Hi, I see you added the {{vandalblock}} tag to User talk:Bobby1234567890. This is inappropriate. The user concerned has not been indefinitely blocked and adding a tag that suggests he has is misleading. Please do not do so again. Thanks, Gwernol 00:26, 11 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for Image:My very fluffy cat.JPG

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:My very fluffy cat.JPG. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 02:08, 17 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit]

Thank you for uploading Image:Andromedasculpt.jpg. However, Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. cohesion 04:27, 1 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

thanks for pointing out that the pic was not lisenced. how do i change the copyright info of a pic that has already been uploaded? Use the force 03:21, 5 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No problem, I'm glad you responded! All you need to do it pick the way you would like to license the image from the tags available on Wikipedia:Image copyright tags in the section called "for image creators", then on the image page, click "edit", then replace the tag that says {{no license|month=January|day=1|year=2007}} with the one you would like, including the double brackets. Be sure to tag the other images you uploaded also. If you have any questions let me know! - cohesion 03:31, 5 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Chemistry info on new pages

[edit]

Hey mate good work with making new pages for the obscure chems out of PIHKAL, I've been going through and adding extra stuff like CAS numbers for all the compounds. Just a few mistakes though; GANESHA is not synthesised from 2C-G, and 2C-T-13 is not synthesised from 2C-T-2....neither of those synthetic routes would be practical. Also Shulgin didn't make 2C-F from 2,5-dimethoxybenzaldehyde, although he probably could have done he chose a different route instead. If you read the chemistry sections of the PIHKAL page he says what they are actually made from, but I don't think these details are really needed for the wikipedia page so long as there is a link to the page from PIHKAL that has the full synthesis route written out. Otherwise good stuff, I hope to see many more pages on obscure psychadelics from you yet...there's still most of PIHKAL and TIHKAL to go! Meodipt 05:09, 24 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Got it... fewer synthesis routes and more links to pihkal, thanks! Use the force 16:33, 24 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

MDMC disambig.

[edit]

The MDMC in PiHKAL is very different from what is more recently called MDMC - a logical name defined from the 'Methylenedioxy-' and 'methcathinone' combined structure.

The MDMC in PiHKAL is named so because: "This compound got the sobriquet MACADAM from that horrible black gooey mess generated at the aldehyde stage. This was shortened to RCS and eventually the RCS was added to the MDMA parent name. Thus, MDMC. It doesn't really make sense; EDMA is more reasonable. But then there is no reason why MDMC should make sense."

Compare: aka methylone and PiHKAL's MDMC. The MDMC 'methylone' article linked in Template:PiHKAL is not the same MDMC ("What a strange and completely unsatisfactory compound!") in PiHKAL.

Psi-DOM

[edit]

Hey mate good work with adding all those chems from PIHKAL, churning through them! Just noticed that you had made psi-DOM into a redirect page; I have amended this as I felt it could do with its own page. psi-DOM is a different compound from DOM which has slightly distinct albeit similar effects. I guess its not a particularly noteworthy compound but its interesting to note that the two methoxy groups from the DOx series can be put onto the 2,6 (or indeed the 3,5) positions instead of the 2,5 and still retain activity, so I thought a page for psi-DOM would be a good place to note this.

Some PIHKAL chemical structures.

[edit]

Hey, I've done a few structures for the PIHKAL template, i've posted them here so you can use them in the pages when they are created (most if not all are the page name so don't need worrying about any special linkage).

Unspecified source for Image:Dilated pupils rev.JPG.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Dilated pupils rev.JPG.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self-no-disclaimers}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 11:31, 20 April 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sherool (talk) 11:31, 20 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

What image did you use to create it? There are all sorts of images on Wikipedia, we need to know which image is the orignal and what it's copyright status was. Some (if not most) of the free licenses require that derivative works keep the same license as the original and credit the author and so on. --Sherool (talk) 22:57, 22 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

TiHKAL

[edit]

I have made a page for TiHKAL drugs and added the link onto most of the relevant chems (except a couple like LSD and Ibogaine that i'm not sure whether it would be appropriate). Also added a few new pages for some of the ones that didn't have entries. Oh yeah and you mention that your free chemdraw subscription has run out, i use ACD labs ISISdraw myself, as there is a fully functional freeware version, does pretty much everything chemdraw does except for 3D projections of stereoisomers, but for 2D chemical drawing its quite adequate. Regarding the bullets used as separators between the list items in Template:PiHKAL, I took a look and added the only one I found missing, between Ortho-DOT and Proscaline. To answer your question, the simplest way to add a bullet would be to copy one that's already there and then paste it where you want it. You could also add one by placing • where you want the bullet to appear. -- Zyxw 21:48, 8 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on DigiTech JamMan, by TheVoidmaKer, another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because DigiTech JamMan is blatant advertising for a company, product, group, service or person that would require a substantial rewrite in order to become an encyclopedia article.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting DigiTech JamMan, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. PiHKAL and TiHKAL articles

The Tireless Contributor Barnstar
I, Danelo, hereby award you this Tireless Contributor Barnstar for your invaluable contributions to WikiProject Psychedelics, Dissociatives and Deliriants and Wikipedia in general via the creation of a bajillion (or so) PiHKAL and TiHKAL-related articles. Good work! ~ Danelo 19:02, 1 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Aspirin has been selected as this week's Pharmacology Collaboration of the Week! Please help us bring this article up to featured standards during the week. The goal is to nominate this at WP:FAC on September 10, 2007.

Also, please visitWP:RxCOTW to support other articles for the next COTW. Articles that have been nominated thus far include Doxorubicin, Paracetamol (in the lead with 4 support votes so far), Muscle relaxant, Ethanol, and Bufotenin.

