Hello there! Always good to hear from another Welsh-High Wycomber!

Sorry it took so long for a reply back - but I haven't really been around Wiki lately due to ill health. I'll assume you have already quite rightfully corrected those blatant mistakes. The High Wycombe article does have multiple issues.. but I find it dodgy ground, as some editors will defend to the death and constantly revert..

If you look at the streatley page and nancy's talk page you will notice there has been a discussion about this. It is notable. A public figure is threatening civil and criminal damage. If you also look the new page is slightly different to the old one...with rumour removed. Please read around before unilaterally changing things Petsco (talk) 16:11, 28 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I can change the words 'chagrin of most villagers' if you like but if you read the sources you will see that a lot of villagers (admittedly I don't know if it's more than 50% therefore can't say 'most') aren't happy. If you read the minutes of the Goring Parish Council planning committee [1] it makes quite interesting reading. Goring now get to see all planning applications for streatley - which is in a different county. The newbury weekly news quote "Residents are furious..." [2]. The Henley Standard quote "FURIOUS residents are demanding an apology" [3]. Another newbury weekly news quote "Residents' anger at 'desecrated' land " [4]. I could go on.

Unfortunately west berks have taken down all of the objections that existed for another planning application [5] otherwise I could quote some of those letters.

If i could be bothered I'd scan in some of the letters from the Goring Gap News magazine [6]

Peta Buscombe didn't threaten to tear it down - she threatened to blow it up - see one of the sources (the reading chronicle) "Peta Buscombe also wanted to blow up the “monstrous” house and questioned the way the development had been approved by West Berkshire Council which decided to use delegated powers to pass plans".

If you could suggest a more NPOV use of words I'd be happy to change it - but the fact remains that a public figure, chair of an important commission, and an ex Tory Shadow minister for Legal Affairs has threatened criminal damage and is (to quote again) "prepared to go to prison" over it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Petsco (talk • contribs) 09:41, 29 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Like you I do hope the block has the effect of bringing him/her to their senses, although the infrequency of editing does not make a 12 hour block much of a hardship. I reverted your edits, because I'm sick of references being removed from articles, and then the article being tagged as "unreferenced" or material being removed because there's not enough info. It's happened to material which I've sourced myself from books. For one, you removed an OS map reference, which can be easily verified.

I hope in this case, you're acting in good faith, but it's something that annoys me, because it's wrecked other articles which have taken a lot of work.--MacRusgail (talk) 17:34, 7 November 2009 (UTC) p.s. Hey. The correct population for the High Wycombe Urban Area is 118,229, as calculated in the population table available here (I thought edit summaries accepted external links- apparently they don't). I'm not really sure why Cookham is there- presumably they either mean the areas around Cookham Bridge north of the Thames but not in Bourne End, or the area south of the Thames but which forms a continuous urban area with Bourne End.
