40-year old Fargo business page question

[edit]

Hi MathewUND, I found you in the ND project page. I'm a new "registered" user of Wikipedia and am wanting to learn more about the possibility of creating a page for the company I work for, Swanson Health Products. It's a very large international distributor of natural health supplements that was founded in Fargo, ND, and is still family owned. We represent over 17 nations with our large and growing staff. We're one of the best employers in the state and have a significant economic impact. I posed the question on my user page and was given a very nice response by another user saying it would probably be best not to write this on my own. I have read all the guidelines and know he is probably correct. I'm wondering if somebody else would have better luck at writing an article about Swanson, or if it's a lost cause altogether. Any tips? Advice? Point me in the direction of another editor/author? Thank you very much for any help you could give me, and I apologize if this is not the correct forum to ask my question. Shields, North Dakota

[edit]

Could you take a look at Shields, North Dakota. It's been expanded heavily using WP:OR and does not comply with WP:NPOV, particularly the commentary on population. It's been edited by an 96.3.137.168 IP editor and User:Global.Geo.Historic.Data, whom I suspect are the same person or persons. Global.Geo apparently is a "group account," which violates WP policy (per that users talk page). They were questioned in their editing of Bismarck, North Dakota and reprimanded for origional reseach and edit warring. If Global.Geo has stopped editing and switched to this IP as a resuylt, he or she may be trying to subvert these past warnings. The edit pattern is similar, and I've posted a comment on the IP's talk page.

I think the information this person could provide could be beneficial, but I don't want to see articles on North Dakota expanded poorly just for expansions sake. Could you advise on what options there may be?DCmacnut<> 13:41, 22 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of Grand Forks school info

[edit]

Matthew,

I edited the page to include all the Elementary and Middle Schools due to the High Schools and some of the Elementary and Middle Schools being previously listed and in part due to my personal appreciation of several other town pages that have listed their schools, it makes it easy to research education when relocating to a new town. I was a little confused though when I came back and saw that you had edited it to list only the High Schools. My question to you I guess is this, what makes it ok to post some but not all of the schools in the district? What makes the High Schools more important than the lower schools? Personally, I would rather see all the schools listed but I can understand that listing each school individually may not appeal to some people so I wouldn't have a problem with your edit had it played out evenly across the board. In a situation like this, proper etiquette dictates an "all or nothing" approach. What's good for the goose is good for the gander!

Sincerely,

Tankrat29 (talk) 02:25, 30 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
