Cobra

[edit]

I have done a lot of copyediting on the cobra page but it still needs more. I think that some of the japanese names that you write down are registering as misspells.

anyway... great job! --Fiddlekid (talk) 22:36, 18 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

About that "List of Weekly Shonen Jump"...

[edit]

I mentioned this in discussion and think I wanted to ask personally since we're the only two on that page: do you really think we need to list every Jump series in existence? Looking over that Japanese list, I've come to the conclusion that outside series that ran a year or longer or may be well known due to either the author (like Zombiepowder to Kubo or Cowa to Toriyama) or somehow broke their way into the US (don't ask me how a short series like Bomber Girl got here) should be on the list. There are a ton of series that went nowhere even early on and to list them could end up as tedious. But I want to ask your opinion before I start making some adjustments to the page. -StrangerAtaru 22:22, 9 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • I`d say the only series that can go on the list is manga in Jump that has been over two years. Or if the manga is well known by the manga-ka just like you said. But if we list all of them that could get way to out of hand. Jump Guru 17:08, 16 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Super Jump (magazine)

[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Super Jump (magazine), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice explains why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you endorse deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}} to the top of the page. Comic Champ

[edit]

I think we need to break Comic Champ off. Its a Korean magazine that has Jump and other stuff in it and if its a series then maybe it just needs its own section. -StrangerAtaru (talk) 16:43, 17 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Tottemo! Luckyman

[edit]

Why did you create a Luckyman page with little to no information on it? If you needed help you could have asked but all you did was say that it was created by "some guy who isn't Takeshi Obata" and made a one liner that will be deleted. Little is actually known of Luckyman in this country and you probably could have asked for help to make a Wiki for it. (BTW: Hiroshi Gamou is the Luckyman mangaka) -StrangerAtaru (talk) 03:15, 26 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think I created a monster

[edit]

Last week, I suggested creating a list for the manga of "Weekly Shonen Sunday" to that Wiki page. Sort of initially thought that they were going to be like us: essential series one year or longer. But somehow the page has got ours beat: not only are they listing all the mangaka (which I started doing at the suggestion of the WSS writer) but also listing a ton of other series, many tied to certain authors. I'm starting to debate if we should follow suit but I keep thinking that it would just end up leading to garbage. Just bringing it up to you in case want to discuss it. (please respond back on my personal talk page, not yours) -StrangerAtaru (talk) 00:23, 18 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • Somehow when I talked with Harleyacres, he said that without listing the mangaka, you don't have a train of reference, particularly for many of the more unknown series where neither mangaka or manga have articles in the article. I still think that its going to end up biting us but I decided to take his advice and add the mangaka to the page. I still think that mangawise we should just stick with the standard but I just don't know anymore with the Sunday master list just with so many more series including many really shorter ones that only lasted about a year. -StrangerAtaru (talk) 01:50, 18 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yoichi Takahashi

[edit]

I do not understand what you're saying because your Japanese is too poor. There's no need to use mechanical translation. I can understand English.--Robeto Hongo (talk) 02:04, 27 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm afraid I don't even know whether Yoichi has his website or not. I don't think he does. But there exist several websites on Captain Tsubasa. See Captain Tsubasa#External links.--Robeto Hongo (talk) 18:47, 27 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Shaman King

[edit]

I didn't go to Jump Festa and I can't speak Japanese, but I heard that Shaman King was going to be completed in Jump SQ. Do you know if this is true? (If you don't feel like finding this out, you don't have to.) Yanra36 (talk) 15:26, 28 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ataru Meaning

[edit]

Basically the "Ataru" in my name is a reference to Ataru Moroboshi, the lead male character in the anime Urusei Yatsura. Basically its an exclamation that stands for "Watch Out!". -StrangerAtaru (talk) 00:26, 29 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

AfD nomination of World 4u

[edit]

I have nominated World 4u, an article you created, for deletion. I do not feel that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/World 4u. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. Mr Senseless (talk) 23:57, 20 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Notability of World 4u

[edit]

A tag has been placed on World 4u requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Basketball110 :) 23:57, 20 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:DrawingSmall.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 22:47, 16 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

