Hi I noticed you edited Fred Pagnams England statistics. I'm his grandson and can't find any other reference to him playing for England although gran said he did. Please could you tell me the source of your information. Thanks [email protected] — Preceding unsigned comment added by 193.164.119.188 (talk) 23:32, 14 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! We are a group of editors working to improve the quality of France related articles. You look like someone who might be interested in joining us in the France WikiProject and so I thought I'd drop you a line and invite you! We'd love to have you in our project :-) STTW (talk) 17:45, 9 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Context

[edit]

I know it is a bit late to ask you, but could you please have a bit of humility and realise that: more countries than France have Division 1s and more sports than soccer have Division 1s. May I suggest a generic title of "French soccer Division 1 ..."? -- RHaworth 16:03, 7 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Barnstar

[edit]
I hereby award this French Barnstar of National Merit to Latouffedisco for creating and contributing significantly to WP:FR related articles. Happy editing, STTW (talk) 17:16, 27 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Latouffedisco. I only now discovered your work concerning the Red and White of Reims. And I'm glad to see that you gained a lot from my articles in German WP (where I work, as well as in French WP, under the name Wahrerwattwurm) on Stade's players for your English articles. So if it doesn't ask too much of you, would you be so kind in the future as to add the Interwiki links on your English in the German version of player's articles? Up to now, I executed that for you. Sincerely – and Allez, Reims! ;-) --85.177.65.28 13:42, 1 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Salut.

Vecchi, Paris 2006
  • Nathalie Milion: Piantoni – Roger-la-Classe.

A+ de --85.177.71.141 21:54, 1 May 2007 (UTC) (Wahrerwattwurm)[reply]

Salut, Latouffedisco. I just want to inform you, that Snella did not play für ASSE without interruption: early in June 1940 he was captured by German soldiers near Évreux and disappeared in a POW camp. It was only in 1942 that he managed to escape from there. A+ de --85.177.71.166 12:59, 3 June 2007 (UTC) (i.e. Wahrerwattwurm)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image (Image:Logo PSG 1970.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Logo PSG 1970.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 02:45, 21 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:RC_France.gif

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:RC_France.gif. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. BigrTex 18:19, 24 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

French football

[edit]

Hello and thank you for your work on French footballers and related articles. I noticed there are articles about seasons of Ligue 1, they are nice, however they are badly named. Term "soccer" should be used only when referring to countries which use that form. France use classic "football" form. Therefore e.g. "French soccer Division 1 1979/1980" should be moved to "French football Division 1 1979/1980" and the others, too. Could you please move them, as you are their creator? Sandbox

[edit]

Hi! Are you currently working on this? I can help! Let me know. --necronudist 14:37, 20 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well, unfortunately I don't speak French (but I can easily understand a normal website) and I've got nothing regarding Ligue 1. However, I think your sources are a little weak, it would be VERY hard (impossible?) to find out every foreign player. When I did the Serie A, La Liga and Premier League ones I always found first good sources, and then begin the work. I've already searched for sources but it's really hard to find some. By now, I think it's impossible to complete the list. Maybe you should try to involve the French wiki. --necronudist 18:51, 20 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Sure I will help. I've got sources for the last ten years too, but the problem is that by now we have 70 years uncovered... 1/7 is a too little proportion to begin something. First of all, you speak (are?) French so try to involve French wiki, then we'll se what we've got and then we'll begin working, but we must be sure to cover at least 80% of the seasons before starting. This is the difference between an incomplete list and a useless list. By the way, here's a couple of interesting links I found:
Only clubs pages unfortunately. --necronudist 12:05, 21 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It would be great! Let me know what he says. --necronudist 12:53, 21 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

We really need that book. A list must be done from head to tail, not "a little bit here, a little bit there", or you'll have a list incomplete forever. However, I don't know if it's a good idea to buy a book and pay something like 30€ to do a list on wikipedia... Think about it. --necronudist 16:53, 21 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I agree. However, I keep thinking that the sources aren't enough. For me, it is impossible to contribute. I live only to do these lists :( eheh. --necronudist 17:06, 21 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Great! So, I think we'd better wait 'till he finishes and then wikify and check. Now, do you prefer to work separately from me and then compare our two versions, or work together? (Please note that you will upload the work finished, so independently from the method you will be the official creator, it happened that someone in the italian wiki stole my work publishing it before I could and that's not fair). --necronudist 18:29, 21 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, tell me only if we're going to begin from the 1996-97 season or the 1997-98. I'll star working in the next few days. P.S.: I think it's better than none of us touch the Clio's list, so it will remain as a reference if we're in trouble with some wrong edits. --necronudist 18:56, 21 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I tried to work on your list but it's very hard for me, plus I'm afraid of edit conflicts (e.g. I'm editing - you're editing - you save - I save -> I have to cancel my edits 'cause you saved a new version before), so I'm gonna work on it on one of my sandboxes. It will take more time, but it will be more accurate and avoid conflicts. --necronudist 08:52, 22 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks a lot, but I'm trying a different approach: a simple google query. Using different methods should make the list more complete... Good. --necronudist 09:26, 22 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hi! Unfortunately I was forced to work on other projects, but as soon as I can I will check your list and try to improve it. Now you'd better try to complete the list with the pre-1997 additions! --necronudist 09:21, 4 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'd like to help more! But I've found a job and I'm working on other projects...You're doing a great job! Keep this way! I'll be happy to help when possible! --necronudist (talk) 09:59, 23 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

