Oscar voor beste mannelijke hoofdrol

De Oscar voor beste mannelijke hoofdrol (ook bekend als de Academy Award voor beste mannelijke hoofdrol, eerder de Oscar/Academy Award voor beste acteur genoemd) is een jaarlijkse prijs van de Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Het is een van de belangrijkste Oscars, voor de beste acteur in een hoofdrol van het voorgaande jaar. Welke acteurs daarvoor in aanmerking komen wordt bepaald door mensen die werkzaam zijn in de filmindustrie. Uiteindelijk worden er maximaal vijf bekendgemaakt die zijn genomineerd voor de prijs. Tijdens de jaarlijkse uitreiking wordt bekendgemaakt welke van deze vijf acteurs de prijs wint.