AfD nomination of List of U.S. Shonen Jump issues

[edit]

An editor has nominated List of U.S. Shonen Jump issues, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of U.S. Shonen Jump issues and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 01:59, 24 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Which issues of US Shonen Jump do you own? I've suggested in the AFD that the article be merged to a reference list for the use of WP:ANIME. How that works is that people without the magazine ask you to look up in your magazine stuff they want to know about. -Malkinann (talk) 22:14, 24 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I have every issue from 2006 up. – 「JUMPGURU」@Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia 16:38, 1 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Would you be willing to use your collection to assist the anime project in the manner I've described? Please respond on the deletion discussion page - the current thinking is that if no-one is, then knowing what's in which issue is of no use to the anime project. -Malkinann (talk) 23:10, 1 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding your reversions to Jump Square

[edit]

Hello. I noticed that you have been contributing a majority of the content to the article Jump Square. This is great! However, on two occasions, you removed content that I had contributed. The first time, you simply wrote "Let's just stay with how it is now". This comment did not explain your reasons for removing content from wikipedia by removing my contributions. After I "partially" restored my contribution, you reverted the page again, this time stating "Find a source, the magazine is Shonen". This comment also did not actually address my contribution as my second contribution made no reference to the magazine being part of a demographic other than shonen.

If you are concerned with the factual accuracy of an editor's contributions, please tag it with a [citation needed] tag or something similar. Generally, on wikipedia, only "harmful" dubious statements, vandalism, or inaccuracies on the biography of a living person are immediately deleted without giving the contributor a chance to address the issue. See WP:EP and WP:PROVEIT for further information. Think of it this way, by the standard you set, most of your contributions to the Jump Square article would be immediately deleted due to lack of citations. Also, your first reversion's comment especially seems contrary to the obligation of all wikipedia editors to allow their work to be edited. See WP:OWN for more details. If you have further issues or questions, message me on my talk page or create a section on Jump Square's discussion page. Thank you.--Finalnight (talk) 04:59, 25 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No problem! Where ever you want to put it is fine by me, I just wanted the content in there as I think that is an important (and good) distinguishing part of the magazine, especially compared to the previous Monthly Shonen. Its more mature and "Surpreme Quality".--Finalnight (talk) 20:48, 25 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Put it up for GA review and I will start the GA process on it.--Finalnight (talk) 23:44, 30 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
To put an article up for GA review, see this page. Unfortunately, you can't rerate an article to GA without a review first. Thats what I meant in my previous comment. You can nominate it, then I will review it for GA status.--Finalnight (talk) 05:58, 1 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Jump talk

[edit]

I want to make a "Ten de Showaru Cupid!" page, but I never got the shipment from Kinokuniya. They claim vol. 2 is out of print and on back order but claim they have vol. 1 in store when I ordered it in December. In other thoughts, I did create a makeshift "Hentai Kamen" page a week or two back after reading chp. 1 (want to read the whole thing) and I may or may not do something similar now that I found a Youtube page with "Stop!! Hibari-Kun!" (which I doubt I'll get around to watching but it is a Jump series) Meanwhile, I see you approve of the '68-'79 template...though I know I don't have every crucial Jump series of the era, I needed something that probably would work with what we've got. I'll make the template official, then and start putting it on the appropriate pages. -StrangerAtaru (talk) 22:28, 11 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • I know we need references, I just get so lazy on Wiki referencing that I just ignore or forget about it. BTW: I started a different (slightly) kind of template for the 80s Jump series...it looks rather big for the moment but I'm mostly doing it by year and starting with the manga we have articles for. If you want, I can put in the other series as placeholders but realize most of them will never probably have an article in the English Wiki. -StrangerAtaru (talk) 22:48, 11 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
    • My thing is what exactly they want for resources. I mean come on: you can't take certain things since they are common knowledge. BTW: anything you want me to add or adjust before I create the template and start putting the 80s list on the webpages? -StrangerAtaru (talk) 22:56, 11 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:V Jump.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:V Jump.jpg. You've indicated that the image meets Wikipedia's criteria for non-free content, but there is no explanation of why it meets those criteria. Your GA nomination of Jump Square

