Guidance on reverting vandalism
[edit]Hi. I just noticed that you reverted vandalism on the Malcolm X page caused by User:68.55.222.76. Thanks for that, reverting vandalism is a very important task on Wikipedia. However, in future can you please leave a warning on the user's talk page? This will serve the dual purpose of encouraging the editor to stop their destructive activities and will also let other editors know that the user has a history of vandalism. For the full guidance on dealing with vandalism and what warning messages to use, please see Wikipedia:Vandalism. Thanks again. Road Wizard 13:53, 11 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit]I like a lot of the work you have done on the portal. It's good to see someone else take an interest. --evrik 20:08, 24 July 2006 (UTC)
- I don't mind collaborating, or that there is a difference of opinion. Next time ... give me a head's up. As for the content ... please leave boathose row, and I think we need a woman in the biogrpahy for the next few months to balance things out. --evrik 19:48, 30 October 2006 (UTC)
Portal Tagging
[edit]Why are we disagreeing on this issue? I think tagging articvles promotes Philadelphia and the work of the wikiproject (pretzel or not). -- evrik 20:07, 24 July 2006 (UTC)

My project page
[edit]Thank you for noting the redirect link on one of my project pages (User:Cobaltbluetony/Project Pages/Haddon Township). However, is it necessary to edit material which has not been formally submitted to an article? - CobaltBlueTony 15:17, 7 August 2006 (UTC)
- It was harmless; I was just wondering how you came upon it. I imagine that sort of fix would have been picked up if/when I submitted the article. No worries, though. - CobaltBlueTony 17:53, 7 August 2006 (UTC)

BBC News Peer review
[edit]Hi. Thanks for your comments on the BBC News peer review. I will act on your suggestions and hope others will do so as well. Wikiwoohoo 16:50, 26 August 2006 (UTC)
- Regarding your suggestions, would you agree that the substantial section and subsections relating to criticism be removed as a whole and summarised, with links to their new locations? That was an idea I had for that part of the article. Wikiwoohoo 16:15, 13 September 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks. I will try to work on the article where I have time to make the improvements. Your suggestions are very much appreciated. Wikiwoohoo 18:38, 14 September 2006 (UTC)

Cultural depictions of Philadelphia
[edit]I fully understand the purpose of the Cultural Depictions article. I simply don't agree with your interpretation. Expanding the introduction in the manner you should suggest would alter the article's fundamental purpose, and that's just not proper. -- ABCxyz 02:34, 13 December 2006 (UTC)
- I'm not trying to be argumentative or condescending, so please don't take it that way, but here is one of Merrian-Webster's defintions of "culture" --
- "[a] the integrated pattern of human knowledge, belief, and behavior that depends upon man's capacity for learning and transmitting knowledge to succeeding generations, [b] the customary beliefs, social forms, and material traits of a racial, religious, or social group, [c] the set of shared attitudes, values, goals, and practices that characterizes a company or corporation"
- Believe or not, those things are embodied in a parade as diverse as the Mummers. It is not simply a parade, and cultural depictions need not be fictional. Even televised coverage of a circus is a depiction of culture (though I wouldn't put one on the list). That's why I disagree with you.

Open solicitation for input/advice
[edit]Hello! There's been some recent activity getting the ball rolling at WikiProject Journalism, and if you'd like to join us, I'm sure your input would be valued. In particular, User:Wiki Wistah has proposed a guideline for editing articles about newspapers, and although I've responded with comments of my own, WW rightly suggested that it should be more than just a two-way conversation. I've noticed some of your own edits on related matters (especially The Philadelphia Inquirer), and thought you might be interested. Any suggestions would certainly be appreciated. Otherwise, if this is not of interest to you, or if you've already got a plateful of editing, feel free to ignore this message! -Tobogganoggin talk 02:06, 4 April 2007 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Inquirerfront.JPG)
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Inquirerfront.JPG. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:20, 15 January 2008 (UTC)

invalid geocoordinates
[edit]The coordinates you added to Commerce Square are invalid because the number of minutes in the latitude (95) is greater than sixty. Perhaps you meant 39.9541 degrees north instead of 39 degrees 95 minutes 41 seconds north. Please check your sources and fix the coordinates in the article. --Stepheng3 (talk) 02:38, 29 July 2009 (UTC)

You are now a Reviewer
[edit]Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, will be commencing a two-month trial at approximately 23:00, 2010 June 15 (UTC).
Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under flagged protection. Flagged protection is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial.
When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.
If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Karanacs (talk) 03:49, 16 June 2010 (UTC)

Just ruined your new GA
[edit]I tried putting in a new NRHP infobox with "contributing building" in it (as is usual but by no means required). I wanted to keep the technical details from the old infobox and tried to embed it - looks like sh--!
Don't worry on 2 counts. 1) I should be able to find somebody who can fix it. 2) if you then don't like it, it's easy enough to go back to the original.
BTW - I got some new pix today.
Smallbones (talk) 01:24, 7 June 2011 (UTC)
- The infobox looks a lot better now - thanks to User:Niagara. I'm almost done with changes - but tomorrow will probably add a minor reference to the historic district. Do feel free to revert any or all of this. Smallbones (talk) 02:26, 7 June 2011 (UTC)
- After a long weekend, I'll certainly be able to take pix of just about any skyscrapers in Philly (there aren't any in NE Philly I hope). That said, skyscrapers are the most difficult buildings to photograph - you need to be blocks away (which can make getting the right address a pain) and have the right light. Best to give me a list of a score or so and be prepared to throw out half of the resulting pix. Just let me know what you need. Smallbones (talk) 18:31, 8 June 2011 (UTC)

DYK for Liberty Place
[edit]On 8 July 2011, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Liberty Place, which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that the construction of One Liberty Place was in breach of a "gentlemen's agreement" not to build any building taller than the statue of William Penn on Philadelphia City Hall (both buildings pictured)? You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and add it to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page. |

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. discussion at WikiProject Philadelphia
[edit]You've worked on articles about Philadelphia, so I'd like you to see a discussion at WikiProject Philadelphia: Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject Philadelphia#IP_editors_are_erasing_neighborhoods.
It's about a spate of recent changes, largely by anonymous users, to articles about Center City Philadelphia. The changes seem misguided to me, and I'd like to hear what other people think. TypoBoy (talk) 00:18, 10 January 2016 (UTC)
