Your map

[edit]

I love your map of Vietnam, I've made a lot of maps myself, but I wanted to know, what two fonts did you use? Thanks. :) --Golbez 07:10, 15 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have only edited and created a new version of the map available on Wikipedia. It may be originated from Website Vietnamtourism.--Vietlong 16:11, 16 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Warning sign
This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:VietnameseProvincesMap edited.png. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then there needs to be an argument why we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then it needs to be specified where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, consider reading fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other media, consider checking that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --Hetar 02:24, 1 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have created, e.g. made corrections (because of division of provinces) from the old version of this file, having existed in English Wikipedia. The old version is not correct in regard to new boundaries between provinces after their division. I think the its source is in website of Vietnamtourism ( with extension of .org.vn?). so there is no problem in copyright. --Vietlong 16:27, 5 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:LocationVietnamLaiChau2.png. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

I have created, e.g. made corrections from the old file in English Wikipedia. Similar files are in each article of Vietnam provinces, such as An Giang, Bac Lieu. the only work I made is to change the color of the provinces in concern. --Vietlong 16:34, 5 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Redirects

[edit]

Thank you for noticing the errors between Ideopsis vulgaris and Ideopsis similis. I have placed the articles in correct perspective now but in doing so I have had to revert your redirects of Ideopsis spp. Butterflies of India are a large (1000 spp) subproject which are all referenced by scientific name except in case of European butterflies. In case you are a first time contributor on butterflies, a good place to visit is WikiProject Lepidoptera. Welcome to Wikipedia! AshLin 13:00, 31 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Image source problem with Image:Ninh Binh2.png

[edit]
Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:Ninh Binh2.png. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 02:36, 31 October 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Jusjih 02:36, 31 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. When you recently edited Poecilotriccus, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Flycatcher (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Golden puddle frog

[edit]

Hello, you recently moved Phrynobatrachus auritus to golden puddle frog. In my opinion this was not a good move. According to the WP:NCFAUNA, the most common name should be used, which in this case would be "eared river frog" (based on Google hits, with a large margin). However, again by a good margin, the scientific name is much more used. It is not wrong to use the common name, but I think that the scientific names are the best page titles for species with obscure and little used common names. Common names can be used as redirects. This has been discussed many times, and although the plant project has chosen this as their guideline, there is no overwhelming consensus to support this view for animals. Cheers, Micromesistius (talk) 20:10, 26 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, thank you for your opinion. While I worked over a Vietnamese translation of The Natural History Book, published by DK, 2010, I saw that Phrynobatrachus auritus has [only] common name "golden puddle frog" (p. 364), and Wikipedia didn't give its common names, so I added this common name to the Wikipedia's article for easy reference. I think they have chosen this common name because it's the most popular name. Cheers, --Vietlong (talk) 08:11, 27 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

When I search, "eared river frog" has 7 results, including 4 "Big-eared River Frog" (Thoropa megatympanum), so the net results are only 3, compared with 4 results of "golden puddle frog". If you see that was not a good move, you can revert and add these common names to this species. --Vietlong (talk) 08:24, 27 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hispa

[edit]

Hi Vietlong,

I see that you created the article Hispa with no references. I tried to find a reference, and found this book: Leschen, Richard A. B.; Beutel, Rolf G. (2014). Morphology and Systematics: Phytophaga. Walter de Gruyter. ISBN 9783110274462. Retrieved 27 November 2018.

I'm not an expert in the material, and it's not clear to me whether that source solidly supports your assertion in the article. Is Hispa really a genus? It seems to me that it's a tribe. --Slashme (talk) 10:07, 27 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your notice.
I am sure that Hispa is a genus, not a tribe. If it's a a tribe, it's name ends in -ini, e.g. Hispini. You can see the following links to assure yourself:
