Wayson Choy - Simple English Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Wayson Choy CM (Chinese: 崔維新; April 20, 1939 – April 28, 2019) was a Canadian novelist. Choy wrote the award-winning book The Jade Peony (1995). The novel's sequel, All That Matters, was published in 2004. His memoir Paper Shadows: A Chinatown Childhood (1999), won the 2000 Edna Staebler Award for Creative Non-Fiction. In 2005, Choy was made a member of the Order of Canada.
Choy was born in Vancouver, British Columbia. He had a Chinese background. He spent his childhood in the city's Chinatown. Choy attended Gladstone Secondary School in East Vancouver. He attended the University of B.C..[1] Choy was openly gay.[2]
Choy died on April 28, 2019, at the age of 80.[3]
