Iowa - largest metro area

[edit]

Hi Helloimahumanbeing,

You have been undoing edits I've made to the Iowa page regarding Iowa's largest metro. Can you please explain your reasoning/logic? What is your source?

Des Moines may be the largest city in the state of Iowa, but Omaha's metropolitan area, which includes three southwest Iowa counties, is larger than that of Des Moines. This is objective, not subjective.

Kansas is an example of the same circumstances, where Wichita is the largest city in the state, but the Kansas City, MO metropolitan area is the largest metropolitan area in Kansas. This is a common occurrence in the United States, where many large metropolitan areas have developed along major rivers that also serve as state boundaries. Singling out the situation in Iowa seems arbitrary. State articles need to be consistent on this issue, and the largest metropolitan area of a state is the largest metropolitan area that incorporates part of that state, as defined by the United States Office of Management and Budget.

I have a feeling you're undoing these edits out of a Des Moines vs. Omaha rivalry, not based on objective facts.

Thank you, André Le Nôtre (talk) 21:47, 30 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@André Le Nôtre: Ok, so it's not about a rivalry, I'm not from Des Moines, or Omaha, or any where between. Secondly, to quote A2soup "I think there is a fundamental difference between the way you think about this and the way most people do. You interpret "largest metro area in the state" to mean "largest metro area that has any part of it in the state", whereas most people think "metro area with the largest in-state population". In your example of Wisconsin, you want to list a metro area with only 125,000 Wisconsinites (Twin Cities) as the largest Wisconsin metro area over a metro area with 1.5 million Wisconsinites (Milwaukee)! While your definition is a valid interpretation of the words "largest metro area in the state", I think that it is both out of line with how reliable sources generally report this statistic and likely to confuse readers.", you could mention that they are the largest metro with an instate population. However, if you do this, I would put this on every other state page. Maybe start another discussion on the talk page. Helloimahumanbeing (talk) 01:30, 31 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Please remember that {{stub}} must go right at the end, after categories etc - see WP:ORDER. It makes it much easier for stub-sorters if they can find it in the right place. Thanks. PamD 19:11, 12 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Veerse Gatdam moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Veerse Gatdam, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. 2019 US Banknote Contest

[edit]
US Banknote Contest
November-December 2019

There are an estimated 30,000 different varieties of United States banknotes, yet only a fraction of these are represented on Wikimedia Commons in the form of 2D scans. Additionally, Colonial America, the Confederate States, the Republic of Texas, multiple states and territories, communities, and private companies have issued banknotes that are in the public domain today but are absent from Commons.

In the months of November and December, WikiProject Numismatics will be running a cross-wiki upload-a-thon, the 2019 US Banknote Contest. The goal of the contest is to increase the number of US banknote images available to content creators on all Wikimedia projects. Participants will claim points for uploading and importing 2D scans of US banknotes, and at the end of the contest all will receive awards. Whether you want to claim the Gold Wiki or you just want to have fun, all are invited to participate.

If you do not want to receive invitations to future US Banknote Contests, follow the instructions here

2019 Year of Protests

[edit]

Hi there Helloimahumanbeing, Foxterria here. Could you explain why you added the original research tab on the page? You couldn't have watched a 25 minute video and read an article by the BBC within 2 minutes of the articles uploading (That's if you have a problem with sourcing). Thanks. Foxterria (talk) 18:51, 21 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Foxterria: I will admit that when I added the original research tag I didn't read the articles, and I haven't watched the video. But the term wasn't used in the article, and if it is used in the video it doesn't mean that it deserves a Wikipedia article. Helloimahumanbeing (talk) 18:48, 22 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Helloimahumanbeing: Hi again - that's fair enough. I've made another article which is more sourced and accurate for what's currently occurring across the world. It's quite obvious that some form of political notion is now occurring in this new upheaval of world politics, and I just want to get a page created so that we can work on it. I've named it the 2019 Autumn of Protests, though it has various other nicknames from the BBC and other networks.

Thanks Foxterria (talk) 16:43, 26 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

ITN recognition for 2019 Samoa measles outbreak

Hi @Helloimahumanbeing:, could you please finish reviewing the Clinton Railroad Bridge article and see if anymore changes need to be done? The only part that hasn’t been reviewed yet is this part: “All in-line citations are from reliable sources, including those for direct quotations, statistics, published opinion, counter-intuitive or controversial statements that are challenged or likely to be challenged, and contentious material relating to living persons—science-based articles should follow the scientific citation guidelines”. If you do have time could you review it (as well as anything else that should be reviewed)? WikiHelper26 (talk) 07:09, 25 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Amsterdam Sloterdijk station, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Sloterdijk (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)
