or, for more editing help, talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse.

I have been tagging and assessing some milhist articles and see that you have started adding tags. Thankyou. If you look at Heinrich Julius Alexander von Kalb and look at the edit page, you will see how I have made the translation tag appear the same size as the others. When you add the Template:WikiProject Military history, you probably copy it fully to the talk page and then delete the unwanted bits. It would be useful if you left the assessment part (B-Class 5-criteria checklist and the five points) behind. Thankyou in advance. Cinderella157 (talk) 08:44, 7 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Warning

[edit]

DilletantiAnonymous, you have not responded to my previous messages; please be aware that WP:Communication is required. You have continued to create unreferenced articles; all articles need sources and the WP:BURDEN is on the creator to WP:VERIFY the information they add - I'd encourage you to click on these links. With an article like Cimetière Sainte-Marguerite, it has 'external links'. These are usually 'friendly suggestions' rather than sources - are they actually your sources? If so, can you please change the heading from 'External links' to 'References' or 'Sources', and preferably WP:INLINECITE them? That makes it so much easier for the reader to see where you have got your information and how reliable it is. I'm happy to help you, just ping me, but please do respond to my message and please do not continue to create articles with no clear references. Best wishes, Boleyn (talk) 09:42, 22 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Perhaps you could actually assist in finding references rather than being so keen to be the References Police? It's often the result of translating foreign-language ones which didn't have references and which I'm still scratching around for references to make up that deficit. I know, I should hold off on translating until I have sources, yada yada, but the need for translation seemed to outweigh that. I'm making a list of my ones with this issue here so you, me and the world and his wife can assist in this noble cause. DilletantiAnonymous (talk) 11:32, 23 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I used to think the same, and created many unreferenced articles. I was pretty sure on their content, but there turned out to be serious errors and it cost far more time to rectify than if they'd been deleted and started from scratch. Unreferenced articles on other Wikipedias are not reliable. The articles you've created lack verified information, and it will be very difficult for someone else to go sentence by sentence verifying it. It would be worth you looking at WP:BURDEN - it is your responsibility, no one else's, to verify the information you add to Wikipedia. Boleyn (talk) 18:52, 23 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The article Helmut Glück has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this biography of a living person will be deleted after seven days unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp/dated}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a notice to inform you that a tag has been placed on Stefano Bonsignori requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, images, a rephrasing of the title, a question that should have been asked at the help or reference desks, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

Hi DilletantiAnonymous,
I've noticed there is no internet English language mention of this purported series of paintings, aside from this article. Similarly it:Storie di Mosè ed Evangelisti - la cosa stessa ed il problema identico. It would appear to me a concatenation of two different series of works by Beccafumi. Your thoughts about this?

I am worried after going through some of your pages (not even all of them) just for 10 July that you may have hundreds if not thousands of paintings which may not have the title italicized and, as importantly, missed on artist's templates. You don't seem to add your pages onto the templates, and there, as I mentioned, could be hundreds of pages missed. If you've kept a list of painting pages you've created somewhere that would help tremendously. Thanks. Randy Kryn (talk) 01:50, 11 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your article stubs about important paintings

[edit]

I see you are on a roll to reduce the backlog on the Gentileschi painters. Thanks so much for that! I also did some work on both of them a while ago and if you do find an image on Commons to use in one of your stubs, then I think you will find also that I already linked it to its Wikidata item. From there is a small step to adding your new article title to the Wikidata sitelink for said painting. I believe there is a way to add the Wikidata references automagically into your stub, thus decreasing your chances of getting annoyed messages from Wikipedians who don't like to see reference-less stubs showing up in their watchlists. In any case, I don't want to burden you with extra tasks, but after adding sitelinks for several of your recent creations I thought I would take a stab at convincing you that adding your new articles to Wikidata is a helpful thing to do. Thanks in any case for the work you have already done. Jane (talk) 08:35, 11 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Unreferenced orphan substubs

[edit]

Just to echo the comments above, it is great that you are creating new articles on important artworks. Given the rate you are working, I suspect you are using some sort of semi-automated algorithm, perhaps based on machine translation or the content at Wikidata. Just three comments.

  • Unreferenced: Please could you consider adding at least some references, even if just a link to a catalogue raisonée or (where relevant) a museum page.
  • Stubby: Some of them are nice little articles, but many are one line substubs (eg Woman by a Window, which indidenally I suspect should be moved to Woman at the Window). Where you can, please add more.
  • Orphan: I know you are adding categories, but please could you add the navigation template for the artist, where one exists, eg {{Caspar David Friedrich}}, and add the new articles to the template too. That at least ensures that there are some links from other articles to your new ones, so there is more chance that someoene else might spot them and improve them.

Thanks again. 213.205.198.245 (talk) 11:10, 14 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

References; notability

[edit]

Please do take on board the points that previous editors have made about referencing / sourcing the picture stubs you are producing in quantity, and also, that not every painting of which there is an image in Commons is notable enough for an independent article. [edit]

An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Good and Evil (painting), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Athanase Coquerel (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver).

Something like that should have been proposed on the talk page first. Currently you have managed to screw up the references on both articles, and the Tiepolo doesn't seem to link to the generic one. Have you sorted incoming links? Quality is important as well as quantity. Johnbod (talk) 15:30, 20 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Templates

[edit]

You are wonderful, and are filling the Wikipeda artist's collections . Yet please (pretty please with an original Rubens sketch on top) consider adding your pages to the artists templates, and the templates to the pages (past, present, and future?). I and others can catch some of them, but judging from your recent output, how many of your art articles are missed, untemplated, and alone out there in the Wikipedian universe. Dozens, hundreds? I dare to say, more? You deserve podium status (you can tell what I'm watching on the tube), but please remember the finicky template fans and readers, and throw us a few. Thanks. Please stop these drastic undiscussed category changes!

[edit]
  • You have emptied Category:Etchings by Rembrandt. This should be discussed, as should any significant rearrangement.
  • Please DON'T add relatively common prints to individual museum categories - these will be in over 100 museums. See the note on the BM page: "Drawings in the Department of Prints and Drawings at the British Museum, and prints with a special connection with the collection that is mentioned in the article, for example unique copies. Most common, and very many rare prints, will also be in the collection, but should not be categorized here." Categories need to be "defining" for the object, and for most prints being in a particular collection is not.
  • Please format your refs correctly, and call them references. No bare urls please.
  • Where there is an English version of a museum page, please use and reference that - this will avoid mistakes arising from your own translations

It is good to see new articles, even if very short, but frankly following you around and tidying up is becoming irksome! Thanks, Johnbod (talk) 14:26, 3 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
