Savaglio & Pacini

[edit]

I am updating the Pacini page and a *few* years ago I saw you have worked on it. If you ever get a chance or are curious please tell me if I make any mistakes. I finished Sandra Savaglio, though I am thinking of adding where she taught. Pacini I am just starting and you can see it in my sandbox: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:MichaelDenisCassidy/sandbox regards Michael

Jeans Instability

[edit]

Could you possibly take a look at the articles for the Jeans instability sometime? I would value your feedback. We currently have several closely-related articles -- Jeans_Instability, Jeans_length and Jeans_mass. I think they could be strengthened by combining them. My best thinking is that we should keep the Free-fall_time article distinct.

Got your note. My apologies! I do try to incorporate existing text but I got a bit carried away there. You are right, the image is from the Smithsonian. There is an incredibly similar version at Baltimore. I'll be more careful next time :) --Worldofdew 02:09, 6 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

  • Thanks! I was thinking of taking a crack at Frieseke at some point, though if you were preparing anything I'll hold off--he's not as well known to me as the others. I like your entry on Hassam. Vandals galore

[edit]

Hi Etacar! Long time no talk. I've been away from Wikipedia for a lot of time, hehe. Guess what, some vandal who is angry at you has created an Etacar12 account and is posting some incredibly childish comments around the pedia. I don't remember the rules, but I have the feeling that impersonating is BAD hehehe. Drop me a message if you need some support to kick this child a bit ;) Sarg 17:54, 21 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

George Field

[edit]

Hi Etacar11, thanks for catching the possible copyright violation on George Field. I thought it was a shame he didn't have a writeup and wanted to correct the situation. I will send him an e-mail with a request to use the text of his website.

Rtfisher

Well, George stated that in his experience, wikipedia "is not sufficiently reliable to be useful," and requested that his bio not be used.

[edit]

Hi Etacar11, can you give me some information about this painter? At last you made the list of his early works, so somehow you must have some information. There's nothing to be found in Germany. Regards Gerhard51 20:24, 18 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

APL

[edit]

Hi, I reverted APL back to the last Regieal1 edit, and added back in the appropriate content.

I understand why you did what you did, and the comment you left on that user's talk page, but I don't think it is Wikipedia policy that you can only ADD content. If it is, would you please direct me to that?

I worked at APL on NEAR, and I was so disappointed in the APL stub that I wrote to APL outreach and told them their Wikipedia article was crap. The Regieal1 content is OK, for now, and is definitely better than just the four mission links I put on their page. RobTalk 03:24, 14 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • I understand and what you did is fine. I wasn't really quoting a policy, I just hate it when a new person comes in and adds a big load of stuff, basically making a good stub into a long dead end article. I was hoping the person would come back and play around with and fix it. But another thing was that I was worried it was a copyvio (as often is the case when someone suddenly adds a huge amount of text), although I couldn't find a source online. Anyway, no worries! (And I did some work on NEAR at APL and GSFC too!) --Etacar11 03:30, 14 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Haystacks (Monet)

[edit]

I am just starting a new page. You seem to be knowledgeable on art of the late 19th century. You are welcome to make any revisions on my Haystacks (Monet) page. I have a long way to go. I was wondering if there is a category for Series Paintings. This is my second Series (Campbell's Soup Cans). I am also wondering if the term series is a serious enough art term to deserve mention on the Series dab page. I am an art hack who has never studied formally. I have never painted. I attend about 3-5 exhibits a year though.

Hi Etacar11,

I have tried to have the article deleted as it is breach of copyright laws, but Wikipedia haven't done anything about it. I am now contacting my lawyer about the person who wrote the article and if you notice what he wrote originally was copied entirely from our own article. Hopefully the article should be deleted from Wikipedia as no relevant information can be found as the whole thing was made up and is only a figment of the writers mind. I didn't mean to upset anyone from Wikipedia I am just trying to protect my own breed.

Thanks but it seems to of gone already!!

  • I'm sorry, but you've lost me. What's gone? The article? It is still there, as far as I can tell... The copyright violating text? If so, then why do you keep going on about it? And this is all very strange since YOU are the one who started the article in the first place... (btw, you sign by using ~~~~) --Etacar11 15:00, 14 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I wasn't going on about it I was saying thank you! I didn't start the article maybe we have crossed wires I am talking about the Tamaskan Wolfdog article which has now been deleted and the page redirected instead. 80.223.126.199 17:22, 14 November 2006 (UTC)blufawn80.223.126.199 17:22, 14 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Etacar11. Your thoughts on these edits would be appreciated [2] I've reverted a few already, with rationale on my talk page. It looks like the intent, more than anything else, is to promote a web site. Thanks, JNW 00:59, 24 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • I agree, definitely commercial promotion, with dubious value coming from having the links in the article. And it's hard to believe the editor adding them isn't somehow connected to the gallery. Maybe they are, maybe they aren't, but adding the links to so many different articles makes you wonder. --Etacar11 02:25, 24 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Volunteer opportunity in Bethesda, Thursday, July 16

[edit]

The Wikimedia Foundation will be conducting an all-day Academy at the National Institutes of Health, in Bethesda, Maryland, on Thursday, July 16. The team that will be teaching at the Academy, a mix of paid staff and volunteers, is looking for four more volunteers to be teaching assistants, providing one-to-one assistance in workshops whenever a workshop participant has a problem following the instructional directions. (We currently have two editors signed up as teaching assistants, and are looking for a total of six.)

The NIH editing workshops are only for two hours, but volunteers are asked to meet the Wikimedia Foundation team at the hotel in Bethesda at about 7:15 a.m. (time to be finalized shortly) and to stay for the entire day, which ends at 4:30 p.m. Lunch will be provided. (The full schedule can be found here.)

The team is not necessarily looking for expert editors (though they are welcome), just people who can help novices who might get stuck when trying to do some basic things. If you've been an editor for at least 3 months, and have done at least 500 edits, you probably qualify.

If you're interested, please send John Broughton an email. If you might be interested, but would like further information, please post a note on his user talk page, so that he can respond there, and others can see what was asked.

Fair use rationale for File:Integral artist illust.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Integral artist illust.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Nomination of Paul Palmer (author) for deletion

[edit]

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Paul Palmer (author) is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Paul Palmer (author) until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion template from the top of the article. Pburka (talk) 11:34, 4 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Paul Palmer (author) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person, organization (band, club, company, etc.) or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Tokyogirl79 (talk) 09:01, 18 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
