Provident Metals[edit]
Could you help me understand why you deleted the Provident Metals article? I believe their connections to Phil Parson's racing, Josh Wise and the Royal Canadian Mint make them notable. I also don't see much difference between the article I created and APMEX. Could you tell me what, specifically, sounded promotional on Provident's article that is not considered promotional in the APMEX article? The two were similar in content.
I appreciate any insight you can offer.

Everything you've said makes perfect sense. Thanks for taking the time to explain.

csd[edit]
To psss speedy, merely a claim of some plausible significance is required; its much less than notability. To say someone is a US district court judge is certainly a claim to significance--and in fact, all US district court judges are generally considered notable. Please read WP:CSD for the full rules, and also WP:Deletion policy. And, when you nominate an article for deletion, please make sure to say so explicitly in the article summary. December 2016[edit]
Hello, I'm Zackmann08. Thank you for your recent contributions to Anthony Gill (basketball). I noticed that when you added the image to the infobox, you added it as a thumbnail. In the future, please do not use thumbnails when adding images to an infobox (see WP:INFOBOXIMAGE). What does this mean? Well in the infobox, when you specify the image you wish to use, instead of doing it like this:
|image=[[File:SomeImage.jpg|thumb|Some image caption]]
Instead just supply the name of the image. So in this case you can simply do:
|image=SomeImage.jpg
.
There will then be a separate parameter for the image caption such as |caption=Some image caption
. Please note that this is a generic form message I am leaving on your page because you recently added a thumbnail to an infobox. The specific parameters for the image and caption may be different for the infobox you are using! Please consult the Template page for the infobox being used to see better documentation. Thanks! References[edit]
Remember that when adding content about health, please only use high-quality reliable sources as references. We typically use review articles, major textbooks and position statements of national or international organizations (There are several kinds of sources that discuss health: here is how the community classifies them and uses them). WP:MEDHOW walks you through editing step by step. A list of resources to help edit health content can be found here. The edit box has a built-in citation tool to easily format references based on the PMID or ISBN. We also provide style advice about the structure and content of medicine-related encyclopedia articles. The welcome page is another good place to learn about editing the encyclopedia. Thanks for the notification. However, you should've dug deeper. Total Card Games! The Biggest and Best Collection of Solo & Group Card Games is actually the problem. Articles for deletion/Burak Davutoğlu[edit]
Hi Cbs527,
Thanks for your giving time for the article Burak Davutoğlu, with detailed detections and samples. Your such "delete" voting is more valuable for me, than some "keep" votings like IP users. I see and feel just you and User:Dthomsen8. try to be objective, sensible, helpful and fair. Thanks both for your additions. All I need is really such kind of help. For a month, I feel like a lawyer trying to save someone who was unjustly condemned to death.
After reading your comment, I removed lots of links from article. For now, it has just 24. And, to make summery and make it easier for you, I've listed below that why this article suitable for WP:NACTOR, WP:BASIC and WP:GNG. You can look the others in the article. If you would like to look and share your opinion, I will be happy.
(Just some examples) It says;
"Has had significant roles in multiple notable films, television shows, stage performances, or other productions."
Editors may also use material from reliable non-academic sources, particularly if it appears in respected mainstream publications. Other reliable sources include: University-level textbooks, Books published by respected publishing houses, Magazines, Journals, Mainstream newspapers. “Sources may encompass published works in all forms and media, and in any language.”''
- He's the lead actor of his last plays Kerbela and Aldatma (Betrayal). These plays are notable in Turkey.
We can see in important institute İstanbul City Theatres official play fragman here: Aldatma: here
- In this TV channel interview here, presenter says that "Başrol oyuncusu Burak Davutoğlu" (it means Lead actor) for Kerbela play and.
- His TV dramas displayed on mainstream chanels, also in 17 countries in the world.
- In this TV dramas, some of them he was the lead actor or he shared the roles with lead artists.
- In this filmograpy, you can see the productions here
- He's not very famous actor but for example here, in this mainstream magazine, he's called as "famous actor" in an important project.
also;
- He’s the permanent actor of an important institute such as Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality City Theaters. (I prepared the article just for helping understand)
- In some mainstream media publishments, we can see also his picture with the news text.
- He’s the instructor of a professional institute Dialog Anlatım iletişim, which is certified by the Ministry of National Education.