As tu pensé à RSSSF? A+ Clio64 21 août 2007 à 17:40 (CEST)
Hi, I just had a look at your sandbox list and it seems to me that you already have included nearly all of the information I dug up for Clio64's user page. As Clio64 mentioned recently on his discussion page that he will be back to work on Wikipedia in January I would want to avoid double work and possible differences by adding stuff to two separate lists. Especially player's names that I came up with that are missing in Barreaud's book would have to be confirmed from the French side as well, because there is a chance that Austrian newspapers reported that a player went to France but he actually never made the first team (Eduard Scheer who went to Roubaix in early 1938 might be such a case, he came from second league club Helfort to France and in March 1938 a Vienna newspaper reported that due to an injury he hadn't played for his new club yet) and therefore doesn't belong on the list of foreign D1 players. Clio64's user page includes all players from Barreaud's book from the the 1930s period, so if you have copied them to your list, than we are at the same level, which means some of the names have yet to be verified (according to Clio64's count about 50%) and some names missing might have to be added. As I have access mostly to Austrian sources, my contributions primarily are related to Austrian players and to a lesser extent Hungarian and Czechoslovakian players. So please let me know how I can help you with your project. --Karloff lugosi (en) (talk) 13:31, 9 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have nominated Yvon Pouliquen, an article you created, for deletion. Roger van Gool

[edit]

Hi there. I have changed the way your redirects work on your newly created article on Roger van Gool. The van in the name is in lower case, not upper case, as is normal for the language, and supported in the references. As a result I have fixed the way round the pages are with Roger Van Gool redirecting to Roger van Gool as the correct spelling and casing. Ben W Bell talk 16:14, 14 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I added a few bits and pieces, including a photo, (images become public domain in Argentina after 25 years). Unfortunately statistics for historical players in Argentina are extremely hard to come across, it seems a great deal of information has been lost, and what remains is kept on subscription websites. You can keep me informed if you make or find any other Argentine player articles if you think they may benefit from my attention. Keep up the good work. Olympic squads

[edit]

Hi Erwan! Many thanks for your question. I saw the changes last night and I was also pondering what to do... First of all I don't think, that we both have made so many mistakes! And in some cases the changes are clearly wrong, e.g. 1992 Ned Zelic (he played his first match for Borussia Dortmund on 29.8.1992 - after the Olympics) or Tony Vidmar (he played for Germinal Ekeren not before 1993). Also in 1988 e.g. John Dolye doesn't have the San Francisco Greek Americans in his list of clubs. The 1980 page needs a lot of work, because there are many wrong link! E.g. Frank Baum and others. Or the position of Calixto Martinez is now given: Defender (football)|GK. So what? Was he a defender or a goalkeeper? Or the "Red Arrows"-links for some players of Zambia. These were the reasons why I tagged this article last night.

I do not think that all changes are wrong (E.g. Oscar Crino in 1988 looks correct) but in general I would prefer to revert the edits of this user, because they are unsourced and anonymous. But then lets check if we can find out some new facts? Let me know if you need some help. Kind regards Doma-w (talk) 20:49, 18 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Many thanks for your long and hard work! Are you on the way to correct the years 1980 and 1988 also? Kind regards Doma-w (talk) 16:44, 19 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Again many thanks that you have checked and updated all the changes! This was again a really great and good work! I am very happy to see that you are also very interested in the squad pages. Kind regards Doma-w (talk) 19:37, 20 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hungarian players in France

[edit]

Salut,

Thanks for your post, and also many thanks for you for starting the János Aknai article!!! Also your article about the foreign players of Ligue 1 is very nice, good luck with it! Also I recommend András Törőcsik to the list, who played for Montpellier HSC in 1985/86.

My resource is Tamás Dénes, Pál Peterdi, Zoltán Rochy and József Selmeci (1999). Kalandozó magyar labdarúgók. ISBN 963-85967-0-9. {{cite book}}: Check |isbn= value: checksum (help)CS1 maint: multiple names: authors list (link), which is a book about Hungarian football players abroad.