[edit]

The article Jump Square you nominated as a good article has been placed on hold. It hasn't failed because it's basically a good article, but there are some minor changes or clarifications needed to be addressed. If these are fixed within seven days, the article will pass, otherwise it will fail. See Talk:Jump Square for things needed to be addressed. Finalnight (talk) 18:07, 22 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You keep asking me to help with the article, but the rules state a GA reviewer cannot be a major contributor to an article.--Finalnight (talk) 18:11, 23 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
An editor has delisted Jump Square as a GA article in what I view to be an improper fashion and I suggest you take it to Wikipedia:Good article reassessment or abuse reporting.--Finalnight (talk) 01:18, 5 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Additionally, Jump Guru, please be more careful in your work with templates. Your changes to Template:Shueisha were extremely inappropriate. We do not put images in templates, and your changes made it horribly huge and useless. -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 20:20, 11 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yes it is huge, I was going to make a scroller for it. I'm very sorry, I thought it looked alot better, I put hours of work into it. – 「JUMPGURU」@Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia 20:24, 11 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I've nominated it for deletion as well. Shueisha's list of publications is just too large to be done as a template. The category is a better method for linking its works. -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 20:27, 11 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I actually used this template as a base: Template:Jmyth navbox long. – 「JUMPGURU」@Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia 21:25, 11 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
That's a rare exception, not the rule (and it doesn't need an image either, but that's anotehr issue). It also is a template for a completely different type of content. It is not appropriate for a company template. -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 21:28, 11 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Being sourced does not mean it belongs. Its unnecessary and excessive detail. Wikipedia is not a magazine catalog, nor a publication history. A list of the main series is appropriate. Lists of one-shots and single previews is not. The article has an excessive glut of unnecessary information. I've now cleaned out most of it. Still needs more work, but the article is now at least at a more manageable size and actually somewhat readable. -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 23:27, 11 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

~ahem~ its considered rude to edit an article while its tagged as inuse by another editor. -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 23:58, 11 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Comic Champ

[edit]

Great! Ironically, I don't know much Korean, even though I'm spearheading the big manhwa cleanup & expansion, LOL. I've been so busy with organizational work, I haven't had much time to actually research or create content yet. I've run across some good stuff in my wanderings thus far, and I'll try to relocate it for you. I'm also going to post about this on the World Comics talk page, so I urge you to put it on your watchlist for a while and chime in. We do have some native speakers involved with the project, but things are just so disjointed right now, and I know one guy is super busy. From what I've been told, comics-related content is not well developed on the Korean Wikipedia yet, so it's not a super great resource. But, check out the talk page and I'll post what I've got ASAP. Thanks for making this effort! :) --hamu♥hamu (TALK) 23:43, 21 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Comic Champ revisited

[edit]

Hey, in between killing myself with other stuff, I've been trying to do a little research here & there on Comic Champ, and I'm starting to wonder about a few things. I've done an enormous amount of searching, and while there are a lot of English sites that say Comic Champ is the Korean version of WSJ, none of them have references and I'd be willing to say they got the info from Wikipedia. The info has been on Wikipedia, in one form or another, since 2006 at least, and some of the related claims have been ludicrous, such as that Daiwon's Issue magazine was the Korean version of Shojo Beat. An editor last summer noted on Daiwon's talk page that most of the info on it was straight-up wrong and asked for help from WP Korea, but nothing ever got done about it. Comic Champ carries mostly domestic titles, actually, with only a few titles from Shonen Jump, and I think it even carries titles from other Japanese publishers, as well. Some Shonen Jump titles are carried by entirely other publishers, too, like Seoul Munhwasa has Bleach). There is no mention of a relationship between the any of Daiwon's magazines and any Shueisha magazines that I can find on the Korean or Japanese wikis. I got sucked into believing it "must" be true because of the redirect you created last fall from Comic Champ to WSJ. So, yeah, let's put our heads together and figure out if we can get a reliable source that CC is a version of SJ. What was your source when you created the redirect? Because I can't find a darn thing, LOL! --hamu♥hamu (TALK) 07:36, 5 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry about that, I'm starting to think the same. Let's just say it isn't, because I made that redirect when I was a amateur. I honestly don't think it is. – J U M P G U R U @Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia 01:51, 6 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