- He staged as a lead actor on an open-air theater which has 4000 audience capacity. (Kerbela)
- He staged also at the international festivals.
- He was displayed on the cover of the theater magazine that's being distributing all around Turkey. (ISSN: 1307-6965)
- He has been one of the founders of cinema actors' professional association BIROY, which is an association to monitor, collect and distribute the copyright of the actors in the audiovisual field.
- And also I edited, added some critics here
If there is something else I can do, I should do, I try to do again. Best regards,
Frock~trwiki (talk) 19:39, 9 April 2017 (UTC)
- Hi Frock~trwiki , You have put a lot of work into this article and I certainly will do what I can to help. The main thing is to get some sources that meet the standards necessary to establish notability. Removing the extra sources is an excellent start. I will check the sources again in the next day and will note those that on the talk page.
- The problem that I and several of the other editors noticed had very little to do with the reliability of the sources and more to do with the Independence and coverage of the subject. In the few sources I did check I only found one unreliable source and I usually assume the sources are reliable unless I know it is not and even then we are expected to validate that the source is not reliable either by policy, guideline or Noticeboard discussion.
- In en.wiki for a source to establish notability per WP:BASIC and WP:GNG it must have all of the following:
- significant coverage in multiple published secondary sources (trivial coverage of a subject by secondary sources may not be sufficient to establish notability such as 1,2 or 3 line mention)
- and,
- sources that are reliable. Just about any published sources with a reputation for fact-checking and accuracy will be considered reliable unless the source is a primary source, excluded by policy/guidelines or noticeboard exclusions
- and, probably most importantly,
- independent of the subject or someone associated with the subject.
- The main thing to remember is each source has to meet all these requirements to establish notability, not just one or two of the requirements.
- Some suggestions:
- "Has had significant roles in multiple notable films, television shows, stage performances, or other productions." - You will need a reliable source that actual says that Burak Davutoğlu had a major part in a notable film, television shows, etc. (any words such as "award winning", "Top rated" or "large box office success" would indicate the the production would be notable) that is independent of the subject or the production.
- "He’s the permanent actor of an important institute such as Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality City Theater" - You will need a reliable source indicating that Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality City Theater is notable (any words such as "largest", "oldest", "award winning", "premier") and a source indicating Burak Davutoğlu is a permanent of lead actor at the theater. If this is mentioned in the same secondary source that would be good but it isn't necessary you could use 2 different sources as long as they reliable secondary source.
- "His TV dramas displayed on mainstream channels, also in 17 countries in the world". If you could find a reliable secondary source that says he has a major role in a TV show shown shown in multiple countries (probable at least 4 countries) will carry a lot of weight and very good to establish notability.
- Stay away from press releases, interviews, blogs, user generated sites like Wikipedia or INMb, theater programs, advertisements and video's (unless the video has someone, who is not the subject saying that the subject is a notable or prominent actor) because they don't meet the requirements for notability.
- As I mentioned earlier, I will check the new sources in the next day and will note those that on my talk page.. Hope this helps you. Regards, CBS527Talk 02:02, 10 April 2017 (UTC)
22:41 9 April 2017
- Hi User:Cbs527,
Thanks a lot for your detailed feedback and labor again, I hope I do not disappoint you. I’m trying to find the best ones. I've read the things you underlined. And I believe the article text and sources answers most of them. (Together with trailer videos, additional sources and internal links.)
Also, I wanted to see a proper sample article in this category but here in Turkish male stage actors page almost none of them seem ok. according to the rules. Most of them shown with one source and generally it’s IMDB. If it will be delete, I think they almost all should delete too.
I'll wait for your review, Regards, Frock~trwiki (talk) 12:43, 10 April 2017 (UTC)
Thank you[edit]
Hi, just stopping by to thank you for taking the time to post at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Tomas Gorny (4th nomination) about my supposed collusion with ST. I generally just ignore such comments (I deal with entrenched editors a lot), and ask them to open an AN/I case if they are so outraged. Has not happened yet :-) .
In any case, thank you for providing a thorough explanation to dispel the aspersions from certain editors. I really appreciated it. K.e.coffman (talk) 04:13, 11 April 2017 (UTC)

