Question from HNoronhaAlves (16:35, 10 August 2024)

[edit]

Hi there! I just created my account. It never happened to think about cooperating in the build of Wikipedia. :) I've been Sometime in East Timor and I realize Tetun is now one of the languages I could localize some articles, since, I guess, there are close to none in Tetun. However, unlike, Portuguese, English, French or Spanish, Tetun would take me a little more time cause I would have to confirm everything with locals to East Timor that actually know and use Tetun, cause of all the variations that exist of it. Do you think that might be actually a good idea? Thanks! hna https://www.hna.pt --HNoronhaAlves (talk) 16:35, 10 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, @HNoronhaAlves; welcome to Wikipedia! Each language version of Wikipedia is operated separately, for the most part. This is the English Wikipedia, so I don't know how the Tetum Wikipedia operates, but you're welcome to contribute to it. All I would caution is that you might want to be careful editing in a language that you don't know particularly well yourself, but it sounds like you already have plans to double-check your work with native speakers, which I think would be helpful. Overall, Wikipedia is a volunteer effort, and you're welcome to contribute to any language version — feel free to edit wherever you'd prefer or where you think you can have the best impact! Question from Msendoo247 (23:32, 10 August 2024)

[edit]

Hi Tol,

I hope you're doing well! I'm excited to start contributing to Wikipedia and I have an idea for a new article I'd like to create. However, I'm a new editor and I'm not sure if I'm allowed to create articles yet.

Could you please let me know if it's okay for me to create a new article? Are there any specific guidelines or requirements I need to follow as a new editor? I'd appreciate your guidance and support.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Best regards, Msendoo --Msendoo247 (talk) 23:32, 10 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, @Msendoo247; welcome to Wikipedia! Until you are autoconfirmed (when your account is four days old and you have made ten edits), you can't directly create new articles. However, you are more than welcome to create a draft and submit it for review through the Articles for Creation (AfC) process. Some important guidelines for creating that draft (such as notability) are explained further on the AfC page I linked. Please let me know if you have any further questions! Question from Mall Aviation and More (22:49, 20 August 2024)

[edit]

Hello Tol, so I know the owners of a two-location restaurant named Millers Roast Beef. I would like to know if it was possible to make a Wikipedia article about their restaurant using the info they tell me about the history of their restaurant. Do you know if this is possible? If not I will just research myself for information.

Thank you for being my mentor! From Mall Aviation and More! --Mall Aviation and More (talk) 22:49, 20 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
