Good Shepherd Community Church Scarborough

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Good Shepherd Community Church Scarborough, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article is a repost of either already posted material, or of material that was previously deleted in a deletion debate, such as articles for deletion. If you can indicate how Good Shepherd Community Church Scarborough is different from all other articles, or if you can indicate why this article should not be deleted, I advise you to place the template {{hangon}}, and also put a note on Talk:Good Shepherd Community Church Scarborough saying why this article should stay. An admin should check for such edits before deleting the article. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Please read our criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 4 under General criteria. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. We welcome your help in trying to improve Wikipedia, and we ask you to follow these instructions. Tevildo 15:12, 30 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The Honourable

[edit]

One only has the title "honourable" for life if one's been inducted into the Privy Council for Canada. Harris and Evens haven't been so their honorifics expired when they left office. Reggie Perrin (talk) 15:41, 9 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article List of Famous Players theatres, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 16:50, 12 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Help with citing the Star Trek: The Music article

[edit]

I copied this from my talk page. This is what you do to cite articles properly and easily: first install WikEd by following the instructions in this link. After that, there should be a button that shows as {{CITE}} above the edit window. Create a references section and add {{reflist}} there. I did just that in that requested article. Johnny Au (talk/contributions) 18:27, 21 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

In other notes, I added a wikilink to that article in the main article, as well as in its template. Johnny Au (talk/contributions) 18:42, 21 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Removing warning messages

[edit]

Please be advised that removing warning messages from your talk page is a futile effort, and is seen by some editors and administrators as acting in bad faith. The record of warnings is easily restored, and any editor or admin can see it at any time they wish. Thank you. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 03:17, 22 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Need Permission to use your contribs: reply

[edit]

This is taken from my talk page.

For the Star Trek: The Music article, I need permission to use your contribs at Memory Alpha. Please, go to the talkpage and let them know if it's ok... Thank you! AllanVS (talk) 21:25, 26 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, I decided to devote my contributions to Wikipedia and Veropedia. However, you can use my contributions on the Memory Alpha wiki, as long as you use your name. I am not part of the Star Trek WikiProject. Just make sure that you use the entire web page for the wiki, since it is not part of Wikipedia by adding en.wikipedia.org/wiki/(the article in Wikipedia) to the link, but replace the italics with the Wikipedia article. Logos

[edit]

On May 31, you added the Interac, Visa, Inc., MasterCard, and American Express logos to List of Toronto subway and RT stations (see diff). I want to tell you that those images are not free. Each use must have a detailed "non-free use rationale" as per WP:NFURG. I'm going to take it upon myself to remove each use of these images from that page. I have to ask you to double check every time you think about using an image on any page. If it has a boiler-plate non-free image template, you have to create a new rationale for the article you just placed the image in. Thanks. Cavenba (talkcontribs) 15:28, 5 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

As edits were made that conflicted with the original, I wasn't able to undo the adding of the images. And I am sorry if it left the article in a rather poor state, but if it had been a bot (which it eventually would've been, the same outcome would've been the result. I don't really have time to make major changes to articles, but upholding one of Wikipedia's... no, Wikimedia's policies is extremely important. Thanks. Unspecified source/license for Image:Treo650.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Treo650.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. Even if you created the image yourself, you still need to release it so Wikipedia can use it. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you made this image yourself, you can use copyright tags like {{PD-self}} (to release all rights), {{self|CC-by-sa-3.0|GFDL}} (to require that you be credited), or any tag here - just go to the image, click edit, and add one of those. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by MifterBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. --MifterBot (TalkContribsOwner) 22:57, 3 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:Windows_Live_messenger_Chat.jpg

File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Windows_Live_messenger_Chat.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the GFDL or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to [email protected], stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to [email protected].

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MBisanz talk 05:52, 9 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The issue is that Microsoft owns the rights to the Messenger interface, so only Microsoft can re-grant those rights. In limited circumstances, an image can be used under a claim of fairuse, as described at WP:NFC, but that is an individual circumstance for each image. MBisanz talk 05:54, 12 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for File:KoboVoxGreen.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:KoboVoxGreen.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.

To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Ways to improve Greg Cravens (cartoonist)

[edit]

Hi, I'm Wgolf. AllanVS, thanks for creating Greg Cravens (cartoonist)!

