Roanne is a French commune, a subprefecture in the Loire department in central France. It is in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. It is also the capital of the arrondissement of Roanne.

[change | change source]The commune of Roanne is in the north of the Loire department and has an area of 16.1 km2 (6.2 sq mi).[2] The average altitude is 281 m (922 ft) and the city hall is an altitude of 278 m (912 ft).[3]