A barnstar for you

[edit]
The Special Barnstar
I'm awarding you this barnstar because of your wonderful enthusiasm for working on anime and magazine articles, which has resulted in some great revitalization of interest in those articles, some great clean up work at Weekly Shōnen Jump, the long overdue creation of Shonen Jump, and the drafting of a new MoS for our magazine articles. I hope you will continue to learn and improve from criticisms and corrections, and not let them discourage you as you continue your journey as a Wikipedian! -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 21:46, 13 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

As I said in the prod, it's basically noteworthy as part of the entire Barefoot Gen story, and belongs (IMHO) as part of that article. The article you posted is mostly an overlong plot summary. --Orange Mike | Talk 18:43, 30 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Seriously. I need cheering up. I've had too many articles put up for deletion, and a barnstar is the only thing that will cheer me up, now.Kitty53 (talk) 04:01, 18 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello?Kitty53 (talk) 04:10, 18 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

*ahem* Kitty, I know you've been told before, multiple times in fact, that it is rude and inappropriate to beg other editors to give you barnstars to "cheer you up." Barnstars are given because people choose to give them, and most because they are earned, not because someone demands one or thinks they need one to feel better about themselves. -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 04:18, 18 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
So you just want a award? Y'know, i've made a huge effort on all the Jump articles, and i've gotten one award, which i'm pretty dang proud about! : ) You, you've gotten over ten awards for your wining in complaining.....that makes me sick. >_< – J U M P G U R U @Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia 05:27, 18 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Merge suggestion of Bakuman chapters

[edit]

Regarding your suggestion, I think it's more convenient to just keep the chapter article separate. Most or all of the manga pages have their own separate chapter articles. There aren't many chapters for this manga now, but in the future there will be. Myominane (talk) 22:50, 30 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I think that's unlikely, and I don't know what happens when a series does get canceled, but I'm guessing we'll merge the chapters with the main article then. Myominane (talk) —Preceding undated comment was added at 04:21, 31 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well, since this is another collaboration between Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata, I don't think it has a high chance of getting pulled. We saw how Death Note did, and well, before Hikaru no Go, Obata didn't really have a hit, but he's been doing good after that. September 2008

[edit]

Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you recently tried to give Talk:Gintama a different title by copying its content and pasting it into another page with a different name. This is known as a "cut and paste move", and it is considered undesirable because it splits the page history which is needed for attribution and various other purposes. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page. This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other articles that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut and paste move repair holding pen. Thank you. Being fair and leaving you both this little note. *gentle bop for that* :) -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 00:25, 24 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

English names

[edit]

In two articles, Karakuridôji Ultimo and Muhyo and Roji's Bureau of Supernatural Investigation, you made edits that removed the English title from the nihongo template, put it in front followed by "is the English title of"[1][2]. I have reverted both of those edits as they were not correct per our guidelines at all. The whole purpose of the Nihongo template is to have English title (kanji title, romanji title) without extraneous text. That its the English title is explicit in it being first. Okay? :) -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 17:32, 10 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. What I was trying to explain on the Muhyo page was that "Rōjī" is a dirivative for Rosie or Rozy. : ) I'll just add a lit. translation. — J U M P G U R U TALK 00:46, 11 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
That isn't really needed though. Right now i'm redoing the Speed Racer article, a IP destroyed it right after I revamped it. : P I've never really talked to you, I know you used several of my userboxes though. : ) — J U M P G U R U TALK 23:59, 19 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I do like those userboxes (^_^) Just looked at the Speed Racer article, and I'd like to say it's awesome. I'm glad you've added more of the original Japanese parts to it. I've always preferred to call Speed Racer, Mach GoGoGo since that's it's original Japanese title. Conanfan1412 (talk) 04:24, 20 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I call it that too. ^_^ However I use Speed Racer to people who only know it by that name. I really wanna get the DMP boxset, but I don't have that kind of money right now. : P Anyway, I just added the Toriko article to my wathlist, too bad Mitsutoshi did what he did (if you get what I mean). : ( I read his manga alot, read his last one which was formerly in Weekly Jump but got cancelled, and then moved to Super Jump. I get both magazine so I read the whole series. :D — J U M P G U R U TALK 15:43, 20 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I think Mitsutoshi has a really good imagination and great artwork, but I don't agree with what he did. I only have respect for him because of his manga, not because of him himself. Conanfan1412 (talk) 23:16, 20 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yes he has a great imagination. Who would have though of making a manga about finding the ultimate food ingrediants. There's only manga about making bread! Toriko makes me feel really hungry. : P I will be finding sources for Toriko. — J U M P G U R U TALK 01:13, 21 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