I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. More info about him

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can leave a comment on my talk page. Or, for more editing help, talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse. Wgolf (talk) 15:59, 10 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Greg Cravens (cartoonist) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. TheLongTone (talk) 16:08, 10 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Photo

[edit]

I have returned the photo after your request. But still the reservations remain that this was a photo taken from an online site. The photo is included in the Hubris website and is their property. Me, I am not overzealous, but eventually my feeling is that it will be disallowed. Inclusion of photos at whatever cost is not a good approach. Many of our articles don't have photos precisely because of this, even though the person may have had tens of photos online we could have used from blogs or events he was in etc. In my note, I had commented that if you are that close to the individual, the best approach is to wait for an occasion to take a photo of him yourself and use it after uploading it duly in Wikimedia. werldwayd (talk) 04:53, 19 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

No. No need. I don'tneed to contact him. It is a matter of trust. I take your word for it. But truly, take my advice and arrange for an original photo that can be taken for Wikipedia purposes, unpublished in online media, and can be used for the article. It should also be a toned down photo. The photo taken here is not a particularly good photo for our purposes. It is an "action photo" taken sideways not a straight face photo. It shows him during a sports or leisure activity not related to his profession of cartoons. It sends in all the wrong message signals for the page and the artist. werldwayd (talk) 05:31, 19 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Allan, that's all I want to say on this. My role is very detached and impersonal. Part of what I do, and this my involvement here, is that I check articles listed for deletion, if I find enough notability of the individual and worth our while to save a certain article, I remove most non-encyclopedic aspects of the article, try to add some references, standardise and maintain certain article requirements, and this way I try to save articles nominated by other colleagues from imminent deletion if possible. I have done tens of thousands of edits related to thousands of articles and I just have a feel how an article should be. I have no particular interest in any one article or any one subject. If my edits are reverted, I don't mind. I've done what I possibly could here. I still feel a straight face photo taken ideally for Wikipedia unpublished elsewhere is the best approach. In many occasions, an article with no photo is perfectly alright too. All the best to you. werldwayd (talk) 05:54, 19 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

    • If you'd bothered to look at all the history, I sent a copy of the email, that Mr. Cravens sent to ME, giving me permission to use said photo on Wikipedia. Of course, you're not an admin, thus, you don't have the ability to see the copy right info that I sent. Leave the image, as it's valid. AllanVS talk contribs 21:53, 20 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  1. The is nothing in the file history https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=File:Greg_Cravens,_surronded_by_books.jpg&action=history
  2. I am an admin, and there's nothing else there.
  3. Permission for "use on Wikipedia" is always insufficient. 'All Wikipedia free image are available for re-use for any purpose, including commercial.
  4. Intensive searching at OTRS eventually found one letter (Ticket#2014030910007534), which was replied by the OTRS agent on 12/04/2014 01:57, and never replied by yourself. We must have permission to at least a CC-BY-SA license.
If you intend to furnish enough permission, then let me know and I'll remove the no-permission notice, but you must get the full permission from the copyright holder, or it will come up again for deletion.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 22:08, 20 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
      • I sent an email, which was a forward from Mr. Cravens, granting me permission to use the file on here. If admin's can't find it, it's their fault, NOT mine. I sent the permission, I'll try to send again. This is ridiculous and why I've stopped coming to edit articles on here. I feel 'why bother wasting my time.' ... AllanVS talk contribs 22:14, 20 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I'll repeat it - the permission was not enough, as was stated in the e-mail sent to you. We have to have permission to CC-BY-SA as a minimum - http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/. Most people will not allow that much release, as it allows the image to be used for commercial use with no payment. If you did not get the reply from OTRS, the let me know and I will send it again.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 00:36, 21 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I've sent it again anyway.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 00:38, 21 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
It doesn't matter - I'm done with the BS. Greg gave me - as you seen in the email - full permission to use the photo for any and all use. The fact that you and the rest of the admin's don't understand "free and clear use" means you're not able to understand common language. I'm done with the games that you admin's play, I'm down with your power tripping and childish behaviour. I'm done editing wikipedia. I'm closing my account, and not coming back. AllanVS talk contribs 00:58, 21 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I have rechecked the ticket - the word "free" does not exist in the e-mail you sent (and I sent back yesterday). I also checked there was no other message from you - that ticket is the only e-mail with your e-mail address in it.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 19:23, 21 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

Martok

[edit]

Thank you on behalf of Wikipedia and Star Trek fans for being a part of the Star Trek project. In case you did not see the article alert, Martok was put up for AFD today here. Lets try to avoid a repeat of Weyoun, which was deleted with one vote! Starspotter (talk) 18:13, 11 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
