Wright is a census-designated place (CDP) in Ford County, Kansas, United States.[1] As of the 2020 census, the population was 145.[2] It is located along Highway 50.

History[edit]

Wright is named for Robert M. Wright, a member of the Kansas House of Representatives from 1875 to 1883 and one of the founders and early mayors of Dodge City.[3]

Geography[edit]

Wright is located on U.S. Route 50 and U.S. Route 56 7 miles (11 km) east of Dodge City.

Climate[edit]

The climate in this area is characterized by hot, humid summers and generally mild to cool winters. According to the Köppen Climate Classification system, Wright has a humid subtropical climate, abbreviated "Cfa" on climate maps.[4]
