Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Kafanchan, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page British (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

An article you recently created, Gwong people, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Danjuma Laah requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://ngstudentforum.com.ng/p/994/biography-of-danjuma-la-ah. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Notice

The article Musa Bityonɡ has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Lacks reliable sources to prove notability. Notability is therefore questionable?

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. HELP

[edit]

Please I need help in order to make this page aways appear on the Wikipedia search results.

It seems I used IPA Keyboard to create the name of the page when creating it instead of the generally recognized QWERTY keyboard, hence, the genesis of the problem.

The page is "Musa Bityonɡ" (typed with an IPA Keyboard. Is it possible to rewrite the name, using an IPA Keyboard, instead?

Hi Kambai Akau, yes it is possible. You can include the IPA name in both the Wikipedia article and Wikidata item. I believe it will be in the Tyap language? Greenwhitedino (talk) 18:55, 26 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion nomination of Joe El

[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Joe El requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Mcampany (talk) 05:10, 27 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Greetings dear Mcampany.

I actually got engaged and couldn't provide enough details on the subject matter. The subject in question is a notable Nigerian personality and I would be glad if the page is restored so I can update it and provide enough evidence.

copy-past moves

[edit]

Hi Kambai,

Please don't cut the text form one article and paste it in another, as you did with Kamantan people. Doing that disrupts the page history. If you can't move it yourself, please check WP:RM. I reverted your changes, but you're welcome to restore your edits at the original article name (Kamantan) while waiting for it to be moved. — kwami (talk) 01:08, 8 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Kwami!
You know it took a lot of effort to have that work done right? I understand what you mean, but there is something you should know. Firstly, I am from this area. Secondly, there is something political about these names; the original name of the people is "Anghan", while the exogenous name is "Kamantan". My effort is to portray a people with the their original appellations which they prefer to call themselves rather than what an outsider, in this case, the Hausa, chooses to call them. I found no way that could be done by building on the article titled, "Kamantan", hence, created a redirect (of course I did do so few years back and the article was closed). If there be a way the name could be switched to "Anghan" without redirecting, as well as bring back the contents of yesterday, I would be most grateful. Camy (talk) 12:46, 8 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Please check the link I gave above. First of all, we go by the names in English. Whether they are "correct" is irrelevant. (After all, "German", "Greek", "Armenian", "Chinese" and "Korean" are all "wrong", but that doesn't mean we're going to move the articles.) In the case of obscure peoples and languages, it might not take much to demonstrate that the article should be moved, but we should still be sure. But regardless, copying the articles into another name is not the way to accomplish that. All that need to be reversed on principle, regardless of whether the new name is correct or not. — kwami (talk) 08:13, 9 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I have checked the link and done the needful. Thanks for putting me through, anyway. When I created the page two years ago, I wasn't much savvy as regards Wiki's functionality. But, now I know better. Some lessons are rather learned through the hard way. Camy (talk) 21:56, 9 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Musical instruments

[edit]

Hi Mr. Akau, I just created list of musical instruments of Cameroon and hope to create list of musical instruments of Nigeria after a few months. But first I will need to gather more information. Do you know much about traditional musical instruments in the Middle Belt and Kaduna State? Greenwhitedino (talk) 14:54, 28 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Great work, brother!

Yes, I do know about the musical instruments used in the Middle Belt of Nigeria but, might not have the written source material to back this up.

Among the peoples of Southern Kaduna, Plateau, Nasarawa, Southern Bauchi/Gombe, Adamawa, Taraba, Niger states the raft zither ("Zunzwom" in Tyap) is very common. The xylophone (one made with cattle horns are common amongst the peoples of those states too, then the ones made using calabashes of varying sizes (balafon) common amongst those in Kwara, Kogi and Benue states. Although, there may be a mix of both in other states. I think what influenced this choice is the precolonial presence of cattle in those areas from the precolonial/early post colonial days.

There is a project work on the Atyap music (1950 - 2013) available online for download, titled, AN APPRAISAL OF ATYAP PERFORMING ARTS OF ZANGON KATAF KADUNA STATE, NIGERIA (1950 – 2013). The Atyap musical instruments are more or less same used amongst the Central Nigerian Plateau peoples of Southern Kaduna and Plateau states and parts of Nasarawa, Niger up to Niger states. An outstanding instrument is the panpipe, used especially around the Jos Plateau in both Southern Kaduna and Plateau states. The base-sounding pot made with solid aluminium, beaten with a duster-like instrument to produce a deep sound (called "Kimkim" in Tyap) and the gong ("gyigya̠u" in Tyap", "ogene" in Igbo) are much used in the Middle Belt and amongst the Igbo.

The drums used are also of varying sizes. The talking drum is also used across the Middle Belt especially in Kogi, Kwara and Niger states and in lesser proportions in other states. The Tiv use the kakaki which is a heritage of the Hausas, brought in probably during the early colonial period. The peoples in Taraba, Kogi and Benue also use single pipes as the Igbo for making music.

Any other thing I didn't include, please alert me, bro. Kambai Akau (talk) 10:22, 29 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you bro! This is very interesting information about traditional musical instruments of the Middle Belt. I will look into this some more. Greenwhitedino (talk) 10:34, 13 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

No problem, bro. You're welcome! Kambai Akau (talk) 23:16, 13 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion nomination of Lara Sousa

[edit]

Hello Kambai Akau,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Lara Sousa for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly indicate why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks!

Inasmuchas I appreciate your kindness of not totally deleting the article as some heartless fellows would, I also want to beg of you to soften up a bit. This article is on African women in the cinema. I am in a writing competition, and I have seen articles not having as much citations as this work's and no one disturbs them, why mine?! How much of a citation is needed to make an article? When most of what is available are "amp." projects, where do you expect me to go get citations other than the ones I managed to get considering the timeframe? Please, let's first be human, before anything else. Please, I beg of you. Be nice to me. Kambai Akau (talk) 20:46, 18 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
