A Barnstar!
Thanks for participating in the June 2024 backlog drive!

You scored 27 points while adding citations to articles during WikiProject Reliability's first {{citation needed}} backlog drive, earning you this minor barnstar. Thanks for helping out!

DYK for The Rise and Fall of the Dinosaurs

[edit]

On 11 July 2024, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article The Rise and Fall of the Dinosaurs, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that while reviewers generally praised The Rise and Fall of the Dinosaurs, one reviewer complained that the author was "so nice about his colleagues that it makes you long for a juicy academic vendetta"? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/The Rise and Fall of the Dinosaurs. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, The Rise and Fall of the Dinosaurs), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Question from Afghan1235 (02:01, 11 July 2024)

[edit]

How to make the Wikipedia come up on google when you search it --Afghan1235 (talk) 02:01, 11 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! For an article to show up in a google search, it needs to first be reviewed by a new page patroller. Rusalkii (talk) 19:45, 11 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

July 2024; Unexplained content deletion

[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm Aferditaa. I noticed that you recently removed content from Vaso Cubrilovic  without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the removed content has been restored. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can reply here or in the article talk page. Thanks.

Aferditaa (talk) 22:36, 11 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Oops, I saw the first line ("he became" -> "hebecame") and not the major other changes in the same edit. Thanks for the catch. Rusalkii (talk) 22:37, 11 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
no worries! thanks for catching that typo, I probably would not have noticed otherwise :-) Aferditaa (talk) 22:40, 11 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Referencing a Wikipedia article

[edit]

My previous discussion with you is now archived in May 2024. I discussed editing existing articles and the possibility of posting an already-written article on Wikipedia about myself (not written by anyone I know). You kindly suggested that I post the article and that you will take a look it for possible posting on Wikipedia. Before doing that, I want to include a reference to an existing Wikipedia article. How would I do that? Is there a specific format for that? Note that in our previous exchange you told me that I should login before sending messages. I have now registered myself and have the login name of Joerut -- my previous messages, before I was registered, were from Joseph Rosenstein. Joerut (talk) 01:19, 12 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Joerut if by "reference" you mean a citation to prove a fact, you should not cite wikipedia articles. Instead, cite whatever the article that you're looking at uses as a source. If you just mean including a link, you can surround the title with brackets, like so: [[Example]] Rusalkii (talk) 01:43, 12 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Good point! The Wikipedia article that I wanted to cite did not provide a source for a statement that it made. So I should find an appropriate source and add it to the existing Wikipedia article, and use the source in my article as well. Thank you. Stay tuned. Joerut (talk) 01:54, 12 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Success! I have found a link to an appropriate source and (Success again!) I have added that to the existing Wikipedia article. I have also added it to the article about me, putting the link in double brackets, as in [[Example]] above. Now I need to exit and visit the May 2024 archive where you told me how to upload the article for your review. Joerut (talk) 19:50, 16 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I have now published my proposed Wikipedia page as a draft, as you suggested. I hope that you will have access to it and will be able to review it. I notice that all the references got screwed up, and that I will have to figure out how to unscrew them. Joerut (talk) 19:59, 16 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Maira59 (06:25, 12 July 2024)

[edit]

Hello! How can i edit any links on wikipedia because i edit some links and paste my website link in them but it is removed after some time? --Maira59 (talk) 06:25, 12 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! In general, our External links and conflict of interest policy discourage adding links to your own website. If you still think they should be added, open a edit request on the talk page so that an uninvolved editor can evaluate them. Rusalkii (talk) 02:43, 22 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
