Area code 228 is a telephone area code in the state of Mississippi, United States. It was created on September 15, 1997, when it was split from area code 601. It covers the Gulf Coast region of Mississippi. Some of the major cities and towns in this area code include Biloxi, Gulfport, Pascagoula, Ocean Springs, and Bay St. Louis. As of 2024, it is not set to be used up for a very long time.^[1]
