USRD newsletter

[edit]

In theory, the publication deadline was four days ago, but that's only a suggested goal. Anyway, WP:WikiProject U.S. Roads/Newsletter/Newsroom is where submissions to the newsletter are made, and if you'd like to add something there for Louisiana, it will run in this quarter's issue later this month. (Publication is on hold until some Wikimania-related stuff for USRD is finalized and the required sections are done up.) Imzadi 1979  02:53, 20 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Added some information about the state route project that is being done. I do have an appointment with a lady from the state library, who pulled some newspaper articles on ferry routes in the state, and that information will be added as needed. Mcdonaat 23:05, 20 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The article Parish Road 117 (Webster Parish, Louisiana) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

non-notable parish road

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Re:Proposed deletion of PR 117

[edit]

Per WP:USRD/NT, county/parish roads are usually regarded as not being notable enough for their own articles. However, they may be covered in lists. Dough4872 02:18, 4 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

So, in a nutshell, I should do a list of mini-articles? If so, it would be easy to create a list of every major signed parish road in certain parishes. 'Mcdonaat 02:19, 4 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
That can work. See List of county routes in Hudson County, New Jersey for what the table should look like. NJ and NY use this design to cover their county routes. Dough4872 02:21, 4 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Any idea on how to use just a generic county route marker? There are about 80 in Webster Parish, and it would crash Inkscape to generate one for each highway. 'Mcdonaat 02:23, 4 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
You can add the generic CR markers to the list. However, some routes do not have markers yet, but they can be made as needed. Dough4872 02:27, 4 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
County roads are normally collected into lists by county, so for Louisiana, there would be one list of PRs for each parish. Since we're dealing with just one road for the parish, honestly, I'd leave it alone. However, I kinda caution against making too many PR articles at the moment. Redlinks and unlinked entries in an exit list aren't a problem, but lots of articles of questionable notability are. Imzadi 1979  02:29, 4 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I was going to just take the actual signed parish roads in the state and make one list. See List of county roads in Brevard County, Florida as an example: the shields are already made, and signed routes aren't a problem to create IF they're signed. 'Mcdonaat 02:33, 4 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Louisiana State Route 7, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Sabine River (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Ways to improve Louisiana State Route 63

[edit]

Hi, I'm Legoktm. Mcdonaat, thanks for creating Louisiana State Route 63!

I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. Hi, I don't think "Google Earth" as a url just to the main service is appropriate as a reference, and have removed it.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can leave a comment on my talk page. Or, for more editing help, talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse.
