Basketball articles - Use of flag icons and other tips

[edit]

Hello - I have noticed that you have been creating many basketball articles lately. First, thank you for doing so. Second, I have noticed that you have added flag icons throughout these articles - please do not do so. The format convention is NOT to use these except in cases where the player was actually representing his country (example - medal tables for Olympics and other international competitions). I have also noticed a few other things that I wanted to make you aware of:

Please reach out to me iff you have questions. Existing articles can serve as a guide. Also, if you have not done so, I would encourage you to join WikiProject Basketball and help improve coverage of basketball across English Wikipedia. Thanks! Rikster2 (talk) 17:15, 14 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

SPM Shoeters Den Bosch players

[edit]

Just wondering, do you have a list of everyone's who's played for them? I see you added the category to the Sam Vincent article. Do you know when he played for that team? Thanks. Zagalejo^^^ 01:23, 28 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

OK, thanks for the reply. Vincent was a coach for that team, but I can't find anything that says he played for them. Zagalejo^^^ 00:05, 29 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
That's a mistake by me. --Harryhurry (talk) 09:43, 29 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Year of birth

[edit]

What was Matt Bauscher's birth year ? According to lede it is 1984 and according to cat 1985. Cheers. Nedim Ardoğa (talk) 14:22, 21 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Joe Spinks

[edit]

Would you be interested in creating Joe Spinks soon? I noticed that he was a two-time DBL MVP (2000, 2003). I'm trying to finish off all of the red-linked players who appear on Big South Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Year and Spinks fills out the 1993–94 season. Thoughts? Jrcla2 (talk) 19:26, 25 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for making this! Jrcla2 (talk) 17:52, 27 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Patrick Richard

[edit]

Hello Harryhurry - I am not sure if your goal is to create articles for all DBL players, but one who is of particular interest to Wikiproject College basketball (WP:CBB) is Patrick Richard of Matrixx Magixx. He was the 2012 Southland Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Year and there is an effort underway at WP:CBB to finish all of these articles. If you are looking for a "next subject" and care to take this on it would be appreciated. Thank you for your work. Rikster2 (talk) 12:44, 15 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Module:Basketball color/data/sandbox

[edit]

I created Module:Basketball color/data/sandbox for you. please use this instead of the main data module when trying out new colors to make sure there are no errors. I put your proposed changes in this sandbox so you can see exactly where there were errors. Frietjes (talk) 18:29, 24 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I solved the problem but can't edit the normal module anymore, can you put the colors into the Module:basketball color? --Harryhurry (talk) 10:43, 25 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

About the licences in the Belgian Basketball League

[edit]

How do they work? I think it could be interesting to add its working in the main Belgian Basketball League article. Greetings. Asturkian (talk) 21:14, 16 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

A-linceces: more than 1 million €, can qualify for European competitions. B-licences: at least 750,000€ and can not qualify for European competitons. C-license: 400,00€ and can't qualify for European competition, only for two seasons. I found this here [1] and [2]. Greetings --H-Hurry (talk) 11:32, 17 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, H-Hurry. I see you have uploaded a new version of this logo (with so much better resolution) but in other file. For other time, it could be better to upload it in the same file for having all the versions in the same page. BTW, wow, you are doing a great job by creating season pages!

Turkish President's Cup

[edit]

Hi there. I just wanted to ask why the Turkish Basketball President's Cup article was moved. Any specific reason? Regards Akocsg (talk) 01:44, 5 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, the page is moved to Turkish Basketball Presidential Cup. Presidential Cup is the correct translation of Cumhurbaşkanlığı Kupası, the same is used in the Turkish Super Cup article. --H-Hurry (talk) 11:08, 5 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

We noticed though that when you edited 2017–18 VTB United League, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Peak (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Hey - I am assuming these are all usable and not copyrighted. If you replace a picture of a player from an old team, don't just delete the old. See if you can add it to the relevant section of the article. With Joe Harris, his picture from college is relevant for the college section, for Jordan Hamilton his Rockets picture is relevant to the NBA section, etc. Rikster2 (talk) 19:03, 9 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, H. I write you due to a problem I see in this template. As you can see, e.g., in the 2017 EuroCup Finals, the infobox shows that team 1 played games 1 and 2 and home when they really played only games 1 and 3. I can't find how to solve this problem in the template. Can you? Thank you; greetings. Asturkian (talk) 07:32, 30 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Swiss basketball cups

[edit]

Hi again, H-Hurry. I write you as I saw you created the 2017–18 SBL Cup. Please, be careful because at Switzerland there are two cup competitions as in other countries like Portugal or France. The article you created is for the SBL Cup (the "Leaders Cup" or "League Cup"), but there is other competition known as Swiss Cup, completely different but I don't know its format. I give you some links:

I think you must change the content of the SBL Cup and separate it from the old Swiss Men's Cup article. Greetings! Asturkian (talk) 12:24, 30 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I see, you are right. I split up the two articles, let me know if anything is missing or not correct.--H-Hurry (talk) 12:48, 30 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

EuroLeague stats

[edit]

I know the EuroLeague website is a bit confusing. But for the season league leaders of EuroLeague, they are listed under these selection criteria:

  • Mode - Leaders-Players
  • Seasons - Single Season
  • Season - whatever season you want
  • Phase - all phases
  • Category - whatever category you want
  • Number - Average
  • Other - All Games

I hope that helps.Bluesangrel (talk) 00:45, 19 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. RonBot (talk) 18:05, 21 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