How is "haitus" an On Kanji? Do you mean "hiatus", or "haitsu"? Moocowsrule (talk) 06:30, 6 November 2008 (UTC)moocowsrule[reply]

LOL. I just haven't been doing that for a while so it's "On hiatus". : ) Now that you mention it I'll be starting it again. — J U M P G U R U ask㋐㋜㋗ 21:34, 6 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well then why does it say "On hiatus"? I tried fixing it for you, but I didn't find the text "On hiatus"... of course it's probably some fancy code... which I don't know... T~T わwaらraうu Smile! 04:12, 20 November 2008 (UTC)moocowsrule[reply]

Wikia and vandalism

[edit]

1. Remember that the Wikia is controlled by the Wikimedia Foundation, so it should be okay to link to the Wikias (OTHER Wikis, not in most cases) 2. Please do not refer to disputes over ELs as vandalism - See Wikipedia:Vandalism WhisperToMe (talk) 00:22, 7 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The wikia page was a direct copy of the Gantz Wikipedia page and had a whole ton of red links + it is created by a fan. Why shouldn't I delete it? Who cares if it was controlled by the Wikimedia Foundation? That's like if I put a bootlegged Chinese copy of Dragon Ball into my all-official manga collection. — J U M P G U R U ask㋐㋜㋗ 00:44, 7 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
It is not always okay to link to other wikias. Wikia is considered separate from Wikimedia, and, are not automatically granted some magic reprieve from being evaluated the against the WP:EL guidelines. As it is, most Wikia sites completely fail those guidelines, particularly the series fan wikias. Anyone can create a wikia, they are self-published, and most are controlled by only a handful of fans who do NOT make any effort to follow copyright guidelines or the like. Only a select few Wikia currently meet the external linking guidelines. The removal of the link to Gantz was correct and fully within Wikipedia editing guidelines. No comment on it being called vandalism. -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 01:17, 7 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I continued the discussion here Wikipedia_talk:External_links#When_is_linking_to_a_Wikia_acceptable.3F to see if I could get more feedback. I may also link to it from the Anime wikiproject talk page. WhisperToMe (talk) 08:59, 7 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Did you just link to blogspot too? >_O — J U M P G U R U ask㋐㋜㋗ 16:41, 7 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Rather than just send this template to TfD, I'm going to ask you to please self delete this template. It is completely inappropriate for your attempted usage, violating infobox usage guidelines and all relevant Manuals of Style. I can almost guarantee it will receive no support from the the Anime and manga project for use in any article. The infobox is not for declaring other language titles, nor, are they particularly relevant nor notable. If sourceable, and the titles were in English, it should be noted in prose only, and normally, not with any sort of template like this.-- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 18:31, 10 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm truly sorry. I tagged it with a TfD. It will be tagged until I can change it to something that can actually be usefull in an article. Does that sound good? — J U M P G U R U ask㋐㋜㋗ 18:43, 10 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, since you are its creator, a CSD would be more appropriate. And thanks :) -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 18:48, 10 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Stan Lee template

[edit]

