Beat Jans - Simple English Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Beat Jans (born 12 June 1964) is a Swiss politician. He has been a member of the Swiss Federal Council since 2024, after Alain Berset.[1] He is a member of the Social Democratic Party. Jans was a member of the Swiss National Council from 2010 to 2020 and was the President of the Executive Council of Basel-Stadt from 2021 to 2023.
Jans was born in Basel.
He completed his apprenticeship as a farmer in 1985. In 1987, he continued his studies at the Technical College for Tropical Agriculture where he graduated as an agricultural technician. He then graduated in environmental science from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zurich in 1994.