In other news:

  • The Wikipedia:WikiProject Pharmacology main page has been updated and overhauled, to make it easier to find things, as well as to highlight other goals and announcements for the project.
  • Fvasconcellos notes that discussion is ongoing regarding the current wording of MEDMOS on including dosage information in drug articles. All input is welcome.

Drugbox

[edit]

Hi. I'm not criticizing your (excellent) work, but I noticed that most of the PiHKAL and TiHKAL articles have an infobox other than {{drugbox}}. Since WP:PDD is a descendant project of WP:PHARM, and the articles in question are all drugs, it'd probably be best if we standardized the articles by using the drugbox. To that end, I've going through the PDD articles and changing the infobox, if need be. Just lettin' you know! :) ~ Danelo 19:43, 7 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Here's a brief update in some of the recent developments of WikiProject Pharmacology!

  • Aspirin has just completed its two week run as the first Collaboration of the Week! Many thanks to those editors that contributed; the article got a lot of good work accomplished, and in particular, much work was done in fixing up the history section. It's still not quite "done" yet (is a wikipedia article really ever done?), but after two weeks I think it's more important to push onwards with the development of the new collaboration of the week program. I will be fixing up Aspirin in the next few days and possibly nominating it for either GA or FA status.
  • Please remember that Wikipedia is not a forum for discussing or dispensing medical advice amongst users. Specifically, talk pages of articles should only be used to discuss improving the actual article in question. To help alleviate this situation, the template {{talkheader}} may be added to the top of talk pages, reminding users of the purpose of such pages. Additionally, unsigned comments and comments by anonymous users that are inappropriate may be removed from talk pages without being considered vandalism.

You are receiving this message because you are listed as one of the participants of WikiProject Pharmacology.

Articles on chess subvariations

[edit]

Hello fellow Wikipedian! First I would like to thank you for having joined the WikiProject Chess with enthusiasm and dynamism. It is always a pleasure to see new members coming in and bringing fresh ideas. Following your recent creations of articles on chess subvariations, I have started a general discussion about how we should structure the information about these subvariations, mostly when should we create new articles and when should keep the information in the main article. I would be happy for you to give your opinion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Chess#One article for each variation ?, if you wish to do so. Happy editing! SyG 09:49, 7 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • The article Bulgarian Variation has been proposed for deletion, though you, as well as any other are free to contest that if you think the proposal is wrong (that would lead to a full discussion). The reason for the proposal is that I am concerned over the quality of sourcing, as well as the obscurity leading to a lack of notability of the reply 3...a5 to the Ruy Lopez. In general, I think variations of chess openings should be covered in the main article on the individual opening, unless the variation is very major, e.g. Najdorf Variation of the Sicilian. But thanks from me to for active participation in the Chess WikiProject. Sjakkalle (Check!) 06:30, 16 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Working together for SVG

[edit]

Hey, Use the Force, I really like that you've created so many models of chemical molecules. The only problem is that they aren't vector graphics. I've been working busily to convert different rastor images into vector images. Perhaps we could work together to clean up all the chemistry rastor images and turn them into SVGs? It's really a simple process, and I'm sure it'd mean a lot to the wikipedia as a whole. Give it some thought and let me know- Benrr101 01:50, 16 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It's really simple (at least to me)! 1. Download and install Inkscape (if you haven't already) 2. Load up your raster image in a viewer (not inkscape) 3. In inkscape, I'm working on a kit of inkscape drawing that can be used in creating skeletal models of organic chemistry (carbon rings, etc), If you'd like I can upload it and you can use it to make the vector images. 4. Draw the image in inkscape 5. Add the labels for thing such as H, OH, etc 6. Save it, and upload it.

Actually, I'm terrible at explaining things. If you don't get what I'm saying, I'll try to refine it so it actually makes sense. Thanks! Benrr101 02:11, 16 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

6-MeO-THH error(s)

[edit]

Hey Use the force I came across some minor problems with the 6-MeO-THH article you made. The first is it states "lesser-known psychedelic drug" when Dr. Shulgin states it's inactive. This is not a big deal, I'll fix it unless you have a source stating it's active. The other problem is it states "first synthesized by Alexander Shulgin" but has no references to support it, so again I feel it should be removed until it can be referenced. Being in TiHKAL doesn't necessarily mean Dr. Shulgin first synthesized it, but I'm sure you know this. And lastly for chemical formula it says "C13H13N2" when 6-MeO-THH has a oxygen. When I made the molecule in PubChem and ACD/ChemSketch it came out C13H16N2O with three hydrogens and a oxygen more than the original version. I'm sure this is the correct chem. formula, but I'm not a Chemist so if I'm wrong please correct me. I'll fix up the article to the best I can, feel free to change my edits if I'm wrong, or add if you can.

Mistakes aside thanks for taking the time to create the article. Take care.--Astavats (talk) 02:36, 11 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The Wikipedia Library now offering accounts from Cochrane Collaboration (sign up!)

[edit]

Cochrane Collaboration is an independent medical nonprofit organization consisting of over 28,000 volunteers in more than 100 countries. The collaboration was formed to organize medical scholarship in a systematic way in the interests of evidence-based research: the group conducts systematic reviews of randomized controlled trials of health-care interventions, which it then publishes in the Cochrane Library.

Cochrane has generously agreed to give free, full-access accounts to 100 medical editors. Individual access would otherwise cost between $300 and $800 per account. Thank you Cochrane!

If you are stil active as a medical editor, come and sign up :)
