A horror game is a video game genre centered on horror fiction. Unlike most other video game genres, it defined through theme and setting, with individual games using a variety of gameplay features. "Horror game" can also refer to tabletop role-playing games that are horror themed.

The most popular subgenre is survival horror, other subgenres do exist, they include: action horror, psychological horror, reverse horror, and mascot horror which sparked in popularity during the 2020s.