It is honestly my belief, and probably that of many others, that this template covers too broad a topic to justify its existence. Lee dabbled in and created many titles, and he cannot have a template just as other prolific comic book creators could. Linking Stan in each template for his creations has worked fine so far, without clouding the bottom of the page with links to more distantly related subjects. I advise you take this up with the Comics Project. Lee is the man, but Kirby is the king and you could justify him having a template based on the same logic. Alientraveller (talk) 21:33, 20 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

LOL. Yes. You'd think i'd know after the several million times you said that it's too broad of a template in your edit summary. Kirby? Is that the real problem? Sure, i'll make a template for him. I'll start a talk with the comics project. — J U M P G U R U ask㋐㋜㋗ 23:11, 20 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Omoshiro Book.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Omoshiro Book.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Speedy deletion of Marc Weidenbaum

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Marc Weidenbaum requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 02:32, 10 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well now that you cut off half the article I guess there's no use for it now. : ( – J U M P G U R U ask㋐㋜㋗ 02:39, 10 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The part I removed had nothing to do with a person's biography, it was more a "celebrity sighting" kind of thing. See WP:BIO for the notability requirements for people, which are pretty tough. I had considered doing an article on him as part of the Viz Magazine stuff, but didn't find that he could meet the notability requirements, nor that any kind of real biography could ever be written for him. -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 02:42, 10 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, is that what you erased? Well that makes sense then. : ) – J U M P G U R U ask㋐㋜㋗ 02:51, 10 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

AfD nomination of Marc Weidenbaum

[edit]

I have nominated Marc Weidenbaum, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Marc Weidenbaum. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 14:24, 10 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Mostly Naruto (the Shadow Box, a few loose ones), FMA (Like 5), Bleach (like 1 D:) and like a crapload of SJ. I was gonna buy some Japanese ones in Anchorage and Seattle but I decided not to waste my money (I couldn't understand ANY Japanese then). ムーカオズルール(Talk to Moo) 19:39, 23 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm pretty sure Animage is Japanese, isn't it? In any case, just make a new section if necessary, copying and modifying the layout from one of the original sections (or in the case of Shonen Jump, just add a row with your name and issues (haha) underneath mine). —Dinoguy1000 18:39, 26 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Spam in S-Manga.Net

[edit]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on S-Manga.Net, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because S-Manga.Net is blatant advertising for a company, product, group, service or person that would require a substantial rewrite in order to become an encyclopedia article.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting S-Manga.Net, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. Comments on your wiki-demeanour

[edit]

Hi Jump Guru, I'm not particularly impressed with your attitude here and I've also mentioned it at SandyGeorgia's talk page, since it relates to her theme of giving primacy to the "encyclopedic" contributors here on the wiki. Basically, I don't think that achieving GA status gives you a platform to berate other editors. Your comments are of course welcome. Franamax (talk) 05:31, 1 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Interestingly, I had just read this same discussion coming from a different page, and have to tell you, Jump Guru, that I was extraordinarily disappointed at the belittling way in which you treated other editors. Further, I do not believe that Jimmy Wales ever said that any article with fewer than ten references should be "brutally deleted"; please give a reference when you are attributing such a statement to a person. I hope you will reconsider the manner in which you comport yourself. Risker (talk) 06:35, 1 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I must echo what Franamax and Risker have said. Jayjg (talk) 06:44, 1 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry Jump, but I have to agree here. That was really uncalled for and out of line. -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 07:02, 1 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I have just read through the thread which I read without any prompting from anyone. I have to say that I'm in agreement with the other comments here: a very disappointing tone to your messages. It would be good if you felt you should make a statement of apology about it, thus reaffirming your commitment to the principles of WP:AGF and WP:No personal attacks.  DDStretch  (talk) 07:48, 1 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'm so deeply sorry. – J U M P G U R U ask㋐㋜㋗ 18:19, 1 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