University of Virginia People - August 20, 2017[edit]
I have posted a comment on the article talk page and included an explanation after the edit. Clearly this list of people is meant to be selective and as such there needs to be some legitimate exclusion criteria put in place..not censorship, especially when it is common knowledge from other sources. Just having a wikipedia alone should not be the only inclusion criteria. Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 73.31.99.18 (talk) 00:57, 21 August 2017 (UTC)

Hello, I noticed that you may have recently made edits to User talk:James J. Lambden while logged out. Making edits while logged out reveals your IP address, which may allow others to determine your location and identity. Wikipedia's policy on multiple accounts usually does not allow the use of both an account and an IP address by the same person in the same setting. If this was not your intention, please remember to log in when editing. I'm assuming that it was you who added the 3RR template. If not, someone is forging your signature. Iryna Harpy (talk) 20:29, 26 August 2017 (UTC)
- Since my account is set to log in automatically when I access Wikipedia I was surprised to see your post. The auto-login seems to be working fine so, no, I did not log in on my IP. Feel free to file a CheckUser request through WP:SPI if you like. This IP seems to be over a 1000 miles from my location.
- As far as I can tell from the page history it appears that the IP reverted or restated a previous Bot amended post I had previously made.Personally I see no point in that nor do I see any reason why the IP felt it necessary to do that. You would have to ask the IP about that. I don't think the IP was "forging my signature" per se. When I have more time I'll ask and admin to take a look for their opinion. Thanks for your post. CBS527Talk 13:23, 27 August 2017 (UTC)
- I just thought I'd alert you to the fact that someone may have been trying to forge your signature. It could be innocuous, but it's best to be alerted of strange activities. As it wasn't you, hopefully in was, indeed, innocuous. Cheers for your response! --Iryna Harpy (talk) 05:58, 28 August 2017 (UTC)

- "This notice of edit warring". was to remind you to go to the talk page to discuss your concerns - not to continue to edit war with multiple editors as you did "Here"., "Here"., "Here"., "Here". and "Here". When you finally go to the talk page after being pinged by another editor,"Here"., you still refuse to show where there is a consensus for your massive reverts or why you continue to add POV material to the article. It probably a good idea that you "retired" (again) 3 minutes after your first comment here. Administrators' newsletter – December 2017[edit]
News and updates for administrators from the past month (November 2017).
- Following a request for comment, a new section has been added to the username policy which disallows usernames containing emoji, emoticons or otherwise "decorative" usernames, and usernames that use any non-language symbols. Administrators should discuss issues related to these types of usernames before blocking.
- Wikimedians are now invited to vote on the proposals in the 2017 Community Wishlist Survey on Meta Wiki until 10 December 2017. In particular, there is a section of the survey regarding new tools for administrators and for anti-harassment.
- A new function is available to edit filter managers which can be used to store matches from regular expressions.
- Voting in the 2017 Arbitration Committee elections is open until Sunday 23:59, 10 December 2017 (UTC). There are 12 candidates running for 8 vacant seats.
- Over the last few months, several users have reported backlogs that require administrator attention at WP:ANI, with the most common backlogs showing up on WP:SPI, WP:AIV and WP:RFPP. It is requested that all administrators take some time during this month to help clear backlogs wherever possible. It should be noted that AIV reports are not always valid; however, they still need to be cleared, which may include needing to remind users on what qualifies as vandalism.
- The Wikimedia Foundation Community health initiative is conducting a survey for English Wikipedia contributors on their experience and satisfaction level with Administrator’s Noticeboard/Incidents. This survey will be integral to gathering information about how this noticeboard works (i.e. which problems it deals with well and which problems it struggles with). If you would like to take this survey, please sign up on this page, and a link for the survey will be emailed to you via Special:EmailUser.

