Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you recently copied the contents of a page and pasted it into another with a different name. Specifically, you copied the contents of Percula clownfish and pasted it into Orange clownfish. This is what we call a "cut and paste move", and it is very undesirable because it splits the article's history, which is needed for attribution and is helpful in many other ways. The mechanism we use for renaming articles is to move it to a new name which both preserves the page's history and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. In most cases, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page. If there is an article that you cannot move yourself by this process, follow the instructions at Wikipedia:Requested moves to request the move by another. Also, if there are any other articles that you copied and pasted, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut and paste move repair holding pen. Thank you. Deor (talk) 04:02, 25 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It's been fixed. An admin has moved Percula clownfish to your new title and merged the histories, leaving a redirect at the Percula name. Deor (talk) 04:22, 25 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I just came across the page you made recently, Stichodactyla mertensii (in a list of pages using the old-fashioned {{ref}} citation system), and thought it was well done, and I should let you know. So, thanks for the good page, and keep up the good work. If you haven't heard of it, you might also be interested in contributing your work to Citizendium, a alternative to Wikipedia with some interesting ideas. Hello

[edit]

Thanks for the note about the edit I made.

I don't think that the Reef restoration section is anything other than an add for the low voltage ideas on one person. The low voltage current idea has only been used on a few 'showcase' reefs outside hotels and as a show piece at confrences. If you want to include a section on reef restoration it should include many different restoration techniques not just Tom Goreau's ideas. Also it should be made clear that all reef restoration technologies as they currently stand are only economically viable on very small areas.

As for the edit of the introduction I haven't changed anything except the reef restoration section since February. So I don't mind what reverts were made there.

I will add the little rant above to the Discussion page of the coral reef page so that others can decide about the suitability of the reef restoration section.

Science lovers wanted!
Hi! I'm serving as the wikipedian-in-residence at the Smithsonian Institution Archives until June! One of my goals as resident, is to work with Wikipedians and staff to improve content on Wikipedia about people who have collections held in the Archives - most of these are scientists who held roles within the Smithsonian and/or federal government. I thought you might like to participate since you are interested in the sciences! Sign up to participate here and dive into articles needing expansion and creation on our to-do list. Feel free to make a request for images or materials at the request page, and of course, if you share your successes at the outcomes page you will receive the SIA barnstar! Thanks for your interest, and I look forward to your participation! SarahStierch (talk) 03:49, 21 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Amphiprioninae page

[edit]

Hi Esoxid,

noticed that you removed the external link on the Amphiprioninae page - (Removed link from user QuickieGBR. It's a commercial site for reef cruises.)

I just wanted to clear something up with you. Firstly, I'm not seeding Wikipedia to sell more cruises for the company.

You are correct that Reef Biosearch is owned by a commercial cruise company, no doubt and no secret. There are about 8 marine bio's on staff, some pretty smart and some of the most well respected dudes in the GBR who publish information from time to time about the reef and Reef Biosearch is their outlet. The site itself is not a commercial enterprise(apart from the company logo on the bottom and 1 text link on the homepage), it is purely an information resource. Preach about how awesome the GBR is might make people want to go on a cruise but more importantly it educates them on the significance of the reef.

I'm not a sales guy, i'm just their digital dude. I think they're content is quality and have a lot of respect for their work, my goal is for more people to see it.

Sorry for the essay! It's no dramas if you still think the external link shouldn't be there, but i just wanted to explain why i put it there in the first place. Given that you are obviously passionate about the same things and a big contributor to MBio on Wiki i'm happy to take on board any feedback. Cheers,

Micrixalus

[edit]

Hello, thanks for updating Micrixalus and the new species articles! I have just one comment: you have put the new species into Ranidae, whereas all major sources I can think about (ASW, AmphibiaWeb, Vitt & Caldwell, Blackburn & Wake) recognize Micrixalidae as a family. Also Biju et al. 2014 recognize Micrixalidae. Using the speciesbox template instead of taxobox would automatically take care of this. Micromesistius (talk) 16:52, 10 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for catching that. I hopefully would have noticed that when I expanded them beyond the basics today. I wasn't even aware of the speciesbox template, so thank you for informing me of that! Esoxidtalkcontribs 17:05, 10 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