So, about your list:

  • József Ébner (1934-35 SO Montpellier, 1938-39: Stade Rennais) (born 1909) - yes, Hungarian!
  • József Gergely (1934-35 FC Sète, 1935-36: Troyes) formerly with Hungária (died 194x)- yes, Hungarian!
  • Béla Havas (Havlik) (1932-33 Nice, 1933: Amiens) Played for Kispest and Csepel - yes, Hungarian!
  • Lorentz (1935-39 Red Star) - No, I could not find him
  • Ferenc Mayer (1932-34 CA Paris, 1936-38 RC Strasbourg) or Ferenc ?[3] [4], goalkeeper - yes, Hungarian!
  • Mayer (1933-34 Lille) - No, I could not find him. Maybe it is the same player with Ferenc Mayer?
  • Albert Nagy (1936-1939 RC Roubaix) - No, I could not find him however I have a János Nagy (1903-1966?), who played for Roubaix between 1936-37.
  • József Nemes (Nehadoma) (1933 and 1936-37 Mulhouse) - yes, Hungarian!
  • Károly Pintér (1936-37 FC Mulhouse) - No, I could not find him, however it is clearly a Hungarian name! Did he play in any other countries, or do you know more about him? I could look after him as well.
  • Edouard Schubert (1933-34 Nice, 1934-35 AS Cannes) (Maybe István Schubert?) Played for Ferencvaros - No, I could not find him, however it is clearly a Hungarian name again!
  • Szabó (1937-38 RC Lens) - I have two Szabó's from this time. Géza Szabó (1937-39 OSC Lille) and János Szabó (1934-38 FC Sochaux). Please note, that Szabó is the most frequent surname in Hungary.

Also note that I changed the correct spelling of the names according to the Hungarian rules.

If you send an e-mail to [email protected] then I can send you the whole France part of this book in pdf. It is in Hungarian, but it is only data, data, data, so you'll understand everything :-) --gabute (talk) 20:43, 11 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Clubs from Alsace

[edit]

Hello Latouffedisco, I noticed you are creating a fair few articles about former RC Strasbourg players and I was wondering whether you could help me out with your knowledge. I'm currently working on a project, the German Gauliga, which existed from 1933 to 1945. One of them, the Gauliga Elsaß (Gauliga Alsace) consisted exclusevly if French clubs from the Alsace region. Those clubs had to Germanise their names. Do you have any knowledge about those clubs French names they carried until 1940 and after 1944/45? I think, it would add greatly to the article if that information was available. Thanks, EA210269 (talk) 01:48, 18 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the praise, and thanks for the help. I somehow completly missed th AS Strasbourg article when I searched through the clubs. I've added your information straight away. Have fun, EA210269 (talk) 09:10, 18 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Good stuff! It will make it a lot easier to track clubs through this period, especially the ones with no wikipedia article yet. I tried to google the names but found little useful information. If you ever need any help with some German stuff, don't hesitate to ask! Thanks a lot, EA210269 (talk) 09:21, 18 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

List of foreign Ligue 1 players

[edit]

Great! I'm really happy. Great work! --necronudist (talk) 18:45, 21 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Bon travail. A+ Clio64B (talk) 21:51, 21 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed that you redirected the accurate 2006 version of the Damian Manso article to the new and inaccurate one that was made 3 days ago. It would have been much better to preserve the edit history of the accurate article, and move it to Damián Manso rather than hide it behind a redirect. about Olympics' squads

[edit]

Sorry Erwan, I just wanna alert you that coaches' flags are usefull only if he is of another nationality than the one he coaches. E.g. a Brazilian who coaches the Seleção doesn't need any flag. I wish I could find the 1976 line-ups, because I'm a fan of German footbal and particularly Bayern Munich, but stuff prior to 1990 is really hard to find. Hi! Here I've asked to User:201.116.35.58 to provide sources for his edits, since I can't check right now case by case. Here we go again:

Hi again :-) What's your source for the 1924 Italian squad? I've searched everywhere but I can't find that G. Calci (plus, in the official report he isn't mentioned). --necronudist (talk) 17:07, 22 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

He isn't in the official report and I can't find him on 1923-24 Italian championships rosters...maybe he was a trainer or something like. I remove him temporarly, if I find something be sure I'll alert you. Enciclopediadelcalcio is the most reliable website on the Internet, but it's however full of errors, inconsistencies (players with the same surname melt in one) and it's not very complete. Plus, it covers only Serie A period mainly from 1929 to 1950s. --necronudist (talk) 19:35, 22 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:FK Union Cheb.gif)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:FK Union Cheb.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:23, 23 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Abdou Traoré (footballer born 1981), and it appears to be very similar to another wikipedia page: Abdou Traoré. It is possible that you have accidentally duplicated contents, or made an error while creating the page— you might want to look at the pages and see if that is the case.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page.