- An RfC has closed with a consensus that candidates at WP:RFA must disclose whether they have ever edited for pay and that administrators may never use administrative tools as part of any paid editing activity, except when they are acting as a Wikipedian-in-Residence or when the payment is made by the Wikimedia Foundation or an affiliate of the WMF.
- Editors responding to threats of harm can now contact the Wikimedia Foundation's emergency address by using Special:EmailUser/Emergency. If you don't have email enabled on Wikipedia, directly contacting the emergency address using your own email client remains an option.
- A tag will now be automatically applied to edits that blank a page, turn a page into a redirect, remove/replace almost all content in a page, undo an edit, or rollback an edit. These edits were previously denoted solely by automatic edit summaries.
- The Arbitration Committee has enacted a change to the discretionary sanctions procedure which requires administrators to add a standardized editnotice when placing page restrictions. Editors cannot be sanctioned for violations of page restrictions if this editnotice was not in place at the time of the violation.

Administrators' newsletter – March 2018[edit]
News and updates for administrators from the past month (February 2018).
- Lourdes†
- AngelOfSadness • Bhadani • Chris 73 • Coren • Friday • Midom • Mike V
- † Lourdes has requested that her admin rights be temporarily removed, pending her return from travel.
- The autoconfirmed article creation trial (ACTRIAL) is scheduled to end on 14 March 2018. The results of the research collected can be read on Meta Wiki.
- Community ban discussions must now stay open for at least 24 hours prior to being closed.
- A change to the administrator inactivity policy has been proposed. Under the proposal, if an administrator has not used their admin tools for a period of five years and is subsequently desysopped for inactivity, the administrator would have to file a new RfA in order to regain the tools.
- A change to the banning policy has been proposed which would specify conditions under which a repeat sockmaster may be considered de facto banned, reducing the need to start a community ban discussion for these users.
- CheckUsers are now able to view private data such as IP addresses from the edit filter log, e.g. when the filter prevents a user from creating an account. Previously, this information was unavailable to CheckUsers because access to it could not be logged.
- The edit filter has a new feature
contains_all
that edit filter managers may use to check if one or more strings are all contained in another given string.
- Following the 2018 Steward elections, the following users are our new stewards: -revi, Green Giant, Rxy, There'sNoTime, علاء.
- Bhadani (Gangadhar Bhadani) passed away on 8 February 2018. Bhadani joined Wikipedia in March 2005 and became an administrator in September 2005. While he was active, Bhadani was regarded as one of the most prolific Wikipedians from India.

Administrators' newsletter – April 2018[edit]
News and updates for administrators from the past month (March 2018).
- 331dot • Cordless Larry • ClueBot NG
- Gogo Dodo • Pb30 • Sebastiankessel • Seicer • SoLando
- Administrators who have been desysopped due to inactivity are now required to have performed at least one (logged) administrative action in the past 5 years in order to qualify for a resysop without going through a new RfA.
- Editors who have been found to have engaged in sockpuppetry on at least two occasions after an initial indefinite block, for whatever reason, are now automatically considered banned by the community without the need to start a ban discussion.
- The notability guideline for organizations and companies has been substantially rewritten following the closure of this request for comment. Among the changes, the guideline more clearly defines the sourcing requirements needed for organizations and companies to be considered notable.
- The six-month autoconfirmed article creation trial (ACTRIAL) ended on 14 March 2018. The post-trial research report has been published. A request for comment is now underway to determine whether the restrictions from ACTRIAL should be implemented permanently.
- There will soon be a calendar widget at Special:Block, making it easier to set expiries for a specific date and time.
- The Arbitration Committee is considering a change to the discretionary sanctions procedures which would require an editor to appeal a sanction to the community at WP:AE or WP:AN prior to appealing directly to the Arbitration Committee at WP:ARCA.
- A discussion has closed which concluded that administrators are not required to enable email, though many editors suggested doing so as a matter of best practice.
- The Foundations' Anti-Harassment Tools team has released the Interaction Timeline. This shows a chronologic history for two users on pages where they have both made edits, which may be helpful in identifying sockpuppetry and investigating editing disputes.