No, Jump Guru, you aren't blocked, and I am relieved to see that you've taken these concerns to heart. An apology in the thread, and to the editor who was on the receiving end, would not be out of place here, however. It's a new year, and a good time to start off with a clean slate and perhaps a different perspective. Risker (talk) 18:31, 1 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I am sorry, but I have no idea what your problem is. There is nothing in WP:MOS that forbids having all the plot information under a single heading. What are you talking about, and why can't we just do it that way? Not to mention that you're merely citing a guideline, not policy. I usually wouldn't get so uppity about it, but when I'm told I can't do something for a reason that makes zero sense, then I tend to get a little defensive.-- 03:23, 13 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Like I said: It also doesn't say not to vandalise pages, but we sure don't do that. – J U M P G U R U ask㋐㋜㋗ 17:12, 13 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
That is not a valid argument and you know it. I was not vandalizing, nor was I making unconstructive edits. I was merely formatting the article into a more logical construction, but I see you and logic just don't mix.-- 06:00, 14 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not saying you're vandalising the page, i'm saying that the page can't list EVERYTHING, it ony lists the IMPORTANT stuff. Did you expect it to say, "Oh yeah, you also can't put everything under one section entitled "Characters" which only one user does". That's what I mean't by saying, "It also doesn't say not to vandalise pages, but we sure don't do that". I'm not calling you a vandal. : P In the bible it doesn't say that we can't smoke weed. – J U M P G U R U ask㋐㋜㋗ 17:26, 14 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Again, your arguments are not valid. We have featured articles that put all the plot info under a single section because the subsections all have to do with the plot. Why else do we put all the media/adaptations under a single header? Don't be all "oh, Juhachi's the only one who does this so he must be wrong", because I've seen this technique used all over Wikipedia, and I was merely doing what I thought right.-- 09:56, 16 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Hayate X Blade. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions on a single page within a 24 hour period. Additionally, users who perform a large number of reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring, even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing. Please do not repeatedly revert edits, but use the talk page to work towards wording and content that gains a consensus among editors. If necessary, pursue dispute resolution. Let's remember WP:BRD. Bold formatting change made that doesn't meet guidelines, so please discuss instead of edit warring. Ask for additional input from the project if more opinions are needed. Note, I'm warning BOTH editors here with 3 reverts for Juhachi, 4 Jump Guru, no warnings left so no actual report will be filed at at this time. -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 17:28, 13 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Suntory

[edit]

The Suntory Museum only housed them for a short period of time. Works of art move around. A lot. That's what they do. The places that are listed at present are the *permanent homes* of the artwork, in addition to the most famous replica, which is housed at the temple that actually *owns* the artwork. Bueller 007 (talk) 20:17, 15 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

If you are capable of reading Japanese, then go ahead and check them out. Of course, I assume that anyone who knows Japanese would know exactly what dictionaries I'm talking about.
Encyclopedia Nipponica - *****筆者は鳥羽僧正覚猷(1053—1140)と伝称されるが確証はなく*****、また四巻はそれぞれ制作時期と筆を異にしている。
I have computerized editions, so I can't give you page numbers, ISSNs, etc. The *exact* article names are 鳥獣人物戯画 for Kojien, 鳥獣戯画 for Daijirin and 鳥獣人物戯画 for EN. Yahoo does not specify which version of EN they are using, although I assume that if it is not custom-made, it is based on the 2nd print edition. Article merging

[edit]

Since you suggested that I Love Katamari and Katamari Damacy Mobile should be merged, could you put your rationale/input at the I Love Katamari talk page located here? Thanks. Brianreading (talk) 04:15, 16 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Individuals at Baba (honorific)

[edit]

I think we can safely remove that horrid list. Only User:Bkonrad felt that it should be kept whilst three people were pretty much okay without it. Thoughts? Please reply below, Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 18:30, 30 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Someone else just added their support. Are you still a part of this? Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 01:34, 12 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Re:

The online/offline thing is this : {{User status | status = offline | user = | reason = | position = | float = | bt = | br = | bb = | bl = | useimage = | images = }}

Edit "offline" to say "online" when you are online, and vice versa.

The text and picture you see is an editnotice - it is a page that you write and it shows up over the editing box while editing. To make one for your user page, you would do it as User:Jump Guru/Editnotice, and User talk:Jump Guru/Editnotice. Hope this answers your questions, and happy editing.
