I am currently working with raising San Juan, Puerto Rico to Good Article, but since at the moment the work on the page is paused waiting for a review to raise it to that category, I have been preparing to work in raising other pages in my priority list to this status; mainly Jose Juan Barea and Carlos Arroyo, because of them being the two players in the NBA until next year they are going to attract the most attention, are you interested in helping me here? - 22:40, 19 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Most of all we need a lot of references to replace the ones linking to El Nuevo Dia's page, because those pages become archive after a month and they are inassesible without paying a membership fee. -- 00:15, 20 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hey! The Puerto Rico Portal page has been revamped with additional content, including a Selected series of Articles, Pictures, and Biographies related to Puerto Rico. However, maintaining a Portal is no easy task. As a member of the WikiProject Puerto Rico, please consider helping out in one of the following tasks:

  • You can add Puerto Rico current events and news to the In the news... section as they occur.
  • You can participate in the discussion of Nominations for content nominated to Selected status.
  • You can nominate content for Selected status in the Nominations page.

Your help and contributions are greatly appreciated. Enjoy the Portal! - Mtmelendez (Talk|UB|Home) 03:50, 1 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Tribute to "the Marine"

I would like to pay a small tribute in this edition to Tony "the Marine". Editing since May 24, 2004, he has been one of our project's most active editors and has become one of Wikipedia's most recognized writers. He has authored over 400 articles, including 4 Featured Articles, 1 Featured List, 10 Good Articles, and 28 DYKs. His name has appeared in newspapers and magazines and has been mentioned by politicians and artists. He has brought Puerto Rico's history and its people to the web. He has shown the world that Puerto Ricans have done much more than just be gangsters and drug dealers. He has shown the world that we have contributed to history and the world just as much as any other group of people.

On September 29, 2007, Tony announced that we would not be writing for Wikipedia anymore. We, the members of this project, are sad that he will not be able to continue to spread the word of Hispanics' contributions here on the web, but I, for one, feel honored that he has entrusted us with the duty of continuing and improving his excellent work.

Tony, rest assured that your contributions, your wisdom, and the help you provided to all of us when we were new users will be remembered for generations. Que Dios te bendiga, Tony, y que tu recompensa sea grande en el Reino de los Cielos.

Viva Puerto Rico libre. —Agüeybaná 16:52, 30 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Headers

[edit]

When adding new sections please note that according to Wikipedia's manual of style only the first word in the header is capitalized, just a friendly notice, keep up the good work. - Caribbean~H.Q. 01:14, 18 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Why do you keep changing the headers to caps? the proper format is "Career stats" not "Career Stats" this is the project's manual of style please edit according to it. - Caribbean~H.Q. 01:21, 18 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Seriously stop, you are creating innessesary work for other users to fix, this can be considered disruptive to a level. - Caribbean~H.Q. 01:28, 18 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Antonio J. Ramos

[edit]

Wvivoni, I looked over the article that you created on Antonio J. Ramos, very nice work. I also liked the fact that you used the format that I created for our military heroes, that's great! It looks real good. Good work. Tony the Marine (talk) 21:43, 16 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Jacob Lozada

[edit]

Vivoni, it is always great to see your contributions in Wikipedia, however I would like to explain why "Jacob Lozada has been removed from the "List of Puerto Ricans".

Lozada, was not notable nor did he do anything notable as a Military person. True he was a Colonel in the Army, however rank alone does not make you notable, there have been thousands of Colonels in the Army.

As a politician, if you feel that Lozada was notable, you may place his name again. You must remember that not all those appointed to public office are notable, however if you add his name, you must provide a reliable verifiable source which cites his notablility as required by established policy, otherwise his name will be removed once more. Thank you and take care. Tony the Marine (talk) 19:13, 28 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Saludos to all, I present to you the new version of our project's Newsletter. It has been almost a year since the last edition, but rest assured that we haven't been lazy. Our Good Article count has raised by 11, while we have produced two Featured Lists and two Featured Articles. I will tweak the delivery format, from now on the Newsletter will be delivered per season. That means four anual editions, one for summer, fall, winter and spring. Speaking of summer, it has been a hot one, make sure to check out the project news below. I will also introduce a new section titled "Puerto Rican Highlight" where we will comment about positive accomplishments reached by Puerto Ricans and our representative organizations. - Caribbean~H.Q. 01:17, 29 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Flags and records

Greetings, during the past months, there has been a lot of activity and active discussion surrounding articles within our scope. Of particular interest is one that took place in Flag of Puerto Rico, in which several project members exposed their points of view regarding the tones of our flag. Ultimately, research brought forth a severe loophole in the regulation employed by the Senate of Puerto Rico. Our flag doesn't have official tones! Attempting to prevent future conflicts, I presented a proposal in the project's talk page. The subsequent discussion served as an perfect example of consensus. Thanks to everyone for your participation. In other news, our friend Tony the Marine added another impressive achievement to his brilliant resume. On December 8, 2008, his DYK hook for Ivan Castro (soldier) broke the previous all-time record for more views, receiving 71,300 visits. Tony has also been actively cooperating with this Newsletter, the inclusion of a new "Did you Know?" section, was entirely his idea. - Caribbean~H.Q. 22:34, 16 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Unreferenced BLPs

[edit]

Hello Wvivoni! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 3 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

Latin American 10,000 Challenge invite

[edit]

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Latin America/The 10,000 Challenge ‎ has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Brazil, Mexico, Peru and Argentina etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Latin American content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon. If you would like to see this happening for Latin America, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Latin America, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant!♦ --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 00:57, 27 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
